Avoid this one go to the one in Rockville. I love Bon Chon but this place is a sore thumb on their record. Ive been here about 8 times and wanted to wait before posting a review but after this last visit Id seen enough to post a fair review. This place is terribly inconsistent, they allow non-employees in the back (?!) and they clearly act one way when "Steve" is around (Im assuming he is the owner or manager?) and treat it like a hangout spot when hes not around. I heard employees discussing how to give their friends free alcohol by telling them to send someone else who "Steve" didnt know to get the free booze. All of this was going on while I sat waiting for my pickup order which Id ordered 30min prior and was told would be ready 20min after calling in. I paid, sat at the bar listening to the above shenanigans, walked all the way to the CVS on the corner, shopped, walked back, and my pickup order still wasnt ready. I sat back down at the bar listening to more "bro can you get me free drinks" conversations in hushed tones in between employees enamored with their mobile devices/playing games with the volume loud enough for me to identify the games they were playing. Over an hour later and after checking in with 3 employees I finally had food. 60% of the time the chicken is not the delicious double fried goodness BonChon is known for; so to summarize: 1. Pickup order took 1hr 10min to prepare when told it would take 20min. 2. Chicken is not crispy 60% of the time 3. Staff act one way when "Steve" is around and another when he isnt 4. Most of the staff seem like theyre just hanging out, very slow or "dont care" style of service even when there is no on else in the place. I feel bad dumping on this place so hard but after 8 visits ...this is the unfortunate truth. There are some very good employees here, unfortunately they are the exception (all the hostesses I interacted with were very helpful, more so than the people at the bar/register) but not the rule. Hopefully the owner can weed out the bad apples (everyone at the front) and turn this place around to what a BonChon should be.

Customer service is good. The people are very nice. Now for the chicken. I love bon chon and I would normally go to the Rockville location. However when I saw this one open up not to far from me I had to go! I was disappointed and here is why. Chicken didnt taste crispy enough. its supposed to be double fried. thats the whole.concept! Tasted like bon chon but I missed that crispiness. Usually when I get mine from Rockville even the next day after being in the fridge its STILL crispy! Not from this location. My chicken was soggy. Now for the size of the chicken. All of what I have been describing is about the drumsticks. I feel like their "chicken" is from a.Cornish hen. When I go t Rockville they are nice big juicy legs of chicken. At this.location you will be lucky to get a good.size drumstick. They are all so tiny. Great for.the little.kids but not for a.full grown adult like.me. Ive gone twice now hoping it would be different but Im sorry to say I think Ill have to stick to my Rockville.location .

Went to this location after hearing about how good the wings were. Went there to eat in but the tables werent too clean so we opted for take out. After ordering our food we were talking and noticed the staff making little remarks under their breathe. They were speaking with the other customers almost as if they were assuring them we wouldnt be eating there. After about 30 minutes of this the food finally comes so i open to check it and i take a wing out of the carton. Place the carton bag in my take out bag and eat it. After about the second bite the person who was a server decided to come and tell us that we couldnt order take out and eat there after the person at the takeout register said we could. The next day everyone who had some of the food we ordered got sick. 2 stars because the food was delicious but i b will not be ordering from there again.

Had a bull dak and the food came out without rice cake. Informed the waiter and was provided with 4-5 pieces of rice cake on the side. Really? Gave them another chance and order to go on another day. Called and ordered 90 pieces of chicken to go. The person took my order called me back without telling me where she is calling from and ask me do I want to pay cash or credit. Really? At lease tell me where you are calling from. Poorly train staff and probably will not order from them again.

Great chicken. I tried the small boneless strips meal and the 3 drumsticks and 6 wing combo. Ive only had the spicy flavor because I just couldnt order something different because it was so good. Chicken is fried perfectly and this place knows spicy. Note that the strips, even though they have the same spicy sauce, are a lot more spice than bone-in. I think just due to the amount of sauce but they are dangerous!! 100% recommend this place. Plus you can get a beer while waiting for food.

The food is okay. The service was terrible. I doubt Ill eat here again unless its take out. Biggest mistake: "pre-adding a tip to the check "for my convenience". And 20% at that?! Presumptuous and deceptive. If I have to ask the busboy for the check and you never return to ask if Id like another beer, a refill of water, or just to check in, you dont deserve a tip. Honestly, I hate to be "that" guy but you didnt deserve the 10% tip I did leave.

1. Service - Quick, friendly, & attentive. 2. Taste of food and quality of food - One of the best fried chickens all around. The way the chicken is fried does not absorb the grease which makes it not as oily. I love how it is crispy on the outside & juicy on the inside. Both the soy garlic & spicy sauces are good. Portion size was just enough & not too salty. 3. Ambiance/decor - Cozy & quiet. 4. Cleanliness - Looked & felt clean throughout.

I come here for the spicy chicken wings. The wings are very hot! I wish they have a slightly spicy one, like a medium spice version. You basically have only two choices: not spicy and too spicy. Dont get me wrong, the spicy wings are awesome. But some cant take the heat. I was so happy to have tried the Salmon Avocado Ball: avocado, crab, cucumber and fish roe wrapped with seared salmon. Yum! Describing it is not doing it justice.

Couldnt have been more disappointed. I have only been to the bonchon in Rockville, in the town center. If you compare the two locations, the Germantown location pales in comparison. The wings are half the size with barely any meat on them and poorly seasoned. Skip this location and go to the one in Rockville, your experience will be amplified times 10. The wings in Rockville rock, Germantown ehh not so much.

waited almost 2 hours for one order of wings. manager was incompetent. spent entire time cleaning the bar area with cleaning chemicals while customers were eating inches away. overheard conversation from a pick up order, saying customer called 2 hours in advance and was told he still had to wait another hour for his pick up. great food, but service was horrendous.
