ADD-ON REVIEW: September 2017: I wanted to mention that Im a mostly gluten-free vegetarian. Yes, the menu is diverse and the food is delicious ... but if you have a similar diet, you might wanna pass on this place? I usually order the Pierogi Platter which kinda tests the limit of my gluten intolerance but so far hasnt caused me the pain or bloating Id get with other meals; (you can customize your order; I get all nine rogi with potato instead of the usual assortment. Other than that, you might be hard-pressed to find any full-vegetarian options ... maybe a salad? If youre are pescetarian, their Surf Salad is pretty good. Vegans ... yeah, youre outta luck here. ORIGINAL REVIEW: January 2017; Get here early (around 4:30) or make reservations; they take walk-ins but you might be waiting a while as The Hungry Masses pour inside. We aways have had amazing and friendly service - your glass will probably be refilled before you even knew it was empty. We enjoyed the live keyboard player, later joined by an accordionist, the latter being the owner. Its such a rare treat to see an owner LOVE his business so much; he hardly stops smiling and knows half of the diners. A beautiful, warm retreat and gorgeous view over the lake ... win, win, WIN!

I think this is a nearly perfect restaurant; excellent quality, atmosphere, and value. Remember it is European focused, so salads and/or vegetarian entrees are NOT their forte. What they do have is perhaps the best roast duck in the Chicago area; a large half bird, moist, but not greasy (duck is only on Sat-Sun). The bread basket was a bit lacking for my taste, and the potatoes in the delicious picle soup could have been more neatly cut. But thats as negative as I can be after two visits. The vegetable offering was freshly cooked string beans; a welcome change from many restaurants of this type. Ive heard they do a good job with walleye, a wonderful mild white fish, and salmon as well. The dessert cake selection is wonderful; if you like orange, he "dreamsicle" cake is delicious and refreshing. I would mention the amazing view over the lake, but there are only four tables for four that get it, and I dont want to disappoint. Management told me there can be long waits on Friday and Saturday night; Sunday afternoon was pleasantly busy but not crowded.

Was very excited about going out to eat at a polish restaurant on the lake. Very disappointed when we arrived and were greeted in a very matter-of-fact by the owner. After putting us down for 2...she took the name down of the next couple who had come several minutes behind us. My jaw dropped in disbelief as she proceeded to seat them on the deck outside. When I asked her why she did that...she rudely said that I wanted to sit inside. I told her that I wanted outside and she looked at me and again very rudely said "most people want to sit inside and there is no space left". We stood in awe of how rude she was being and as an owner no less. She obviously was not in need of our patronage as it was busy but if you are looking for a nice experience, this is NOT it. Move on. As you will read in other reviews my assessment is not a one time event. You have choices. Dont waste your money or time on a place with a owner who doesnt appreciate her customers.

My husband and I were looking forward to a new place to eat and were delighted to find cute atmosphere and a friendly waitress. We both ordered steaks. As it was set down on the table we noticed there was no extra flavoring given to the steak. While cutting it we both found it extremely difficult to cut through the fat that was throughout the entire steak. My husband, who can eat just about anything, couldnt chew through his food. He reluctantly sent the steak back, feeling guilty about the decision. The owner soon after came speeding around the corner with his plate and a raw steak in hand. She began to explain why it was so hard to eat it. (yeah...all the fat) She was very rude and the raw steak was disgusting and uncalled for. Im sure this restaurant would be nice if you plan on ordering fish. Its hard to screw up fish. Reflections ruined our evening. Dont let it ruin yours.

Great price and great home style food made with real ingredients. Family with 3 kids 2 adults and the bill came to $62 for everything. Awesome waiter was only present when he needed to be and not in your face which is one of my pet hates since moving here. With no one feeling like a dessert the food was so good we thought we would try from one of their many selections to share. I only got 2 tastes of this gorgeous chocolate berry torte and the rest was devoured mostly by my 3yr old daughter who was adamant she didnt want any. I was blown away by the fact this cake had a layer of real whipped cream and not artificial "reddi whip" type cream. This is a first for me in Illinois. My only gripe about my visit is that it was the last slice of this cake they had. Well my daughter had a huge smile after it (no exaggeration) so with that I happily put my selfish needs aside.

Not sure where too start...first of all that place shouldnt be called polish restaurant!!! They dont know how polish food taste....their food is so bad!!!! They dont know how pierogies or golabki tastes... Everything was old and tastes bad. Meat was dark ,to me looks it like it was kept in a fridge for days!!!! Another thing table cloths and bread baskets are dirty!! We found a little red spider...in it and the owner told us that "spider is a nature" wth? Spider in a basket with bread .... please be careful... And dont waste your time money or stomach for that food and place ..!!! Be aware!!!! After all we all got sick!!!! That place should be should be closed down!!!!!!!!!

I was being kicked off from Reflections because of the tip I didnt offer them which I later apologized for and promise them to pay an extra tip when I come back. Things wouldve been ok it werent some guy who related to this owner forcing me to leave this area. Is this guy even using his brain? I keep telling him that I am sorry about the tip and promise the family to pay them a tip. Unfortunately he doesnt know how use his brain, and gave a verbal assault. This was a last time I ever visit this area. I wouldve even called the police after this assault. So please remember, never go to a restaurant that is run by a family that is this rude and crazy...

My hubby and I went there on Sunday, November 6 and we wish we picked different place for romantic dining. If you are looking for authentic polish cuisine, this is not good place. It is run down, and it does not feel clean, food was barely warm, they forgot to bring salad, and the borscht was horrible. The cup that was used to serve the soup was chipped, and cracked, dinner plate was also chipped. I wish this place was better, because the surroundings are charming, lake view is beautiful. The restaurant needs to improve its offer.
