The original Zombie Burger is a sit-down restaurant in Des Moines East Village. A wildly popular place, they were offered a spot in the food court of the areas trendiest mall when Wendys exited. ZB opened up a fast food version of the downtown establishment. The menu has a wild variety of burgers, so its best to review the website menu in advance. Be sure to note theres two menus...one for downtown and one for Jordan Creek (the one listed as "Zombie Burger & Shake Lab"). Be sure to note the NAME of your burger choice when ordering, because the website combo numbers do NOT match the store menu. When you point this out to the cashier, she will tell you that are two menus and you were looking at the wrong one. When you pull it up on your phone and show it to her, she will smirk that arrogant condescending smirk that screams "Shut up, I dont care." She will then spite you by giving you a diet soda instead of the regular one you ordered. I had the #2 (sorry, #10) East Side Village of the Damned, ZBs copycat of Shake Shacks Shroom Stack. ZB uses mayo instead of something like Shake Shacks special sauce (itself a copycat of In-N-Outs special sauce), which hurts the flavor. The croquet seems to have a better quality cheese but is light on the mushrooms. The patty was the highlight, hot and juicy, though a little over-seasoned. I also had the poutine fries. You can get a half order and probably should unless youre just eating this. Great cheese curds, decent fries, but the gravy was more like a thickened beef broth. Too beef brothy. Kind of ruined it for me. So...the burger is recommended, but the rest of the food and the service are not. To top it off, a panhandler actually approached me. In the food court. Elderly woman with a hand-written note in place of a cardboard sign, wandering from table to table. Stay classy, Jordan Creek.

I was highly anticipating the opening of their second, admittedly more convenient location eagerly. The menu was a condensed version of the downtown menu which was expected. The prices were higher than the other food court options and the burger I ordered, ( Trailer Trash Zombie Burger ) was intensely charred, almost like they were cooked on a public park grill up at Saylorville Lake and came in a plain white cardboard box. So, the burgers were lackluster but the fries were pretty good. I was super super excited for the milkshake I ordered because at the Downtown location I tried the Red Velvet Cake Shake which was so good my brother fought me over it. The cake shake I ordered here was the Zombie Wedding Cake Shake I believe, and was super thick. Not just regular milkshake beginning to drink it thick, it was like attempting to drink 97% unmelted ice cream, 3% being ...flavor? Imagined flavor? It really just tasted like regular vanilla ice cream. Customer service wasnt too bad, considering Zombie Burger is a delight and a pride to locals so naturally everyone loves the company and wants to support the new endeavor but it wasnt at all close to opening day; it was busy and no one behind counter or otherwise was wearing uniforms and our cashier had thick black bangs completely obscuring and stopping below his eyes; Looked unhygienic and mostly unprofessional, like a ragtag group of teens were preparing and serving food. Overall, pretty disappointed but now I know that after this experience I will be going to the downtown location, no matter how busy it always is, when I am unavoidably craving Zombie Burger.

My wife and I got the Zombie Burger, regular burger, soda, and chocolate cake shake... for the low low price of only $18.97! This doesnt include fries! A rip-off by any standard. The burgers should be called salt burgers because of the copious amounts of salt that was on them. The chocolate cake shake came in a cup smaller than a "sippy cup" and it wasnt even cold. It was like trying to drink cake batter. Im still trying to see what all buzz is about. Ive had better burgers and shakes at Hardees at half the price. We wont be back. Unimpressed to say the least.

This is located in the food court at the Jordan Creek Mall - so, I first have to say that they have done a wonderful job at bringing the feel of their other locations into it. The burgers are fabulous. And the fries were very good too - loved the zombie sauce that came with it. I didnt have a shake - but my sons did and they were very good too. Highly encourage- bests the other mall food hands down.

Exceeds expectations! A full fledged zombie burger in Jordan creek mall, only a slightly downsized menu means they offer most everything you can get at the HQ. Food was top notch, fresh fries! I always make a point to tip thaws guys; they work so hard! SHOUT out to Alex, for being such a helpful guy, and a hard worker! Keep it up man, youre the best! .

The shake tasted like plastic, the fries were fast food quality with a lump of blue cheese and served with garlic concentrate that had a tad of ranch in it. The burgers were no better then a wendys or runza burger with a higher price tag. I hope the stand alone restaurant is better then the mall location.

This place is amazing. I had the Trailer Trash Burger and a Tallahassee shake, so very very good. The location downtown has a better atmosphere than this location but the high quality and uniqueness of the burgers and shakes makes up for this!

Great food. I optd for the mall location with caution but was pleasantly supposed with the quality of the food and taste. I stuck with the basic zombie burger. It was awesome but I should have been more adventurous.

The dawn of the dead is to die for and be reanimated. I would give you five stars if you were all dressed as zombies. Make sure to order a shake and all sides are a la carte.

Food sucked. Should replace with a higher class establishment, such as Wendys. Anything would be better than this.
