From a one time insiders perspective: Okay, first, lets rate the food: It is very very good. The ingredients ARE always fresh. Its one of the few Chinese places in town that I havent gotten sick on the food. They dont, and never have used MSG. But it seems peoples primary concern is with delivery speed. Wow, many of these customers are over-privileged jerks. Well lets explain, since once I was a delivery driver there. First, if your dumb enough to pay a middle-man like campusfoods, eatcu, grubhub, or whatever, then you kinda deserve what you get. Your paying them to order for you.. Think about it, mull it over, yep, your an idiot. You have to pay a delivery charge, plus the middle man fee, plus possible credit card charge, and then most of you by that point dont even tip no matter how fast you get it. (although praise to the Employees of U of I) You think us delivery drivers have bad memories? We remember, and if you keep tipping nothing, (mostly the Asians on campus) your going to get your food after the people who tip nicely. Also, do you not realize there is a delay between ordering from the middle man, and the restaurant getting your order? Why not just call the restaurant? Next: Usually not the drivers fault. How would you feel if, all of a sudden you have 6-7 orders to deliver, but not all in one vicinity? Im talking, Order # 23 to be delivered to the airport, then Order # 24 is to be delivered to the mall, nearly 10 miles away, through traffic. Then order #25 is back down by the airport again, so you have to deliver #25 before #24 or there is no way youll ever get there in time. Then you have an order on Staley road, then one on Philo road. Then some dude tells you its been too long and opens up the bag and feels around inside to see if its hot, and even though it is, because you have been driving around in a hot hot car trying your best to keep everyones food hot, he wants a discount. Then it comes out of the drivers pocket. Then while driving to all these locations, all day, constantly you are berated and put down by many of the customers. As a driver, you must put your own vehicle and life, not to mention pedestrians and other people, like your children, in danger.. you want your food fast, and you live over five miles away, well that means a little bit of reckless driving to get it there on time. Next: The people behind the counter: The kitchen staff are very hard working. But the people who take your order, lets face it, its usually the person in charge(not always) and they need to learn other words besides "40 minutes" They need to not lie and tell a customer its going to be a while, and if they lose one order because someone doesnt want to wait and they order somewhere else, well at least you didnt make any of the waiting customers angry. That other person will come back another time. Meanwhile, did you realize that the online ordering services have no control over who orders from where, there is no delivery zone, its the whole town. So sometime just to see how it feels to be a delivery driver for a place like this, or any place, try driving from Parkland College in Champaign to Philo road in Urbana in less than ten minutes, meanwhile following the rules of the road. You might be less of a jerk about your delivery time.

I was in the area and it smelled good, or so I thought. I left my appointment, entered the restaurant and it was empty, but I thought, oh its 2:45 in the afternoon, which isnt a significant rush time. I should have let this be my indicator. I ordered a simple dish, Generals chicken. The wait was about 15 minutes and the cashier was more concerned with his ipad than customer service. The meal also came with crab rangoon. It was a HORRIBLE!! The chicken tasted like it was marinated in vinegar and it was rangoon without the crab, just fried cream cheeese...gross! I returned to my office and my secretary said it smelled like I was eating a greasy burger and fries. Another associate entered my offfice and said, "please tell me you arent eating China King! You should have talked to me, I could have saved you 7 bucks. That place is terrible!" He was right; a waste of money, greasy and they should be ashamed to sell it. Please avoid China King!

Just placed order around 8 and the experience was horrifying. First, most delivery man knows where FAR is right? He called me and started to shout at me for putting FAR for my address and for two minutes I listened to him shouting in Chinese voice and I really did not understand what he was saying....And when I said "I dont want the food if youre gonna shout at me like that just take it back with you", He was making fun of me sying that there wont be refund saying " HaHa There wont be refund bye bye" wow. this was really an experience. I just hope not I feel the same way to other chinese friends as I do to this dude. Well, I will never again order from this place, If that delivery man at least took his econ 102 he would know better that the customer is righteous..........lol OMG,,The delivery man called in restricted number and cursed me in Chinese.....lol

I placed a $55 order at 5:15 pm and was told 40 mins. An hour and fifteen mins later my order was delivered. My husbands meal was not in the the order so I called within 5 mins of the initial delivery to tell them it was missing. I was to they were busy and it would be 30-40 mins, I told him that was fine.... An hour later they still hadnt delivered the missing meal so I called again. I was again told they were very busy and it would be 5-10 mins.... 20 mins later still nothing so I called again and was told 5 mins.... 15 mins later my husband called and the me on the phone began yelling What do want me to do about it? and hung up, then when we tried to call back they would not answer our call. 10 mins later the food was delivered. So 3 hours after ordering we finally had everything we ordered. DO NOT ORDER FROM CHINA KING!!!!!

Had to call them, said their driver left 10 min earlier (driver was already 15 min late) I live less than 3 miles from them...still waiting.....20 minutes late....still waiting...got a call from grub hub apologizing for the lateness of our food, (35 min late so far) says it will be here momentarily...got a text stating it will be yet another 10 min (total so far..nearly 1 hr 45 min...website states 30-60 min)...meaning 45 minutes late...not good business...didnt give driver the generous tip I would have if china king had done their job..I know its not the drivers fault but as far as Im concerned HIS EMPLOYER CAN GIVE HIM A $10.00 tip for $16.18 (- the $2.50 charged for delivery) worth of food. Also our order was placed @ 9:09pm...the receipt shows 9:29pm...whats with that?

China King has the second best Chinese food in C-U. #1 goes to Golden Harbor, but China King is right up there with them. The beef and eggplant homestyle dish is TO DIE FOR. Even their basics, like General Tsos or orange chicken, are fresh and delightful. The honey chicken is too sweet for my tastes, but thats the only thing Ive tried and not loved. For those of you kvetching about the delivery - IDK, maybe go pick it up yourself? My husband and I always go in and order, and our food is ready within 10-15 minutes. Not so hard!
