Mandarin House has remained mostly unchanged in their spot off of All Saints Road in well over 30 years, but this is only a good thing. While just about every other store and establishment in the strip has changed at least once (if not several times), Mandarin House has been serving decent, popular Chinese food all along, and doing it briskly, with friendly staff, a large selection of fare, and with excellent value. Like so many of these storefront Chinese restaurants, the menu should be familiar to anyone. They still use linen napkins and tablecloths in the era of paper placemats. The decor screams 1979, but its practically back in style. You can tell the owners have run the place as much as an act of love and pride as well as a business. If you like Chinese comfort food at a good price, youd be hard pressed to find something better in this area.

I wrote a review of the Mandarin House/Laurel, MD back on May 29, 2010 based upon first impressions praising the place. I noted at the time that a few folks had panned it for what seemed odd reasons, but most reviews heavily favored the restaurant. Since my last review, the wife and I must have been there at least 15 times--always dining in, never take out. Most of those visits, Ive tried new dishes from their extensive menu. NOT ONCE has there been a slip or an off night. I stand 100% by my earlier enthusiasm. Mandarin House is the real deal and here we are at Chinese New Year 4709, the year of the rabbit. Hop on over folks, youll be glad you did!

I got the General Tsos chicken and vegetarian dumplings. The food had no taste. Granted, I dont eat chinese food that much, I would much rather prefer panda express to this place. I also like spicy food but am okay with less spicy. This was just tasteless. The dinner was also overpriced. The chicken and the sauce was pretty tasteless. Good serving size, but I could not enjoy it. I got the friend dumplings which were severely underdone and tasted like they didnt have anything in them. The rice was too sticky and dry. I had to drink a lot of water with my meal. Overall, paid $18 for the meal and was very disappointed considering the good reviews.

Food has been good in the past and for the price I didnt mind paying because it was better quality. But, I went Thursday night and paid $30 for shrimp fried rice that was dry and flavorless. Shrimp lo mein was also dry with an over powering taste of carrot, not sure if carrots are supposed to be in that dish. The lettuce wraps had way to much green pepper and less of anything else. The service was impersonal and cold. I have received better service when dining for in. The only reason I gave it a 2 is because of the nice man that brought food from the kitchen. I will not go back again, enough.

Like other reviewers, we have been going to Mandarin House for more than 15 years. We have tried others but always return to MH. There food is always fresh, hot and generally delicious. I do agree that once in awhile, there have been some dishes that dont seem as good as a previous time but that is few and far between. And the helpings are good sized, usually leftovers for the next day. Ms. Fun at the front register is always friendly and helpful as are the others and the wait staff.

The food here is pretty tasty. They pack a lot in those little containers. Very professional and friendly staff. Clean and up to date on dining decor. I would give five star but I did have to call twice to place an order. The first time I called I had to continuously repeat myself then we were disconnected. When I called back I had to reorder everything I had said the first time I called. The delivery is fast and professional.

The restaurant was fine a few years ago, but I had quite bad experience I went this year. We ordered a pretty expensive dish, and it came with such a small portion, like only half a plate, comparing to the rest dishes, which was unusual to this class of restaurant. The cook/boss was pretty blunt or rude, saying the material was expensive. Yes, but I paid a good price for it..... I didnt argue, but will not go back again.

Honestly seeing all the positive reviews is surprising. There was nothing surprisingly terrible about it, but nothing redeeming. Typical sugary msg laden sauces. The hot and sour soup wad just awful. The crispy things they bring for the soup were stale. And it wasnt cheap. There was no ambience, no music. Not the worst place ever, but certainly wouldnt go back or recommend

Lived in the area for over 15yrs. This place used to be good long ago but has defiantly gone down hill. always suspicious of a places that fries all there mystery meat and covers it in flavored oil. the prices of there food is way to high for the low quality food. for the price you pay here you can feed your family at panda express and get 4x the quality of food

I ordered a Schewan? beef a couple of weeks ago and received a bucket of carrots and a couple of ounces of beef. After discussing my experience with my friends they told me of similar experiences that Mandarin is going cheap and it appears they are losing customers. We now have to travel to the other side of Route 29 to get good Chinese at Hunan House.

I love Chinese food and lived in Laurel for 5 years now and for the first 4 years I didnt even know this place existed. I dont know how I survived. They have the best Chinese food Ive ever tasted and at a great price. The service is great. I am not in Laurel much now that I am in college, but whenever Im home I always find time to stop in.

Solid food, similar flavor in the different dishes though. At times lack of balance between protein and vegetables. Have to ask for white meat with chicken dishes or else you dont know what you will get. Favorite dish is egg drop soup. Customer service is nice. This is a solid place for a personal meal, but nothing to brag to friends about.

Ive lived in Laurel for my entire life and I will never enjoy a Chinese restaurant as much as I enjoy the Mandarin House. Such great food and service, when you dine in, the food is prepared so quickly, and when you take out, they always have it ready by a reasonable time. Such a great place to eat, I highly recommend it!

Ive only eaten in once but Ive picked up from the Mandarin House in Laurel dozens of times in the last 10 yrs and its consistently fabulous! Spicy wonton soup, General Tsos chicken, and the szechuan green beans are our favorites. If I could only get one item it would be the green beans. YUM!

The worst chinese taste. The worst experience. I have . I my self earn $10 an hour. So I gave the guy a $1 tip and this guy was like . Hey just one dollar like he was asking for more tips. And he made fun of me with his chinese pals. What a bad experience overall. The food is bad. Never go there
