Let me start by saying the first 7-8 visits to the Pit were great. My wife and I would visit every 2-3 weeks. It all started going down hill from there. We were in the back room several weeks ago with other patrons on a Friday night when the Pit allowed a party of about 30 to take over the back room. It was so loud we couldnt even talk. We had to scream for our waitress to hear us. We ate so fast just to get out of there. It was our first bad experience there. I called management the next day. Management could care less. With that said we took some time off from our visits to the Pit. On Friday 11/6/15 my wife and I decided to give the Pit another shot. After all, the first several visits were great and it has been years since anything good has been in Jarrettsville at this spot. My wife and I ordered brisket platters. Half way through the brisket I bit on some bone. I might have damaged a tooth, not sure at this point. I pointed this out to the waitress ( showed her the bone ) , she joked about how she worked for a dentist. The waitress stated that she mentioned to management. Know one followed up with us. Once again I guess management could care less. My wife and I really thought the Pit was going to be a winner. Poor customer service from management looks like will due the Pit in. I dont believe we will be back. Sad.

I was there for the grand opening in July, and tried it a total of 3 times, last time 8-7-14. Plainly stated it is horrible. poor service, dry meats and over priced beer. I really want to see this place succeed because we need a good BBQ place in the area, but it is just mismanaged and the customer service is the worst. On all three visits the staff have been apologizing for the food, the wait etc....I highly doubt it will be in business in a year if there are not drastic improvements

The breakfast was not very good. The sausage gravy had no taste and no sausage in it. The scrambled eggs were flat like a fried egg and a little burnt. Home fries were small square french fries. The coffee was very week. The entire restaurant smelled like bleach, very strong smell. I was really hoping this would have been better since I live close. Very disappointed.

Went here for take out today. Their NC style pulled pork is pretty good. Their ribs thats they are known for were just ok. I thought they were a little dried out and tough to get off the bone. Also tried the wings; they were really dry/over cooked. All in all I will try again for the pulled pork and to give the ribs another try bc the BBQ sauce was really good.

Pulled pork is very good. Ribs are dry, brisket is mediocre. Baked beans are just Campbells with some pork in them. Add 10-15 minutes to any take out order. Even when they are not busy takeout is sloooooow. They provide no utensils for take out. Ribs are placed in a bag with no easy way to eat them.

Ate there for lunch today, 10 AUG 14. 10 of us. No complaints. Service was good and friendly. My friend Sam, liked the brisket, I had the chicken salad wrap, it had a great flavor of smoked chicken. Since we were on motorcycles none of had a drink. We will go back if we are passing through.

The BBQ meats (pulled pork and brisket) were very tasty, but some of the sides that I had were lacking and service was imperfect. Specifically the mac-n-cheese was a little dry and not too flavorful while one of my sides didnt come until 10 minutes after my entree. Id eat there again.

This morning the family and enjoyed a bountiful breakfast. The food was delicious from the brisket, homemade pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and homemade biscuits. I would like to see homemade homefries, but the premade was pretty good. Definitely a way to start out a Saturday.

Went to the pit between Baltimore Mania soccer games with a group of 23 at about 10am on Saturday. The place was dead except for us. Tara waited in us, and everyone for the right order. The breakfast food was great, the portions were large and very reasonable.

Loved the Pig Trough burger! Pulled pork, beef buger, cheese, bacon and man n cheese on sour dough bread!! The sweeten my swine bbq sauce was fantastic! Its a well kept and maintained place with great folks who work here. Wish you werent so far from my home!

Best place in Jarrettsville to grab a bite. Everybody is friendly and I always enjoy meeting family there for lunch. The ribs and brisket are the way to go and they have a great salad so you dont feel guilty about only eating meat.

The ambience was good, a cozy sports bar. Our pizza was fantastic. The brisket sandwich and green beans were OK, not great. Out of 7 or 8 beee taps, 5 were low end domestics, a nicer beer selection. Would have been a plus.

Brisket pizza and brisket breakfast omelets. Update: new favorite is wings. Old bay and wet bbq new favorite in Harford county. You guys should do a wing night and do a few more flavors.
