Let me start off by saying I was the most disappointed in this service here than I ever have been in any restaurant Ive attended . Im an Atlanta native but my grandparents live here in Washington. I have come to the square my entire life but especially on 4th of July. It is a family tradition of ours to come eat up there and then enjoy fire works. Tonight , it took us over 15 minutes waiting before we even got our drink order. I didnt note that as a red flag because I do understand with it being a holiday that it would be busy. Not to mention, my grandmother called twice this evening telling them wed be coming around 7:30. From here the service kept getting worse .. it took another 10 minutes before the server came back and took our order . After almost 2 hours of sitting there, the food was brought to the table completely cold and undercooked . My dad didnt even receive his food until much later , he only received it because we mentioned that they forgot his food . We received no refills what so ever or the alcoholic beverages we ordered . We also had to ask for silverware as well as condiments we never received. Needless to say the salmon I ordered wasnt even grilled like I asked , it was basically raw . We all left the restaurant pretty hungry not to mention the bill was a few hundred dollars . I think thats absolutely absurd to think its okay to charge us that much when I know the restaurant workers there knew how horrible the service was they gave us . I understand it was a busy night but if youre a restaurant business owner , you need to prepare for nights like these . If you dont have the staff , you simply need to keep your restaurant closed . I cant tell you how many people I saw going up to the counter because they werent being served and complaining. The jockey club definitely isnt what it was years ago ... I recommend the better restaurants around town there if youre gonna go up town and eat . Horrible horrible experience . The owner should be disappointed in their restaurant and their way of doing business . Will not be returning .

Walked in and was immediately welcomed in and to sit where I liked. The atmosphere was outstanding with antiques and other goodies from surrounding stores around the square and other small businesses. We ordered an Arnold Ziffle, Kitchen Sink, and a hotdawg. Our meal was received within 10 minutes. It was more than enough food and was delicious. We had to take part if the hotdawg and half a sandwich with us. The food was definitely worth stopping in this small town for and will be stopping everytime we come through.

I ordered Tuscan Soup and wasnt satisfied with the bitter taste. I asked to exchange for a different soup of the day and was denied. I feel that if Im a loyal customer and do business with you more than 5 times out of the month the least you could is an exchange if Im a paying customer that wasnt satisfied. The customer is sometimes right. You learn from experience and feedback of the customer on your food. Just bad business once the Jockey Club took over the business.

Not much of a person to eat at typical chain restaurants so this place caught my eye and it is definitely not a chain restaurant with the unique sammiches they serve. I tried the daily special, a shrimp po-boy, I didnt expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. This place is a diamond in the rough.

Made a 200-mile round trip to see this place and wasnt disappointed. Great sandwiches, a gracious host, and a charming old building in a quaint old town. Stop and visit!

The service was ok. Frankly, my Grilled Chicken Sandwich tasted just like McDonalds. It would have been nice if the sides had been larger.
