Dear Boyfriend, I think you know this, but Im having a love affair. With Ottos. Oh, I know the three of us (you, me, and Ottos) have had many randez-vous (sometimes multiple times a night), but you should know that when I leave your place . . . I stop for a quickie at Ottos. When were kissing . . . I wish your beard had Ottos crumbs in it. While you seasonally change your facial hair . . . they hourly change their options. They please me in a deep, thrilling way that no other man . . . or pizza joint . . . ever has. When I feel like I need to be loved safely and reliably, its their tomato-basil pizza that comforts me. When I desire that earthy, gritty kind of affection, I turn to their mushroom-cauliflower pizza. When Im craving something a little more daring, a little more exotic and sexy, I have the white bean, roasted tomato, herb, and red flake (which is a mouthful . . . if you know what I mean). Yes, sometimes you are the more consistent lover; and, Ottos has the tendency of teasing me so (oh, butternut-squash-cranberry, why cant you always be there for me like I want to be for you?!). But its a small sin when their huge, heaping triangles of love are so reasonably priced. With their prices, its like theyre telling me: "from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health, to love and to cherish till death do us part, I hereby pledge you my faithfulness." I do, too, Ottos. I do, too. Oh, boyfriend, it was only a matter of time before you realized with them its never forced. Its never fake. Its always the real deal: they are one of the best mouthgasms I have. Please dont be jealous, Steff

We like Otto (West-End) pizza for dine-in. Lately, take-out has been horrible! The pizzas have been very inconsistent; the person on the phone taking the orders never knows whats going on. Its very frustrating to have someone that is struggling to take your order, almost like they were not trained properly. For pizza, its on the pricey side, which I dont mind paying good money for good food, but when youve spent $27+ on two small pizzas AND had to be on the phone for 10 minutes with someone who is struggling with entering 2 toppings on 2 pizzas, AND then having to wait an hour for delivery, only to have a few measly toppings that you paid an extra $2.99 for each, really sucks. Because of the inconsistencies, Id recommend dine-in only or stop by to get a fresh, ready-made slice on the go. Delivery is a disaster!

Ottos has amazing pizza so why the one star? The service is in the toilet. One of my worst experiences was when I showed up 10 minutes later than I was told to pick up an order. When I arrived I was told it had been forgotten about but was in the oven. 45 minutes later the pizza was ready. Way to go the extra mile and not do the decent thing and just refund my money when I showed up. I didnt appreciate being lied to then and nor did I appreciate them going to the wrong city (yes, city!) to deliver a pizza of mine on another occasion. Ive had my card overcharged and the list goes on (sadly). The pizza is fantastic but shame on me for continuing to give them my money. Portland Pie it is.

The pizza at Ottos is generally good. However the service is really bad. I ordered takeout and the woman who helped me checked my pizzas to ensure they were correct. One had onions on it and it wasnt supposed to. Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the chef said it was correct (he said the menu included herbs and apparently onions are now "herbs"). I was told it would be quite a while for them to remake the pizza because they were busy. It seems like they just take customers for granted and dont particularly care about your experience. Its too bad because it had the potential to be a good restaurant.

Heres the thing with Otto: they have a lot of unique and delicious toppings, but I found the fundamentals of their pizza really unexciting. The crust tastes like every decent crust Ive ever had, the sauce is straight up tomato (which is a good thing), and the basic cheese blend is super dull. Get a cheese slice some time to taste the trees for the forest, and youll see what I mean. I think a place like Bonobo in the West End does a much better job with the basics. But the pizza at Otto isnt bad. Its good. But thats all it is.

Portland needed another pizza restaurant, and it got one--with a bang! My only beefs are the fact that the pizza sold by the slice are kept uncovered and the [unavoidable] lack of eating space, but otherwise theres a lot to love. Constantly-changing, original varieties (squash, cranberry and ricotta cheese pizza anyone?) of premium quality pizza, friendly service, a bit pricey but what the hey--it must cost this much in NYC, right? Note to my veg friends: There has always been vegetarian pizza available when Ive stopped in.

Superb experience and food. Otto was crowded as heck when our family of four visited, and the staff did an amazing job keeping us comfortable as we waited in cramped quarters. Everything got better once we sat down and ordered a few slices and a couple of small pies to share. Tortellini pizza! Bacon and apple pizza! Both were fantastic. The slices were excellent (we tried mushroom, peperoni, and plain). Service was great. The prices were fair. Wow....

A thin crust pizza with a variety of premade slices to go or build your own pies which are available for pickup or in the "sitdown" portion of the restaurant. Service is prompt and usually friendly. Atmosphere is that of your typical old port locations; very cozy. Full variety of slices available most of the time. A bit pricy for the slice, otherwise a 4-star location.

Great pizza toppings and the crust is great. Its nice stopping by for a slice of quality pizza and they are quick. On the downside, pizzas are left out in the open and the guys grabbing a slice for you with their hands are handling dirty cash/register at the same time. Poor service and the restaurant is very cold. Worth a visit but recommend take out.

We came to Portland from Louisiana for the lobster festival. While the lobster was great we never expected to find awesome pizza in Maine. OTTO may be the best pizza we have ever had. We have nothing like it down here --- the meat loaf and mashed potato pizza blew us away. Hopefully, they still have it. Very highly recommended.

Definitely one of the must try places in town for their flavor combinations and distinctly Portland feel. Unique pies with natural ingredients make for a fun and casual meal, especially late night. Highly recommended stopping by on a summer evening and enjoying your slice outside! Expect to pay more, but get what you pay for.

When the winter winds litter London with broken hearts, oh the warmth in your eyes led me in from the dark. Was it OTTO or fear of the cold that led us through the night? With every kiss your beauty trumped my doubt. And my head told my heart "Let OTTO grow..." but my heart told my head "This time no...this time no.."
