Vacationing to me is mostly about food and Brio offered a lot. We ended up spending roughly 50 dollars a person, but the food was delicious. Each table has a pepper grinder, not the little containers of stale pre-ground pepper that you find everywhere else. The lamb was tender and juicy and had been so meticulously cleaned of the connective tissue that it didnt have any of the soapy taste that you get from wool sheep. I wonder if theyre using hair sheep, which is the simpler solution, but whichever, it was great. The steak was medium rare, tender and juicy with a little bit of the char flavor that you want from a grill and it was properly seasoned. the shrimp was juicy and cooked, but not rubbery. The grilled vegetables were not overcooked and were actually ripe. They have a good wine selection as well. If I lived here, Id be a regular. My only complaints were with the deserts. The bread pudding was fabulous, but the cheesecake was overcooked and curdled and the canollis were soggy and filled with probably nutella, but no mascarpone. The lava cake was good, but what they were calling gelato on top of it was not gelato. It was a good ice cream, but gelato is not the same. Go here for the great meal but have other plans for desert if youre as picky as me.

I read the reviews and thought I would be having an awesome dinner with incredible service. It was totally the opposite. The food was average at best but the portion size was small for Italian. My crabcake was no larger than a ping pong ball and was it was all filler. The best thing about the service was the valet. And the valet is not owned or run by Brio. Get my point? The service was slow. I never saw our waitress smile once. But then I didnt seem to see anybody smile. We were never asked how our meal was and we were not offered new drinks. We had to flag down our waitress. As the idiot I am, my bill was just under $100 and I left a $20 tip. Yes, Im an idot. The funny thing, I did not get a simple "thank you". Then I was in the mood for more abuse and pain so we went to the bar for a beer. The bar was pretty empty. It took a solid 10 minutes before we were helped. But the bartender did not say "Can I Help You". She put two napkins/coasters down and looked at me. I figured that was the time to tell her what I wanted to drink. In simple terms, NEVER EVER AGAIN!

We went to Brio for a high school graduation celebratory brunch. Several in our party ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Salad--mediocre, at best. The menu indicates "grilled" chicken and all salads had thin slices of chicken (similar to chicken lunchmeat from a deli). The rest of it was OK--nothing special in the way of ingredients or flavoring (not enough of either). For a $15 entree salad, this is a disgrace. Those who had pasta were happy with their dishes. Not one of the 6 who ordered the "specialty" lemonade were impressed with the taste--too sweet.....and refills are not included (as they are with iced tea). Although there were plenty of tables available, our server was a little too quick trying to move us along. She took up the bread bowls (with bread still left in them) before everyone was done with their meals. For a first visit, very disappointing!! The only way I will go back is to check out the bar and happy hour specials. Otherwise--not worthy of my time and money, particularly for a special occasion.

I havent been here in a long time. I have many pleasant memories of a pleasant atmosphere, good service, and good food (even if it was of the homogenized chain-restaurant type). So, we visited on a sunny Sunday for lunch. The atmosphere was still pleasant, the service quite good. But the food was a disappointment. The tomato bisque came with a congealed skin of corn starch, and had enough sugar added to make anyone diabetic. The chicken marsala was covered with a shiny gloop of a sauce, also consisting primarily of corn starch and sugar. Tomatoes caprese, which should be dressed sparingly with a balsamic vinegar and olive oil reduction, was covered with what tasted like a bottled dressing full of emulsifiers, and again so sweet that I could barely choke it down. My fettuccini was similarly afflicted. Except for the bread, nothing tasted fresh, or real, or anything close to homemade, or even cooked or prepared in the same state.

Homecoming USNA weekend. Brio was full but we had no issues with our reservation or seating. Our waiter Jessie was quick, efficient, charming and training...we had zero complaints about service. Our food was wonderful and so were our drinks. I was concerned when I read so many negative complaints prior to dining here but its obvious that some people can never be pleased and feel the need to spew unhappiness about the smallest thing. We had a great evening with our friends and Id eat here again. Terrific location for shopping before or after a meal too. There is a parking garage around the corner and valet parking if you cannot snag something closer to the restaurant. Portions were perfect for some but most were really large. Dinner selections ran $15-24 per person.

Overpriced and underwhelmed. I might consider giving Brio a 2.5 because the food was good, but I can whip together something at home thats good. For the price the food is unimpressive to say the least. Everyone at our table pretty much said the same thing. If you do go dont let them seat you anywhere near the open kitchen. Some moron stands there screaming orders at the assembly-line cooks making assembly-line food. Dont they have any idea how annoying it is? Come on Brio, get a clue. Unfortunately people in Annapolis dont seem to have much of a clue when it comes to food. Im no gourmet but this kind of average, overpriced food is all too common in this area.

The new menu is decent but the bartender, Brandon, is a piece of work. He runs around accomplishing nothing; drops F-bombs because the printer ran out of paper; curses out his coworker for not refilling said printer paper for him (mind you BJ, the coworker, is busing tables, answering his questions, being a bar back and taking care of customers. Its very obvious he has finer dining training); and hes away from the bar more than standing behind it...all in front of customers with a stupid grin on his face. If I wanted to listen to this kind of crap, Id go to a dive bar.

Ive been going here since they opened, and cant say its still as good as it was originally. The interior is lovely, and the menu has quite a variety of items to tempt you. However, the quality of the food is not as good- much smaller servings, sometimes the food has been cold. Happy hour used to be a favorite way to spend a late afternoon with friends, but the bar service has been inconsistent. I still like the place, but go knowing it can be inconsistent. Previous rating was a 5, but now its been a 3 on our most recent visit, so Ill compromise and give it a 4.
