I am in love! This is the best Szechuan Restaurant Ive ever dined at in the Chicagoland area. Especially Evanston! I will be going here until Ive had everything on the menu. Right now, my favorite dish is the Braised Pig Feet. While enjoying dine-in lunch special of the Mongolian Beef, I ordered the pork dish to carryout and have for dinner. Great choice and good idea, because you will best enjoy this meal eating with your fingers! I cant even describe all the wonderful flavors contained in this dish! It was spicy, but pleasantly so. Much appreciation to the hands that prepares this food. I knew Id found a jewel when I kept driving by and seeing the place packed full of diners. I noticed the low ratings for service. Yes, it wasnt that great, but very typical in these kinds of restaurants. However, when Im enjoying my food and conversation, I dont want to be interrupted every few minutes by overly attentive waitstaff. But it would be nice to check the table to see if diners need condiments or extra water or napkins, and even a fork if one is not too handy with chopsticks. Otherwise, Im sticking to my 5-star rating because the food is so delicious.

This is, by far, the best Chinese restaurant Ive been to in Evanston *and* Chicago. Imaginative, yet authentic cuisine (mostly Szechuan). True, the massive menu tends to favor spicy dishes, but you can ask for milder versions (and even the three-dot dishes are not terribly spicy). I have been here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. The tea-flavored duck was outstanding, and was cooked to perfection: tender and juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside. The Szechuan sticks were very interesting if you are into more adventurous preparations. See photos. Very very highly recommended! Also, extremely affordable for the quality.

Ive only ordered here via Grubhub, but Ive passed by during prime hours and they can get quite packed! They make really authentic Szechuan food that is REALLY spicy, but so good. So, if youre not used to spicy Szechuan food, Id suggest getting everything mild (which even then is a little spicy!). My favorite is the braised pork belly. The menu is extensive. It is a little more pricey than the average Asian/Chinese restaurants nearby, but I think its totally worth it for the authenticity (and you do get pretty large portions that are meant to be shared).

My new favorite Szechuan restaurant. What sets Peppercorns off from Lao Szechuan is their use of real Szechuan peppercorns. They have a flowery taste but leave a numbing sensation on your lips. Try their take on spicy popcorn chicken. It puts Lao Szechuan to shame. Im also a huge, huge fan of their dumplings in chili oil and just recently I tried a spicy whole fish that was incredibly good. I love this place.

The best Asian food ever, seasoning was fresh and just on point. I ordered the braised duck with spicy chicken wings and fried rice. The duck was just cooked to perfection with the right kick of peppers to awaken all your taste buds. I am not a duck fan but I completely devour what we ordered. Potion sizes are great and good prices too. Next time I am onto the braised lamb.

This restaurant is phenomenal. The dishes are ample and delicious. We had the pot stickers which were obviously homemade with spicy dipping sauce. The sizzling beef was just the right amount of oily. Cumin lamb was tender and flavorful. About 80% of the people dining were Chinese, which tells you something, too.

I start to really enjoy spicy and numbing Chinese food lately. I think the taste is on point! Cost is a bit high especially $14 for some napa cabbage. I wont be getting that again. Also stay away from the dumplings. Seems like it is just 6 pieces of frozen dumplings with some oil on top. Not worth the $7.

From the look of it outside, you would never think its that good. And, it is that GOOD. The food is authentic. Its superior in culinary skill. Food is not greasy. Can you believe a not greasy Chinese food? I am so impressed. Now the spice is special as well. Its a numbing kind of spicy. I love the kick.

Sat down and waited until 6 other tables were seated and two of them received their orders before they even took our order. We had a 10 month old with us, so the wasted 20 minutes just meant he was getting more and more crabby. No apology and mediocre, overpriced food.

The food is awful here. The dishes we have ordered are super salty, and the meat does not taste fresh at all. My husband had diarrhea afterwards. We will nevee come back. Do not understand why this restaurant can get pretty good rating.

Terrific food especially their mopu tofu, spicy chicken wings, spicy beef braised noodles, walnut shrimp and the creamy cheese rangoon. Service was attentive. Owner was really sweet and nice. Establishment was clean and attentive.

Good menu, great location, decent food quality. The only thing I would say is of you cant handle spicy food, dont come here. But if you love spicy food, this is your place.

$15 for just the meal and no rice? Crazy. Crab was gross and soggy. Wont eat here again.
