I just finished dinner there with the TJ BBQ Platter and the Alligator Jalapeno Fritters. Sadly, the seasonings and the cooks ability are poor. The waitstaff was attentive though. The fritters had no alligator taste at all. They tasted pretty much like any other seafood fritter with jalapeno. Thats pretty hard considering alligator has a specific and recognizable delicious flavor. The BBQ chicken was dry and bland. Ive had better flavors in the midwest (Kansas) where they dont have any idea what flavor is. The ribs both beef and pork were extremely bland. How can you marinate something for 24 hours and smoke it for 12 and have no flavor?! The worse part is the beef and the pork tasted like they were marinated together as the beef had pork undertones, and the pork had beef undertones. Seriously?! That is NOT how you prepare food. The sausage isnt made in house so its just generic sausage smoked with a tiny hint of their bland ketchup esq BBQ sauce (more on this later). The extra that you get is the chopped beef for sandwiches. That at least has some flavor, but not that much. The sauces taste like a basic ketchup base with a bit of molasses and SOME spice, the "Hot" was more mild than anything Ive still had better BBQ from chain restaurants like Famous Daves, Billy Slims, Smokey Bones, and Old Carolina. Which, is saying something b/c those are mediocre. If i was blindfolded and had no clue where i was i would guess im eating BBQ from the midwest with its bland flavors though. This is Louisiana! home of Cajun cookin and flavorful foods. Eating here, its hard to believe this BBQ restaurant is in Louisiana, and is rated so high. Maybe im just too much of a foodie and have spent too many years as a sou chef, but this food was mediocre at best. Save yourself the waste of money. Go and eat some good Cajun food while your here, and if you want BBQ head over to Houston, Memphis, St. Louis, or KC.

I love this place. It is literally my favorite restaurant. The ribs and wings are to die for and and the menu offers a vast array of choices to choose from. service is great and even when theyre packed the food still comes quick. If you have a child with you the table has a special layer where can color. The waiters and waitresses are very nice and theyll usually write there name with a color on that special layer. The scenery is also good and they have many TVs. They and LSU have a really good connection and it is shown throughout the whole restaurant especially on the front. I recommend asking to be seated at the right side of the building if you have a family or if your with kids because it is more open and bright. Id reccomend the left side if you are on a date or with a more grown group as it is dimmer and has less windows. Im so happy that my family decided that were going for thanksgiving,

Burger review - Good burgers are my jam. My first choice at any restaurant is their specialty hamburger, preferably medium rare. I once felt that TJ had the best burger in town. Hadnt been in a while, so I when I made it out for a friends birthday party, I was happy to experience my old favorite again. Burger came out well done. I sent it back. Server returned, insisting the cook said that this really was medium rare! The cook didnt cook it much at all. You see, now the burgers are pre-packaged and pre-cooked. The cook honestly thought that it would be medium rare if he just didnt warm it up very much. I can put up with a restaurant not serving fresh burgers anymore - they can be a bother, and if its not your focus, possibly not worth the hassle. However, not educating your line cooks and wait staff on what theyre serving... and the cook then -arguing- with a customer about it... No good.

The sliced brisket burger has Swiss on it plus a half pound Angus patty and I added mushrooms and it very well may have been the best burger Ive ever eaten (I also added their house bbq). It came with what they call Mojo potatoes which were their seasoned potatoes and they tasted great also. Our waitress was super nice, making conversation with us and going over some of the menu items. We are from Oklahoma so we dont get awesome appetizers like alligator so it was amazing as well. Atmosphere was great, nice big tvs playing sports is always great. My lovely wife had chicken and ribs and she loved the chicken and the ribs fell off the bone. Good music as well. My sons smiley fries were actually shaped like smiley faces. He loved that. Highly recommended restaurant.

Traveling around the country as I do I dine out around 300 days per year. I rarely find a restaurant that I can rave about. This is one of the times I can. Two nights in a row Ive had excellent food and service. (A rarity). Night 1 I had the best BBQ Baby back ribs in recent memory. Better than most places in Memphis. Night 2 I got their Cheeseburger. Also the best in recent memory. They were actually able to cook it the way I wanted it. (Rare). And I actually got it that way! Amazing! Not to mention that it was actually served on a toasted bun. (Also a rarity). Try the red beans and rice. Excellent service! 2 thumbs up and 5 stars all the way around!

I went here with a group of my co-workers. This place seems to focus a little more on its LSU memorabilia rather than the food they serve. The BBQ chopped pork I ordered tasted bland and the ciabatta bread I requested was definitely not ciabatta. The meat itself was nothing memorable and was definitely not worth 10 dollars. This restaurant needs to focus on its food rather than how many LSU-related items it has. If its more focused on its own collection, the restaurant should be a museum instead. For visitors/tourists in Baton Rouge who want to experience what the city has to offer, its more worthwhile to visit Parrains.

This place was great from the moment we walked in till the moment we left. The seating was quick and the waiter was great his name was Logan. He was very nice and funny also very informative. I didnt feel rushed at all. The food was perfect got to us quick and tasted really good. I have the Tjs select ribs and they were so tasty and cooked great. My girlfriend got the chopped beef briscit, she said it tasted great and was cooked great. The fries were dilicious as well! Great place for a date or with your family. Highly recommended!!!

Great food (tried the baby ribs, they were caramelized and falling off the bone, solid mixture of spicy and flavorful, while still asking for the traditional BBQ sauce on top). The sides were also nice, especially the sweet potatoes. Careful with the desert, although its really good, the portions of the $6.5 icecream courses are simply huge, better consider sharing one per at least two persons (not kidding :)) College sports atmosphere is right at home, with relaxed but friendly serving and an overall campus feel. Recommended!

Ordered from the menu online over the phone, didnt get the au juis with the sandwich that the person on the phone wasnt aware they had, so she told me of a similar sandwich they could include au juis with. Decent food though, a hopping place too! Friendly patrons and boisterous gatherings were bursting the seams of this establishment, I loved the scene while waiting to pick up my order. Wish I had friends.
