We went a little later than we would have like because we went after a movie, on a Saturday. They close at 11pm and we got into the door a little before 9:30pm. The hostess that greeted us was not very polite and seemed like we were almost a bother. Our sever was much more friendly and greeted us promptly. After we ordered it took a while for the soup and salad to come out. I would say at least 20 minutes. As soon as it came out the chef came to the grill and began cooking our meal. He cooked the rice extremely fast and it was done before I was finished with my salad. The texture of the rice was not good, it was extremely mushy. The veggies were good and my steak was pretty good. I also ordered teriyaki chicken and the teriyaki sauce was just okay. I got some mustard and ginger sauce to dip and both of them tasted a bit off. The ginger sauce had an extreme vinegar taste to it and the mustard sauce was more sour than what I am used to. (Could be a personal preference) I wasnt completely unsatisfied as a lot of my meal tasted good. I think if it had not been so late, the rice would have been cooked better. We probably wont be back though, because there are other Japanese steakhouses we just like more.

This is one of the best places for sushi here or in louisville. Always very fresh and delicious. I live close so I eat here very often. Some rolls are half price on Mondays! Great service staff also. Have never had hibachi though. Highly recommend. ***update*** I come here a lot I hadnt been in for a while and decided to go. It was 9pm on a saturday night and slow my waiter asked me what I wanted to drink and set it down and left. I waited at least 20 MINUTES and he never came back. Didnt see him again. Some young kid with glasses I go to the front desk to pay for my drink and leave since Im irritated and the kid is sitting at the bar watching baseball! I told the guy at the front desk Ill pay for my drink since im not being waited on.The man at the front desk said you dont need to pay for your drink. No apology nothing. You just lost a loyal customer I dont care how good the food is.

Me & my boyfriend went to Tomo for sushi. Service was good and the food was alright. I was concerned when the bill came to the table though because it had 2 totals. On regular total that charged for the food, & another total that charged for food & an add on of "suggested gatituity". When this came to my attention I asked my waiter which total I was meant to pay. He said that the more expensive total was what I owed. But the more expensive total was an add together of the food & then also the "suggested gratituity" What I dont understand is why the bill would say suggested if it is really mandatory. When you eat at Tomo watch out for that. Tips should not be mandatory if the table is below a party of 6. Me & my boyfriend would have gladly left a good tip for the service we received. But I find it inappropriate that we forced to pay one.

The food was ok but the grill chef was rude. My daughter asked for her steak to be medium (Because she heard someone else ask for medium) and I told the chef it needed to be well done. He asked me if I was the one eating it and I told him no, that it needs to be medium. He cooked the meat and told her, "There, and I cooked it medium". Its the first Ive been out to eat and been disrespected in front of my kid. The bill, without tip, was over $80 because I paid for 4 other meals and drinks. To add to that, I ordered a rainbow roll but it had avacado instead of salmon on it. This was my second time here. The first time was wonderful. Sadly, I wont be going back.

Tomo has always been a family favorite! The food is always great as well as our chef! We go at least once a month & have been for well over 4 years! People that leave negative reviews are just afraid to voice their dissatisfaction (in which Im surprised to even hear that) in person. Its a shame that people would rather post a bad review because they are too much of a coward to "voice" their opinion to someones face so they can correct it immediately. This to us is just the lack of "normal communication" that todays generation lack....they have to post it on social media rather than "voicing their distain". Sorry for the rant :).

The sushi was disappointing. It wasnt busy at all and had to wait on the waitress. The only reason Im giving it 3 stars is because Ive had great experiences in the past. Other wise I would have given it 1. The rolls were not sushi rolls very good and they only gave us 1 of 4 rolls correct. Waitress took the order and the guy that dropped it off was in the phone and it was just rude. With this being said I think it may have been an off night because in the past I have thoroughly enjoyed going here in the past.

So I have been here many times and when I first went the vary first time it was awesome. But then they started adding a tip to my order every time. I was told because my friend and I look like teenagers we have to pay the extra money (we were like 20-24) not teenagers but still young. After arguing for about a hour with the manager we got it taken off. The food isnt that good at all and most of the servers are rude. If you are younger beware!!

Tomo is a great Japanese steakhouse. My wife go to Tomo for sushi every couple months or so. We have had the hibachi grill a couple times but it wasnt anything special compared to other hibachi grills. The sushi is really good though

Waitress was really rude and knew nothing. They tried to charge extra for their mistake, changed us for 3 soft drinks because my son didnt like the pink lemonade. We will not go back and well spread the word.

Love this restaurant! Food is amazing (SERIOUSLY, try the spicy rainbow roll!) service is wonderful! Owners usually on premise (At least at lunchtime) and are such kind hearts. I love coming to Tomo!

Food has always been great here and the cooks are always so friendly and full of sweet moves. Its pricey but Id eat every day if I could :D
