Its really nice to have a causal and tasty place to eat in Mid City. The staff are incredibly nice and although the menu isnt extensive, Ive enjoyed the dishes Ive had so far. The servings arent massive, so if you get a sandwich, Id invest in some chips as well. I recently had the chicken quesadilla which was really good, though I had to eat it with a fork since it fell apart (ingredients were cut too big, not enough cheese). I was glad to see the restaurant was busy this past Saturday and although our wait in line wasnt too long and we didnt have any trouble finding a table, the food, for as simple as it is, takes a looooong time to come out (like 30 minutes or more?). Id be interested in getting a quick biscuit or something before work on weekdays, but I cant afford to wait for food that long.

This place is great! My boyfriend and I always have trouble deciding where to get breakfast because he isnt a big breakfast person (weird right?). This place is cheap and delicious! The environment is clean and the decor is quirky. We got the breakfast but we are definitely coming back to try the lunch menu. You order the food at the counter and the waiter brings it to your table. I love how laid back it is, almost like a coffee house vibe. I ordered the veggie omelet with everything in it and a strawberry pancake on the side (pancake was so good!!) My boyfriend got the cheese grits and the big breakfast sandwich and a side of turkey bacon. Needless to say, we enjoyed everything and ate every last bite. We left so full and we cant wait to come back!

Heard about it from a friend and stopped by for lunch on a Tuesday. First, the atmosphere is really cool. From the art on the wall to the cool tables it just makes the time waiting for your food fly by. I got the special, Taco Tuesday Trio, and it was delicious. Shrimp, catfish, and chicken just the way I like them. Heavy on the crunchy cabbage and a spicy kick with the sauce. I wish I had taken a picture but Ill be back next Tuesday to do so. I did snap a pic of their menu to share. Highly recommend. They do breakfast and lunch and I heard that their breakfast is even better. If youre looking for a casual spot to have a quality lunch with friends then check it out!

Doesnt look like much from the outside but prices are extremely reasonable, little nicer than an average diner and they even offer a military discount. Ordering seems a little disorganized with the menu board and menus not even visible when ordering at the side counter. All orders are places then delivered to your table. Ordered the Big Joe Sandwich which has two eggs, cheese, and four slices of bacon and it was very good but I almost felt like I wanted a little more like a sauce or a lettuce and tomato.

We ate lunch here on a Sunday and had a fantastic experience. The cheeseburger is among the best Ive had in Baton Rouge. The pancakes are very rich and very large--dont underestimate them when ordering. The food is straightforward and--yes--simple, but everything that came to our table was well-executed and seasoned brilliantly. Service was friendly and accommodating, and the restaurant was clean and inviting. Definitely worth a visit.

GREAT EVERYTHING. The staff was friendly and receptive, the food was DELICIOUS along with the coffee. Ordered a cinnamon roll to take with us on the road and they ended up running out before we got ours, so they refunded the money and gave us some yummy looking treats. 10/10 would recommend, great music playing and interesting art for sale on the walls. Definitely worth it, and reasonably priced

Best breakfast in Baton Rouge coming from a picky restaurant owner/chef as my self. Hell they even got up north guy like me loving grits. From the simple bit huge big now breakfast sandwiches to the treat your self early to an exquisite interpretation of a Louisiana Staple the shrimps and grits. Or the diet ending home made chocolates. Jeez amazing top to bottom dont change a thing capisci?

The staff is really nice. However, we did not like the food. The eggs were over cooked, the bread was stale and I wasnt cracked up about the seasoning on my eggs or the pancakes. The owner wanted to refund our money but it wasnt that serious being that the order was to go. I rated 3 stars because I am sure if you dont like what you have they will try to rectify the problem

Pretty good. Had the Quinoa and my friend had some French toast, eggs and bacon. Oh and one coffee and water. 10:30am on Sunday morning, we got through line relatively quickly, however $20 for one coffee, Quinoa, two slices of French toast, maybe one and a half eggs and bacon seems a little pricey for what it is. But I guess its right there in the name..Simple. Joe. Café.

Wonderful good food and awesome host. I had the special: Salisbury steak with gravy and cauliflower. I was mad because there was no bread to sop up that gravy. I teased the staff and he offered me a piece of bread. Absolutely wonderful. I almost forgot. The art work on the walls by local artists are for sale. Some of the pieces are magnificent.

Cosy and relaxed environment with friendly staff! Im all about pancakes and I must say this is pancake takes the cake! The crust was nice and crisp, the blueberries so nice and fresh, pecans toasty and warm! The owner suggested it did not need syrup and he was absolutely right!! I will be back with friends!

Simple Joe has an amazing breakfast and lunch selection and some damn fine coffee and espresso. The French Toast, Shrimp and Grits, and Grits Bowl are my favorites. Casual place for the whole family with some unique art on the walls and really cool themed tables.

The shrimp and grits are amazing! This place is usually crowded during breakfast hours and usually has at least 2-3 tables seated, they also play 80s music all the time so it has a fun lively atmosphere. They also have a couple of outdoor tables.
