My girlfriend and I stopped in Bloomington during a recent road trip and stumbling upon Luccas was one of the highlights of the trip. We pulled into town around 6 on a Friday night and decided we felt like Italian. We accidentally found Luccas and thought wed give it a try. We walked in and the place was packed which we took as a good sign. They asked if we had a reservation we asked how long the wait would be and they said 20 mins or so. We decided to wait (standing room only) and the owner asked if we wanted a drink while we waited. He brought us our drinks and we waited for a bit until a couple seats cleared at the bar. We ordered pizza and some pasta. The pizza was out of this world good! The pasta was tasty as well. My girlfriend has a slight allergy to fennel and didnt realize the meat sauce would have fennel in it so she didnt much of it. The owner checked in on us several times while we were there and when the bartender (who was our server - he was fantastic as well) noticed that she hadnt eaten much he asked if everything was alright. She off-handily mentioned her allergy. The bartender talked to the owner who then got us some cheese bread for free so she didnt leave hungry. To sum it up - great service, ridiculously good pizza, wonderful pride of ownership. 10/10 would eat here anytime and may make the 6 hour trip just to do so

Ive been here a few times and the food has been pretty good. Theres a definite atmosphere difference between the upstairs part of the restaurant (its very disconnected from the main restaurant) and the lower level. If I had a choice, Id definitely prefer to eat downstairs. This isnt always possible during the dinner rush. The pizza itself is good. Entree portions seem a little small for the price, but thats hard to judge because other "Italian" restaurants in town offer huge portions of very low quality and Lucca is more obviously focused on some attempt at authenticity and quality.

With 3 kids under 5 it can be difficult to find a nice place to stop in downtown Bloomington. Lucca Grill is the perfect solution. It has a friendly staff that are happy to provide full coloring books and crayons. The food is excellent and there is a good amount of choices. We ordered their Lucca Supreme Pizza and it was exceptional! Prices are all very reasonable, better than other close by pizza places. Really, it was a great experience an one I will be happy to repeat next time Im in the area. I love this place!

Just watched their story on WMBD. Sounded pretty amazing till the political ditz working there said that their restaurant survived Regananomics. Please google that if you dont know how stupid that statement is. They rattled of that democrat presidents have visited that place. They clearly must have those little no gun stickers and remnants of Hillary stickers on the windows. Id spend my money elsewhere with real Americans. Cant believe these liberals!

We ordered two pizzas, mine came and was quite crispy. My boyfriend ordered the meat pizza, which was nice, once it eventually reached him. The two clowns in the kitchen were messing around and managed to make the wrong pizza. Im the worlds slowest eater and had finished my pizza by the time his arrived. Not impressed, with a hefty $22 price tag attached to a large pizza, especially when it wasnt served on time. Would not eat here again.

I dont understand the love for this place. The servers and atmosphere are all great, but the food left me very disappointed. We spent $16 before tip in a minuscule 10 pizza and FOUR fried ravioli. The ravioli were delicious, but 5 bucks for 4 ravioli? Really? The pizza was NOT GOOD. I love me a thin crust, but I expected a thin crust of PIZZA, not a cracker. It was also way too salty. Overall, terrible value for the money.

Had their pizza for the first time after hearing about it for awhile, I have a picky family and they loved it. Pizza was great, but service was even better. Ordered take out, got there, was instantly greeted and asked what I was needing I told him, he said step right up and the bar tender was right on it. Thanks for going above and beyond in this day and age.

I like their pizza a lot. Not much to the place. Pretty standard. Its been around for a long time and feels that way in a good way though. Its your neighborhood pizza place that hasnt changed and its comforting. Its a little cramped downstairs but they do have more dining upstairs. Update: probably the best meatball sub in town

The A La Baldini pizza is the best on the menu, definitely sit downstairs if you can to get the full Lucca experience. I think Ive only gotten one "meh" waitress the whole time Ive been eating here. Overall great staff, cool atmosphere. Parking in their lot behind the building so you dont have to park on the street.

Sad to see other reviews. I adore Luccas. The pizza is fresh in a brick/woodburning oven in front of you. Their chili is to die for. The pasta is packed with flavors. Everyone Ive encountered is sweet!! I say go on a Tuesday at night because the barber shop quartet goes for a beer/pizza/sings a little every week!

What a nice place! My wife had the lasagna. I had some of the best chicken alfredo of my life so far. Ive had it at many places, and Luccas was of the best! The bartenders were professional and attentive. The atmosphere was so comfortable and casual. What a nice surprise when we visited Bloomington!

I went to Lucca Grill after a dance concert and it was very busy. The service was decent, if a little slow at times. The pizza was tasty, but a little overcooked. Portions of the crust had a distinct burnt taste to them. The restaurant itself was nice with good lighting throughout the restaurant.

Ive been to Luccas 3-4 timesI I love the pizza and the atmosphere. The pizza is fresh and crispy. Only reason Im not giving them a 5th star is because the desserts are lame (spumoni ice cream or cheese cake made from a jello base). Dont let that dissuade you -- you must try their pizza!

Luccas has a great thin crust pizza. The A La Baldini is a great pizza and by far the most popular, but my favorite is the Prima Veggie Special. The pepperoncini makes it. Also, try the deep fried Portabella mushrooms, theyre better than the button mushrooms.

Went there as recommended by the owner of a rt 66 gas station that is currently being remodeled. Interesting decor. The kitchen and bar is so compact that I asked where they washed the dishes, on another floor. They were able to prepare gluten free food.

The atmosphere is great, havent changed it since they opened in the 1930s. The pizza is fantastic. Thin cracker crust, with plenty of toppings. The menu is made complete with RC Cola products on tap. Service staff was wonderful and friendly.

We loved our find! Great food and atmosphere. We didnt however get a great waiter. He was not attentive, didnt bring bread or even offer it. He didnt get my husbands order correct but did adjust the bill. He isnt going to rain on our parade!!
