We were visiting from out of town and staying in a Bed and Breakfast nearby. We had read the rave reviews about this restaurant and were so excited for our Saturday night reservations. However, when we got there, it was one disappointment after another. The highlight was our server, who was trying her best. One of our party members has food allergies, which have never been an issue in any higher service restaurant, as the Chef is always willing to make something separate, or alter current dishes. Even though the restaurant was not very busy, the Chef at The Narrows was not willing to alter one thing, or make any allowances for any dishes in order to accommodate the allergies. The guest was left with a side salad and an appetizer. Another guest ordered the Shrimp Scampi over Linguine and the sauce was soupy and flavorless and the entire dish was overpowered by the taste of mushrooms...not what you want to taste when eating a seafood dish. It was such a disappointment, as we had been looking forward to that dinner being a huge part of the enjoyment of our trip. Needless to say, we will not be going there on our next trip.

We picked The Narrows Restaurant because of good reviews and because it seemed to be well located for a midway stop on our return from a good time at the Delaware beaches (with the grandkids) and "Little Washington" in the Blue Ridge Piedmont (home sweet home). What a revelation: not just a stopover but a place to revisit! The relaxing view, the classy ambiance, and especially the friendly service would already have made our stop pleasant, but the gourmet food turned it into a treat, an extra indulgence after a fun vacation. The paté platter was more "European" than you will find in most of the region, our entrées (lump crab omelette, and fried oysters) were delicious, and the chocolate bread pudding was sinfully rich and so large that we brought some home. We cant wait for an excuse to return—before our next trip to te beach! L & D Demaitre

It was well overpriced for what it was. I regretted the place as soon as I saw the menu, but worse when we ordered. The food was not memorable, the cream of crab was extremely thick. Whatever else we ordered was just okay, not $165+tip okay. The restaurant smelled a little like old oil, like what pizza hut smelled like, hard to grasp it. My wife thinks its the humidity and lack of ventilation. The room was cold, but not freezing, there was a glass enclosed patio that was nicer, but we already settled for the main dining room. There seemed to be a local following at the bar side, but for the time of day we were there it was nearly empty. I wont be here again, but, if you really want to give it a go, sit in the patio and enjoy the water as you eat, its a beautiful place. I wont fault you for eating here once.

The view, ambiance and food are amazing. The restaurant is located next to a body of water. The ambiance is perfect for a date, a meeting, or a family gathering. The food is delicious. I had the sliders (1-angus beef, 1-tuna, and 1-crab cake), mini crab cakes, the veggie crab soup, the cream of crab, and the seasonal peach shortcake. The cream of crab is highly recommended. It had a plenty of crab meat with plenty of flavor. Dont be afraid to order a quart or more of the soup to go! The staff were very friendly, professional, and attentive.

The staff was very nice, most of the food was delicious. The cream of crab soup was outstanding. Other than that it was very warm inside making it a bit uncomfortable. I guess my largest complaint would be that the ribeye special i ordered medium and the filet mignon my wife ordered medium both came out well done. They tasted good but not nearly as good as they could have been. The plates were smoking hot so i am assuming they were cooked properly but because they were busy, they probably sat under the heating lamp too long.

Lovely place, incredible seafood and steak, great presentation, and a pretty good wine list, a little too straight ahead for me, but nothing to really complain about, just because a wine merchant wants to see Chenin Blanc and Riesling on wine lists everywhere doesnt mean they need to put them there. Solid Cab and Pinot Noir offerings make for effective pairings for all of their dishes. The views of the narrows are wonderful and the bridge will line up a couple of sailboats for you. Try the soups.

Went here for dinner Saturday night. We had no reservations and were seated immediately. It is a beautiful restaurant with great views of the water. The food was excellent and the staff were top notch! Scott, our waiter was one of the best we have ever had. He knew the menu, described the specials too a T. We will definitely go back here again. If you go here, ask for Scott, you will get service like youve never had. I hope the restaurant gives him praises for a job well done.

I was really apprehensive when I walked into this restaurant because of the stiff atmosphere I seemed to see, but I couldnt of been more wrong. The staff were curtious and sweet to my two guests and myself and the food was amazing. I mean I only got a house salad and it was just extrordinary and from the samples I had of my two guests dishes their meals are just as amazing. I will be going here again. Price honestly isnt that bad here because the food itself is worth it.

Sat evening dinner (5:45): Slow service, had to ask waitress if they had featured entrees, waited 40 minutes for food to arrive. Took plate away from my wife while I was still eating (she was barely finished), she dropped off the bill after another 20 minute wait, never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. Food was mediocre, Maryland crab cakes were not as good other restaurants near by. Was it worth $80, one glass of wine, no coffee etc.???

I would love to rate the food because it looked great when it was being served to other tables. When my wife and I went in we were taken by the hostess past several empty and dirty tables to the porch. There we waited 20 minutes for our existence to be acknowledged by any of the several waitresses who walked by our table. They didnt even notice when we got up and walked out.

I like that you can count on them to deliver a fine dining experience. The crab and artichoke dip, the cream of crab soup, the mushroom and crab risotto....all absolutely perfect. Yes, they have more than crab, its just the dishes I love best. Definitely recommended for that important reservation for the special night out. HIGHLY Recommended. You wont regret it.

Lovely atmosphere and tasty food. I also really enjoyed the cocktail I ordered, perfect balance of sweetness with the whiskey. The cream of crab soup was decadent with giant chunks of crab. I ordered the Caesar salad with fried oysters, the oysters were excellent, but I would have been happier with half as many frizzled onions. I would definitely eat here again.
