I was beyond pleased with this establishment and its offerings, from the charming atmosphere to the eager waitstaff everything was truly exceptional. The place was clean, well put together and everyone is super friendly! It is so refreshing to have such coastal options filling a niche here in Bloomington, and offering it up so fresh you can see the freshness in the tanks. Ordering your lobster or crab is a great experience here and if you so desire theyll allow you to go to the tank and claim your victim, which I particularly enjoyed. I ordered the Dungeness Crab with Da Works seasoning and goodness was it good. Im a sucker for a crustacean anyway, but this place didnt help my weakness. While you wait for your catch you can play a few games of hangman on the paper table coverings! I wholeheartedly suggest if you enjoy great seafood and maybe a nice casual atmosphere this place is for you, trust me Ill be back.

Wonderful destination with mostly authentic Cajun seafood boils and many fried seafood favorites. The decor is fantastic and the staff super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the "Sampler A" selection, which was a great way to try all their seafood options. The shrimp were a little mushy and the $38 tab a little pricey, but it was a giant pile of steamed mussels, clams, crawfish, shrimp, and half a snow crab, plus corn on the cob and small red potatoes. I suggest ordering the sauces on the side as they can be overpowering. Plan to get messy and enjoy!

Overpriced and the food was kinda so-so. For example thier Crab Cheese Wrap is $8 and its just crab rangoon. Clam Chowder was also just ok. Fried Calimari was about 1/2 of what youd get at olive garden on a sampler appetizer and not nearly as tasty. One thing about a new restaurant is that usually theres a host or hostess whos all about telling you what they serve and why its awesome. This joint was like a ghost town. Lastly, a place that serves $40 lobster shouldnt also give you a 5 cent plastic spoon to eat your $8 bowl of soup with.

I dine at the runnin crab at least twice a week. I have tried many items on the menu. My favorite it the shrimp (heads on, go out of your comfort zone and try because the flavor is unbelievable) and the crawfish. The service is great and the owners are very nice. Personally my favorite waitress is Sunny. She has a great memory, knows her seafood, and very smart; i believe she is a current IU student. I believe the prices are very resonable considering you could go to red lobster and spend more on frozen food.

Had the calamari, garlic bread, and hush puppies (we came for one of the combos but they were out of half of the seafood. Not a big deal. It happens - especially when the seafood is fresher. Well come back to try it another time). Calamari was good quality - the actual calamari, as well as the batter. Though, it was on the smaller side for the price ($8, and we got about 1.5 cups worth). Hush puppies were delicious! Though, also a little on the small side. Garlic bread was terrible. Dont bother.

Ive been wishing Bloomington had a seafood place like this. I came for lunch and ordered the seafood combo which is a steamed bag of shrimp, crayfish, clams, mussels, sausage, corn and potatoes. You can choose the seasonings. They have many fried seafood baskets too, but I didnt want too much fried food, especially since I ordered the beignets to go. Bloomington, if you let this place go out of business Ill never forgive you!

Fresh Seafood and Great Staff. We just had dinner at the Runnin Crab and will definitely be back. I had the steamed clams with butter and garlic...there are 3 other options to chose from, Cajun, Spicy and Asian with 4 levels of flavor...mild, spicy, hot and very hot! They also have mussels, oysters, crab, lobster, shrimp and more! The Runnin Crab is a great addition to the Bloomington Restaurant scene!

Im very happy that Bloomington now has a sea food restaurant. The food was decent, but the seasoning on the fries was very heavy and overpowering. The fried calamari was also over cooked, but fried nicely. Im excited to try their other sea food. The atmosphere was very nice and everything seemed well organized. I think after sometime this restaurant could really take off.

I had the shrimp PO boy, Cajun fries, corn and hush puppies. It was so good and relatively inexpensive. I wanted the basket but it was an hour before close and I wanted to have more time to sit and eat it. Service was great and the food amazing. Im planning on going again soon so I can get the combo and the again for each flavor.

We had gumbo, corn chowder, fried fish & a shrimp poboy all good. Actually Poboy was awesome. We took 2 lbs crawdads to go, they were great. Only open a couple months, keep it up. Big aquariums to keep all seafood kicking fresh. Live crawdads in Indiana without bringing back from the gulf myself is great.

They will teach you how to eat the crawfish and crab legs. :-) We had the Combo A and it was plenty to split between 3 people. I hadnt ever had crawfish and it was delicious. The crab was delicious. The seasoning was great and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely be going back.

Fun decor, friendly staff, great food. Its really easy to overcook seafood, but everything was cooked perfectly. Great flavors on the boils. Gumbo was spot on. Fried clams, catfish, and hushpuppies were awesome too. I would choose this place over any other seafood options in town.

New experience! Good service! Probably the most authentic Cajun food you will get around here. I shared the "A combo" with my husband and was pleased with it. The dinnerware was a but unusual but thats what made for a new experience.

Gumbo fair, salad bar a waste, lobster tails in garlic butter sauce was great. They serve you your food in a plastic bag, plastic gloves and a paper plate, very messy, not a first date location. Very casual for a $70 dinner for 2!

For the amount of money I spent the amount of crawfish in there and maybe 12-14 a lot of shrimp the lobster claws ok my advice was put more crawfish in the buckets the service was not the best two stars on it

Excellent food, and the price was great too. Had the crab legs and they were really good. Even the chicken tenders and fries were great. Great atmosphere, but the place is a little hidden.

I havent been to Red Lobster for crabs since Ive been there. I get the best of both worlds with their mixed spices offering. Ive done both dine in and carry-out. Both went well.

Been waiting to try this place for a while.... Food was great, totally lives up to the hype. Its hard to find a proper seafood boil in the midwest, but here it is.

Didnt stay for the food. Brought out our sons chicken nuggets and was completely raw. If you cant cook chicken, we didnt stay to try the seafood. Very disappointed

Amazing seafood, nothing else like it in town. The combos were a great way to try various seafood on the menu! Highly recommend Da Mix seasoning!
