Unbelievable I had not visited this particular establishment in over 13 years, and to my surprise it was the worst experience. The food was the most sloppy presentation ever . I ordered a tuna melt which looked like a plate slapped with some tuna all over ( wheres the bread)! The chicken strips/ tenders I ordered for my 2 little ones looked like just some huge pieces of chicken that were suppose to be covered in batter yet the batter covering was falling apart all over the plate! The fries tasted like they just poured more than enough salt not to forget they were all crunch like potato chips and cold. The waitress tried her best to keep it together but it looked like she was the only one there serving everyone there not fair to do that to her. As for the food not impressed at all the waitress deserves 5 stars just because I could see her overload and she did phenomenal trying to hold it together. However the cooks should know better presentation and taste means everything when its a food establishement. I did mention to the cashier how dissatisfied I was with the food she tried to discount the bill I refused, she did give me 2 $ 5.00 coupons/cards to return again I kindley return them and left them on the table. Thank you but no thank you.

I loved this place. Friendly service, great food! I had one of the skillets with some buttermilk pancakes and stuffed myself. The next day I had the burger which was all meat, no filler and the brussel sprouts with bacon. That was great except next time I would probably ask them to hold the glaze, not that it was bad but I just love brussels so I didnt need the sweet flavor to compliment what was already awesome. Unfortunately my friends who live in Westchester, IL didnt have the same experience as me and after discussion we agreed that I was because they went when it was super busy (packed) and they were short a cook. That being said, go at a time when its not busy.

This review is written by Alex a very talented 8 year old who loves visiting Colonial Cafe! Colonial Cafe is one of the best restaurants, there food is really DELICIOUS. In my opinion if I was really hungry Id pick between their bacon cheddar burger, chicken strips and their fries. And for dessert the kitchen sink, its basically a bunch of ice cream in an actual kitchen sink. Dont worry its clean so it includes chocolate ice cream, vanilla, sprinkles and fudge. Over all I think Colonial is one of the best restaurants.

A new fresh menu gives this place a big boost. So pleased with the healthy choices as well as the diner type standard selections. There is something for everyone. I love the quinoa bowl with eggs just as much as the biscuits and gravy. They even have latte and cappuccino now! The ice cream is the same as ever-- highly recommend the peanut butter topping! Decor is clean and it gives the place a newness. Glad they invested in a face lift. Service is sometimes slow but not intolerable.

Amazing! We had a great breakfast. Awesome service by Paul. Attentive and responsive, even with our group of 14 with 5 kids! The BLTEA with cheesy grits cakes. A MUST order! The fresh banana bread French toast was delicious, and the banana split waffle was a hit with my 9 year old. We also loved the mason jar mango lemonade, and you get to keep the cup! Kids menu is great and has a good variety. The restaurant was clean and had friendly staff. Two big thumbs up!

Were visiting St. Charles, and wanted to find somewhere local for breakfast. Based on strong reviews and an interesting menu, we dropped in for a meal and were extremely pleased! The food was excellent and the service was top-notch. The Virginia ham steak was thick and juicy, the pancakes were fluffy and flavorful, and bacon was rich and smokey. The ice cream sample at the end of the meal was an unexpected palette cleanser :) Well definitely visit again.

In town for a reunion. Appeared with a good-sized group without any reservation; but, they found seating for us together. Everybody found what they liked from breakfast to soup and pie and ice cream. Very good food and excellent, friendly service. This is the place that features the "Kitchen Sink" ice cream sundae!

This was one of my favorite restaurants. In the last year, the quality has decreased. The service is slow and they seem to have replaced their legendary whipped cream with some inferior recipe. I will deeply miss their pbf chipper. The potato pancakes and cornbread were really good though

The food was well less than good but not absolutely horrible. Serve was ok I guess but she did forget syrup for the pancakes after saying she would go get it 2x (we still never got it). Portions are SUPER small for what you pay. Im thinking they should stick to ice cream.

Pretty basic breakfast. A bit more expensive that I would expect Colonial to be ($10.49 per meal). Hash browns were inconsistent in their cooking. If you buy something off the specials menu you can get a free scoop of ice cream/one topping to go - icing on the cake.

On Saturday, May 9, our family held a 100 year birthday for our father. Colonial Café did the catering for us and everyone had great comments on the food and drink. There was plenty of food and we had plenty of leftovers. Thank you so much Kyle and Amanda.

Good location and ample parking available. Nicely decorated inside and lots of seating. Friendly staff, good variety of breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts. There are lunch specials, reasonable prices. The ice cream is a must for dessert.

Ice cream specialties are excellent. Menu has excellent variety with reasonable prices, but the quality of the food isnt anything special. Solid dinner spot for families, but only worth going out of your way if youre in it for the ice cream.

Weve been hanging out here for over ten years so they must be doing something right. The front parking lot is usually full by 6:00-6:15. Free wi-fi, decent coffee, great omelettes - if you dont get a decent waitress, ask for Heather.

Had breakfast here food was delicious. Had hash browns, bacon, sausage, eggs and toast. Portions are generous. Their strawberry lemonade with strawberries inside is delicious too. Service was good and food was quick.

Great variety of American food, friendly fast service, and in-house Ice Cream thats beyond compare. Theyve recently updated the restaurant to be more modern but are still very family friendly. They serve alcohol too!

Ive only ever had breakfast here, buts its always good. Their prices are a little high, but the quality of food makes the prices bearable. Much better for breakfast than IHOP or the like... Friendly waitstaff too.

I came on a Wednesday. Hardly anyone there but the food came out in 5 minutes. If only the gravy was fresh and hot you would of got 5 stars. Solid price, solid portion and quick service.

Been enjoying all the food and ice cream colonial serves for over 40 years. One of the best sit down family restaurants out there. Server Jackie is outstanding.
