Four of us went for a little celebration, and were really looking forward to the evening. We had been before, and enjoyed the food. While the food is good, the service and ambiance is not a fine dining experience. The table setting has no cloth, no candle, no bread, no bread plate, not even a place mat, hard chairs, and just a single knife and fork. We ordered appetizers and enjoyed them, but when the busboy took our plates away he told us to hold onto our saucy dirty knife and fork. There was no place to put them but on a bare table, so we just held them in our hands! When our entrees started arriving, they came one at a time, even though we told our waitress that we each wanted an entree to ourselves. Two of us ordered the same thing, and those even came out five minutes apart! By the time three of us were served, the fourth entree of trout was no where to be seen. Our meals were getting very cold, so the one waiting for the trout told us to go ahead and eat! We finished our entire meal, sat there some more, and still no trout! After our plates were taken away, the trout came out! We mentioned to the waitress that the meal was very poorly timed, and she whipped back that most people share their meals, so it just comes whenever! (Seriously, it takes five minutes to cook trout!) Sarah was our waitress, was dressed in blue jeans, never cracked a smile, barely spoke, and acted as if she really didnt care what we thought. We ordered desserts, and to compensate for the 20 minute wait for the trout, she took $8 off of our meal for one of the desserts, and never once apologized for the problem. The dinner was over $180 for the four of us, and was truly not the fine dining feel that we had hoped for our celebration dinner. I was so angry with the place that I couldnt even sleep. Food isnt everything when you want a nice night out. A little comfort and grace goes a long way! ( and a clean fork!)

Autre Monde is only open because of the geographic location. This restaurant would not make it in Chicago. First of all, we are vegetarian, and Im guessing that the restaurant only survives because they dip a lot of stuff in bacon. Thats fine, but if you want really good, interesting, TRULY inventive food, drive to Quartino or even Davanti Enoteca. Second, the service is terrible. My husband and I ordered several small plates and the waiter bought them out one by one, staggered over the course of over an hour. It was bizarre. We couldnt really sample, because we were full before they brought out other items. The server never asked up if we wanted more wine--we had to flag another server. He randomly asked us if we wanted more pita, and we said, "sure." It took 15 minutes for the pita to come out and he had the nerve to charge us an additional $4 for pita, when the hummus had been eaten a while ago. The server later apologized when I told him the "staggering" of small plates was strange. He said he didnt want to "overwhelm" us with food. What? You cant serve 4 small plates at once? At least ask people what they prefer. What a terrible meal. Overpriced. Overrated. But one of the only games in town. That is the only reason this place has been open for 5 years. If Autre Monde ("another world") refers to mediocre food and really poor service, I prefer a different world, thank you. I wish I gave that $100 to charity, instead of spending it on basically tasteless food and overpriced cocktails, served haphazardly.

0.0 Stars. Im forced to break an old rule I stand by in not reviewing a place that Ive had a poor experience. The Brunch menu is limiting in scope but the wait staff was very accommodating and offered a hybrid option of eggs, over easy and hash browns, with coffee, black. How can you go wrong... wrong :(. The eggs were sunny side up, flipped over, over cooked and crispy. No worries, that was easily overlooked as I made my way to the hash browns underneath. Inedible, vomit inducing only begins to describe my first, and only bite as my stomach clenched in a effort to reject this vile material. I have never been so disgusted, EVER. I will never go back, EVER.

Autre Monde is a Berwyn/Oak Park restaurant specializing in fine dining fare. The husband and wife owners trained at Spiaggia, so they know what they are doing when they put out flatbread pizzas, pork loins and other American fare. There is a bit of a French flair going on with the dishes and the decor (as evidenced by the restaurants name), so dishes typically have a unique spin to them. If the fig/proscuitto pizza is on the menu, that is a sure hit. The beverage program also shines at Autre Monde, as they know how to mix a good cocktail using local and artisan spirits. Definitely get the Sazerac for a full experience.

This stop goes down as the highlight of our trip to Chicago! My wife spoke about the gnocchi dish the entire trip home as it being the best thing she had ever eaten. I had the tangine of chicken which was absolutely delicious. The place was packed when we arrived but the wait staff was exceptional. They kept glasses and the plates cleared. I would recommend this place to anyone but if youre from out of town, be prepared to be saddened by the fact that youll have to wait until the next trip to Chicago before you get something this great again.

Was there last night and the experience was great! We started with small plates for two of stuffed mushrooms roasted and vegetable and goat cheese flat bread. Then we shared the 1 1/2 pound fresh striped bass with herbs and it was more than enough and fantastic taste pan grilled for crispness and finished baked. I felt like we were in Florida with the days fresh catch! Love this place. We love the variety of small plates and large plates as they come one after another for a very romantic evening of food and conversation with my beautiful wife!

I was looking forward to checking this place out for a while and was very disappointed. If you have any dietary restrictions, Id avoid this place as they are not very accommodating. The brunch menu is meat heavy. I ordered a side of eggs and the spinach side and it was not worth the 12 dollars I was charged. I paid equivalent to one of their savory entrees and received half the amount of food. I couldve made the same at home for far less. The waitstaff, although nice, not very helpful. Bloody Mary was sub-par.

Autre Monde re-opened few weeks ago after a fire and is worth checking out! The former chefs of Spiagga is now the chef for Autre Monde! They also serve brunch on Sundays at this small spot yet elegant modern restaurant just outside of Chicago. Food are delicious gourmet Mediterranean food. Ive had brunch with three friends and we had enjoyed it a lot. Im looking forward to trying their dinner with cheese and wine. :)

My first time here did not disappoint! We had a great bottle of wine from Herzegovina. The Mezze Platter was delicious with homemade crackers and elk sausage with blueberries just to name a few. For dinner, our party ordered fish, chicken, lasagna and grilled broccoli. All were great, but the best of all was the dessert: hazelnut and chocolate pot de creme. Be sure to leave room in the belly.
