Seoul Grill has been one of my favorite restaurants since it opened! They constantly serve delicious food, with the exception of the "Creamy beef soup" (not what I expected). My two favorite entrees I order are either the "Heated Bibimbop" w/ ground beef or the "Kim-chi Fried Rice." For additional reference, the "Kalbi" (short beef ribs), "Bulkogi" (Korean classic stir fried beef w/ onions(, and the "Seafood Pancake" (omelette-like) are also very tasty! Before the entrees are served, five small side dishes w/ assorted Korean food are offered. The food portions are good, however, the prices are a bit pricier, but definitely worth the intense and authentic flavor of Korean food. Their hours are very limited, in fact, they are closed more often then they are open, so I usually call ahead of time. Since they are located in the Old Capitol Mall in Iowa City, the establishment tends to be packed during prime time dining hours, so I would suggest arriving a bit earlier or later to avoid the fairly large crowd of customers. Overall, Seoul Grill is a very small authentic Korean restaurant that offers big flavor! I would highly recommend a visit!!

After hashing over the same list of restaurants that me and my roommate(s) always hit up, one of them suggested Seoul Grill. I was very happy she made this suggestion. I ordered the BBQ Pork. It came out on a sizzling hot plate and featured a very spicy sauce that was well accented by the onions and carrots. The side dishes are a nice touch as well--and refillable! They included Kimchi (a Korean staple), bean thread, salad, seaweed, and some sort of fish dish. The dinners also come with a Miso Soup that was very good (nice, strong broth) and a purple rice that had a nice, subtle flavor that balanced with the spiciness of my entree. The only downside is they have limited hours of operation--so call ahead if youre unsure.

Felt like the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld, nobody was speaking and the Korean lady cashier rude and gruff; be quite until your turn, order, be quiet and step aside until called. Located in the "Chinese Ghetto" Old Capitol Malll its Customer base is 99% Chinese students from Univ of Iowa. Ive been to Korea several times and lived there twice, so I am quite familiar the restaurants and culture. The food was expensive, but subpar. No frills and you have take your tray back when done, just like a school kid. Avoid this place.

The food was OK, but the waitresses there had a very bad attitude. We stood in front of the door for about 10 minutes, the waitress there saw us and didnt have the slightest intention to lead us to a table in the half-emptied restaurant. It took a while before we could get the waitress attention for ordering our food. After we paid for the bill, they even returned the signed check demanding for more tips that they believed their unacceptable services deserved. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!

This is the best Korean restaurant we have in Iowa City. The food is delicious and authentic, "clean-tasting," (compared to many places that are compromising on freshness/quality). At dinner the side dishes are re-fillable and my Dol sot bibimbop was hot! My wife and I have also enjoyed the spicy pork entree. Weve never had a problem with a server demanding a tip, though I wish they were in a bigger location. Its a friendly mom & pop bistro.

I am so surprised with the low reviews people are giving this place. I have eaten at Seoul Grill several times and the food is always delicious. The best Korean food in town. Their perfectly prepared rice alone is enough reason to go there. The only problem that I have seen is that they are sometimes extremely busy. To be fair, I should mention that I usually only get dolsot bibimbap or Japchae.

Terrible Korean food. Kimchi Soup (Jjigae) tasted too bland and kimchi tasted really sour. Broccoli as a side dish? Are you serious? Didnt help that all of the side dishes (Banchan) tasted like they were past due and chef didnt even bother to season them right. Too expensive for what they were offering considering I can cook up better dishes at home with less $. Not wasting my money again.

Great food, but the PRICES just SKYROCKETED overnight (new year) by 25%. Seriously, a 25% increase people. Kimchi rice was $9.95... Now its $12.50?!? At least try to sneak it up over several months and pretend its just inflationary.

Closed more often than not, which is okay if they put up a notification on the door or online. However, I have come on several occasions to find that they had suddenly decided to close for a break.

If you come over the weekend or evenings, tip is mandatory! The tip is written on the receipt and the only thing you can do is to sign. Id like to pay tip, but dislike the way they do.

Food is very good and high quality, but bit expensive for lunch. They have expanded hours now.
