There are some facets of Asian cuisine that may be lacking in Wichita, but Vietnamese is certainly not one of them. In fact, Asian Bistro is about as Asian-fied as you can expect for this city. Largely Asian dining population? Check. Asian writing on the menus? Check? Asian packaged treats by the counter? Oh yes.
Half of the menu is split between bahn mis and pho, so I ordered the house varieties of each. The bahn mi was amongst the best I ever had, layering flavor upon flavor upon flavor, featuring brisket, ginger, carrots, and cilatro amongst other things that was a pure flavor experience in my mouth that I wanted to keep going. There was a reason why they offered so many of these sandwiches, and it was because they were fn awesome.
The pho, too, was a bastion of authentic flavors, featuring tripe amongst the standard meatballs and brisket, not only flavoring the already very flavorful broth, but really putting to use what we would normally consider the garbage parts of the cow. It wasnt always the kind of thing you looked forward to eating, but it flavored the broth excellently, which is really the goal of excellent pho.
Theres no doubt that Asian Bistro should be considered amongst the best Vietnamese the city has to offer, but why conform oneself to simply "Asian"? This place is pure Vietnam in a nutshell, and we should love them for it.

I came here for years on a monthly basis. They practically knew me by name, and I always brought a friend to promote biz. I ordered the spring rolls to try something new. When I got them they were bland and the peanut sauce was overpowering. I asked them to exchange it or return it for something else. The manager had the audacity to tell me "its not our fault you dont like it, we cant make money offering returns just because you didnt like it." I was floored. I told her she wont be making money off of me anymore if this is how they treat loyal customers. There are WAY too many other places in town to put up with that.

One of the best authentic Asian restaurants in town! I usually dont like egg rolls but they are to do die for here. Plus, you get excellent service from a talented bilingual staff. Btw, Jennifer is the best waitress there and Julia is a close second.

Food is by far the best I have had in years. Had it for lunch and am having it again for supper. If you love Asian food you will fall in love with this place like I did.
