Lunch at Olive Cafe 12:30 pm December 15. Excellent waitress, very good food. A minor complaint--they were stingy with the sides, condiments and especially the wine. A larger complaint--I went to use the mens restroom, directly adjacent to the somewhat open kitchen and was accosted by the cook-chef-perhaps owner, who asked if I was a customer (Id been in the dining room for at least 10 minutes and had already been served). I reacted with surprise, and he disappeared into the kitchen. I received no apology then or at any time during our meal. Careless, compulsive behavior--the world will not end if a person uses your restroom and purchases nothing from you, but you would be well advised to consult your staff before insulting your customer. I will not be back for more.

We passed the sign that said Olive cafe and got all excited, thinking at the very minimum we would have ourselves some olives. To our disappointment, even olive garden has more olives. The hummus sucked, the pita store bought and anyone who thinks this place is Mediterranean should be ashamed of themselves. The highlight of the lunch was leaving. This place has potential due to its location and catchy name. Get some fresh pita, take some hummus lessions, introduce olives and then Ill be back.

A bit of a mixed bag but overall I would recommend it. On the good side, excellent baklava, really fresh salad, super delicious couscous. And it makes an excellent date spot because the ambiance is perfect. Hummus and falafel are a little meh, though certainly not bad. Only actual bad things were the dry flavorless pita, and also the wine which tasted too old. Still, good overall and would definitely return.

We arrived in Portland later than expected after getting lost in New Hampshire and just walked into this place because, what the hell? Great thin crust pizza, good coffee, nice staff. Only thing: why only two pieces of falafel in the Mediterranean plate? Thats not enough falafel for one person, let alone 2 adults and 2 children!

Took a client to lunch and was so glad he had recommended this place. I had one of the best falafel wraps ice had in a long time. The kitchen was very accommodating and brought out an assortment of appetizers on a platter including hummus, tabouli, baba, falafel, fattoush salad and fresh warm pita for a very reasonable price.

My wife and I just had an amazing lunch here. Excellent food at a reasonable price, great service and the best hummus Ive ever had. Also, this wont mean much to most folks but our waiter looked a bit like Peter Weller and sounded exactly like him. That has nothing to do with this review but it was cool.

Everything here is homemade and seasoned to perfection. Pleasant dining experience and not pretentious. The vegan soups and thin crust pizzas are some of my favorites. Dolmades are fantastic as well as the creative and satisfying salads. Its difficult for me to want to eat anywhere else!

Olive Cafe has a great Mediterranean menu, and the owners only enhance the personality of the small restaurant. Olives is the perfect lunch spot - especially if you work in the Old Port (during the winter months, youll get 10% off!).

This is a great little casual, inexpensive oasis in a city loaded with amazing food choices, but generally more expensive than this. The beef Shwarma Pizza is an absolute "go to" top 5 choice in the whole city. Cant go wrong!

I absolutely loved the Baked Kibbi... Layers filled with the fresh flavor of herbs and spices cooked together and arranged beautifully. Atmosphere is soothing and clean!

Their chicken Shwarma had zero flavor and was basically just plain chicken. Their hummus was really good but their way over priced for what they serve. Ill never go back.

5-star food in a casual yet intimate setting. The shwarma pizza is delicious, and the house-made hummus is a must-get.

Wraps and fries are both fantastic. This is, by far, my favorite place for lunch in the old port.
