I had fond memories of Jimmy Buffets from when I was younger and when I was last there most of these memories held true to providing a good experience. After an extremely long wait (It IS at Navy Pier, you cant hold that against them on a weekend) we were finally seated and had a chance to order drinks, volcano nachos, and burgers. We had a great time sitting around with the rather tasty nachos and some great drinks. While the initial seating had been slow the servers were really on top of making sure we had refills and werent ignored which says a lot of good things about the service with how busy they were (packed is an understatement.) Sadly in the space between visits my taste palette has grown and with the slew of burgers available in the city these just did not live up to my memory. In retrospect I wish I had ordered the coconut shrimp (which someone else had ordered and I had grabbed one which tasted good), the Jerk Chicken, or some Fish and chips. The burgers were really a downer but thats only with the price compared to how much better are in the city. The rest of the food? Rather tasty! Still, even with the burgers being a downer for me the entire experience was a good time and the rest of the food was great. If you are at the pier you could easily do worse and most of the meals were flavorful. With how most of the menu is themed I would recommend Jimmy Buffetts as more of a late Spring to Early Fall stop while its still in the upper 70s+ with the sun out. With a friendly wait staff and enough booze being thrown at you it wont be long until you are mentally on your way to Margaritaville!

If I only have a chance not to give a star, I totally would. Here is our take out experience with Megan ( bartender) today. Day started out just great, my family on the boat and we stopped to get some food take out. The choice fell on Margaritaville located on Navy Pier, Chicago. We entered to order food at the bar, bartender took our order within a minute (maybe this is only why my review has 1 star). The frustration started when Megan brought me change with $5 short. I had a question to ask, but I thought, ok maybe this is fee for take out orders?!! I ordered a kids meal, she didnt even ask me what side we want, she put French fries with no options for us. How about upsell or offer any options? Also, kids meal went with a drink, she said no it doesnt, but menu clearly said so. Finally our order came (she switched kids fries for green beans). I asked for ketchup to go since some meals had fries. Bartender gave me a whole container of ketchup. So I didnt hesitate to double check, so we can take this ketchup to go? Her answer was: "No, we dont have to go ketchup, go to McDonalds across from us". I was stunned. Then I asked her again for a kid drink to go. Here I couldnt believe my eyes, she gives me a plastic cup with no lid, cup says "Miller Lite", ice and two straws (my daughter is 2 years).

We have come to this place a few times. Previous trips were fun and enjoyable. My family usually had a good time. This visit was destined to be the last. We took a trip on a Wednesday night. We were seated outside and had less than a 15 minute wait. We had our drinks and food ordered at the same time. We waited 20+ minutes for our drinks to come out. The first thing that did come out was our food. We sent the food back and told the server we were leaving. When we asked the hostess to speak to a manager we saw our drinks come out and told our waitress we were leaving. We still asked us for a manager and the hostess proceed to tell us she didnt care about our issues and that she just "sat the people". Tom the manager came out and asked us what was going on, gave him a run down of what was going on. He said he was piecing the stories together from both the bartender and our waitress but said what happened was unacceptable. He was very apologetic and took care of a few things for us. Needless to say what I thought was going to be the last trip to the Margaritaville at Navy Pier may not be the last.

A former Ale House Pub. Skip it, not worth it. The decor is not very Tropical, the ceiling is painted with a watery map/islands, but the heavy dark cherry wood shudders and walls are still all around. It doesnt feel like a Jimmy Buffet restaurant . Only 7 or 9 items on the menu, all overpriced and not very good. I ordered a margarita and it came in a regular glass instead of a margarita glass. Why? Since All the Cheeseburgers in Paradise restaurants in Chicago are closed, we were excited to come here. Nope. Not worth it. A completely disappointing Anniversary dinner from my husband and myself. We wasted $65 on two meals. The waiter took my husbands plate away before he was done eating. He never even asked if he was done. We tipped 13% because we were so angry. Theres a McDonalds right next door. Go There instead. Absolutely disappointing. Theres a great Margaritaville in Orlando at Universal. I guess well need to fly to Florida to find a good restaurant.

Was there on 9-13-14, the coldest day in September, the door was hanging wide open, asked the server if there was somewhere else to sit, he said no that was it. My sister got up to go to use the restroom, there was another section, that was warmer. My cheeseburger was cold and undercooked, no one asked how my food was, at that point I just wanted out of there because I was freezing. I was truly disappointed with this Margaritaville did not live up the standards of the Margaritavilles I have been too. What I find really disappointing is I sent an email to the their customer service email address, no response, I called them and I was told that they would send me the "Booze in the Blender" cup and a gift certificate, in addition to an email... 5 days later nothing. Yes... they didnt have the Booze in the Blender...I asked if you could buy the tee shirts that the servers were wearing... no you couldnt, thats too bad, because they were awesome shirts.

Waited 30 min for a table outside and had my name on a list and was next to be seated. A waiter, not the hostess that was seating people told another couple that waited 5 min to take the table that was supposed to be ours. When i told the hostess, she told me to wait a min and she would take care of it. She came back and said she told the manager and the manager said oh well. That has to be the worst manager of any business ever. How hard is it to follow a list. I get your a business on navy pier and its probably hard to fail with that location but that dosent mean you get to suck at your job and no one will care. Whoever is the manager during the day at 4 pm on aug 19, should be fired. They have no clue what they are doing. I suggest anyone that is thinking of going here to go to Harry Carays instead. They actually know how to follow a list and properly sit people in the order they showed up.
