My hubby took me to Cucina Bella for Valentines day dinner. At first they sat us near the door. It was freezing and the waitress was not helpful at all. She didnt even place our appetizer order. We asked if we could be moved somewhere warmer and they moved us to the other side of the restaurant near the wall. It was much warmer and our new waiter was a tall brunette younger guy. He was kind and funny and knew his stuff. He taught us the proper pronunciation of the dishes we ordered and was just a lot of fun to talk to. Not to mention he was fast and very attentive. Seriously he was awesome!!! I really hope he gets some sort of recognition for his stellar service. Even though it was the end of what appeared to be a very hectic night he was upbeat, energetic, fun and fast. The best waiter I have had in a long time! They had a gluten free menu which was very helpful as I have a gluten allergy. The food was amazing and the portions were HUGE. Seriously, I think I had leftover gluten free gnocchi for 2-3 days. I had the gorgonzola salad and it was AMAZING! Best salad ever! They had a live band which I thought was unique... he was not very good and had the worst choice of outdated music ever especially for valentines day... but props to the restaurant for going the extra mile to make valentines day special. My favorite part was that they had the very high ceilings covered with pink and red balloons with super long curly strings hanging down. It was so cool. We were among the last people in the restaurant so they let us take home like a dozen balloons! My kids were so tickled the next day when they woke up with balloons tied on their door. The whole night was a blast!

I used to like this place until I got violently ill tonight on Valentines Day. So sooooo sick. Finally better five hours after initial sickness(diarrhea, vomiting, headaches) Never been sicker! My hubby is fine, the only difference we had was that I had ordered the chicken piccatta and he had chicken parm. Im just surprised, Ive never gotten sick here before. It feels like Ive been poisoned. Why would someone want to poison me? Not sure, but my children are going to wonder why mommy is so tired and looks like death in the morning. Its 5am, and Im feeling slightly better (5 hours later). I hope that the kitchen is sanitary and no one else got so violently ill on Valentines Day. It really kills the mood if you know what I mean. At least Im down all of those ingested calories, although it tasted terrible on its way out. Ugh. I cant say Ill be back. I physically cant risk that sickness again. Other than food that tries to kill you, the staff was friendly. Id give an extra star for friendliness if I hadnt felt like Id intentionally been poisoned.

We had a 7 OClock reservation, but still we arrived at 6:30. Not sure what we where going to find in this little brick building on a corner in Algonquin. Were we over dressed or under, what would the other patrons be like, were there going to be lots of kids or not. What we walked into was exactly what we were looking for, a small italian restaurant with a nice atmosphere, we were perfectly dressed, and there were no kids or any that we could hear. The prices were right on target at just over $100 with tip for drinks, appetizer, main course, and dessert. I had the Rib Eye on the Bone not to be cofused with Prime Rib, which was cooked to perfection and tasted great. My Wife had one of the Chicken Specials of the night which she said was Great. Also she had the calamari which was fresh not frozen, she said it was the best she had ever had. The Choclate Mousse Pie was great while my wifes Canolli was OK. Overall our experience was great, And Finally the service was Outstanding. We did end up sitting at 7 OClock right on time.

I am Italian and used to authentic Italian cuisine, mostly to Southern Italian cooking. Really wanted to like this place. Great little spot with nice atmosphere, but the food really left a lot to be desired. Ordered a braciole, and it was dry and chewey, and tasted like it had no filling at all. I noticed the meat was sliced in the wrong direction which makes it like shoe leather when you cook it, rookie mistake. They obviously do not have a chef cooking here, but rather line cooks that they try to train to cook Italian dishes. I ordered a plate of tortelloni to replace my shoe leather, as I figured you cant really screw that up, and the cream sauce was bland, and the filling was fairly bland as well. Have never been back, and probably never will. Shame, could be a great place if they invested in a real chef.

The chopped salad is amazing i had pork osso bucco with risotto and loved it. Its the best italian restaurant i have been to in the surrounding area. I cant give it 5 stars because this is the first dish i have tried here. I will edit if i am as pleased with my next dish as i was with this. House made meatballs were good but not amazing. Their fresh warm bread was really good too. I could come here and eat their chopped salad for lunch i enjoyed it that much not your average chopped salad by any means very traditional italian with the cheese meats and artichoke.

Cucina Bella is a nice little Italian restaurant nestled in downtown Algonquin. Each time I have been here, the food has been great. There are usually one or two specials of the day, their standard menu which includes popular Italian dishes, as well as plenty of apps. They also offer a design your own pasta dish. The ingredients taste like high quality and the dishes are HUGE - often able to be two or three meals. If you like Italian food and are in the area give it a try. They do get very busy on holidays though so be sure to make a reservation beforehand.

I love this place! The food and drinks are great. The portions are big so the price is really fair. They have a mixture you can ask for when they bring out the bread, of oil, vinegar, spices and cheese. I can make a meal out of that!!! The service is great. Its not ideal for BIG parties of 20 people on a Fri or Sat night, the place is on the smaller side and it is really busy, but we managed. Its not a big deal when its just the 2 of us. I highly recommend this place.

Finally got the chance to check out this hidden gem in Algonquin after living in the area for two years. I will most definitely go back often. The menu is very diverse and everything is excellent. The wine list is simple and has some very good selections. If youre looking to avoid the heavy traffic and crowds of Chicago, but still want the high quality food, this is it -- and its at a much more reasonable price. Dont pass up a chance to check it out!

Great atmosphere, and spacious dining area. Very accommodating staff and kitchen. Our waitress was very nice, and attentive. A pretty typical Italian menu, with a build your own pasta section. All of the dishes that we tried were delicious, and the portions are very generous. We tried the vodka sauce and the carbonara on our pastas, both were excellent. They also have sauces available to purchase which is neat. Will definitely be back!
