For West Cobb, this is as good as Southern fine dining gets OTP. Take it from a girl who got married at JCT Kitchen in Midtown, whose on a first name basis with the bartenders at Southern Art, and who eats at a Flying Biscuit at least once a month: Chicken and the Egg is the new leading Southern food establishment. This place was on my list of restaurants to check out for a good while. When it came time for my birthday, with my parents being in Kennesaw with my in-laws out towards Alpharetta while we live in Sandy Springs, Chicken and the Egg seemed like a good mutual ground. Me-oh-my it was the perfect choice. Our meal began with a round of cocktails at the spacious bar. If I lived/worked in Marietta I would frequent this beautiful counter often. "Fried Green Tomatoes" was playing on one of the TVs behind the bar (fabulous!) and my drink of choice was the Raspberry Blossom made with Hangar One Raspberry, St. Germaines, champagne, and framboise. It was pink, sparkly, sweet and a perfect drink for me, the birthday girl. With dinner I had a few glasses of feature wine: a lovely vinho verde. While the booze was a boo-t-i-ful thing, the food at Chicken and the Egg was the main event. Our party of seven shared some appetizers. First to arrive was the grilled Georgia peaches with blue cheese, bacon and local Tupelo honey. I could have had a whole plate of these tasty morsels for dinner. Next came the flat bread with Virginia ham (I was born in Fairfax so this was a great treat) with peaches, arugula and aged-balsamic. This one was a big hit with both mamas and papas. For dinner I noshed on the risotto with peas and scallops. While tasty, I ended up eating more of Kevin P.s chicken and waffles. Damn do they know how to make a good waffle! And the "all-day" braised greens were some of the best Ive had. The whole family left Chicken and the Egg a very happy clan. I hope that sense of kinship continues throughout this blessed year. It was one of the best birthdays ever and all a young Southern woman coulda asked for.

I took my mother, wife, and brother here on 11-1-14 for my mothers birthday brunch. I was very disappointed in the results. The menu looks great but our food was 1 notch above horrible. Everything was served at almost room temperature and all of our eggs were way over cooked. I took 1 bite of my sausage link and could tell it was under cooked! My brother and I ordered a side of french toast because the description sounded so inviting. However what we received was a slice of bread dipped in a plain egg wash and fried. By far the worst french toast i have ever experienced. We ordered homemade donuts and sausage gravy over biscuits for appetizer. The donuts were basically dried up muffins and of course when we finally received our sausage gravy (after asking for it a 2nd time) it was brought out just barely warm. Like i said the food descriptions are to die for but the actual results leave you sorely disappointed. I was excited to go for brunch b/c i have always enjoyed their farm house burger that i have gotten to go a couple times in the past but what we were served on this day was an epic failure. I just hope the cooks and the waitresses were having a bad day...too bad it was on my mothers birthday.

Came here for lunch. Took about 10 minutes to get a seat with no line...odd. There was one host that seemed very busy and could not handle the pressure. We got our seat and we waited 7 min before we even saw a server. When we finally got her she was short and also seemed overwhelmed. We finally got our food. Even though I asked for no tomato, a tomato still happened to get on my sammich. The chicken sammich came with a honey mustard sauce that was very yummy but there was almost none of it on the sammich. I asked for some more and eventually got that one too. The sammich and the salad were very good. Tasty and juicy with a nice tangy contrast of the honey mustard. Our server was finally less rushed and talked to us. She apologized for the tomato and brought us our check. Since none of the desserts were home made we passed ok dessert and went back to work. The service was clearly a sore spot here but the food is good ( did I mention breakfast all day?)

I highly recommend this location. My wife and I held our rehearsal dinner here after visiting it for the first time a few months prior at the recommendation of my sister. The meals are a welcomed change to the "norm" that you tend to see at other restaurants. Plus, the food is farm to table - so quite fresh and delicious! They have a bar area, open dining table area, and a back room that seats about 28 people comfortably for any special events you may want to hold. The back area includes a flat screen TV mounted on the wall along with AV hookups should you wish to bring in your own audio or video. The decor is reminiscent of a farm/country style restaurant and the staff are well versed and very polite and accommodating. If you only remember one thing about this review though, remember this...the food is OFF THE CHART GOOD! Stop in and have some. Great place!

Amazing food that isnt overdone. Im all about ambience, and this place was just do warm and rustic-chic. The sourgum butter (I think thats what its called) was so savory with a hint of sweetness. It really went well with the complementary cornbread-like rolls. I ordered the red snapper and oh my goodness, the flavor was so distinct and it was cooked perfectly, so flakey. My side of cornbread and garlic green beans were almost too delicious to be true. So warm and flavorful, but not over seasoned. I also love how all of the food is locally sourced and how creative the menu was overall. Truly a beautiful restaurant with amazing food...and our waitress was great, kept our glasses full, recommended some great items on the menu and even left a special message for my little one on her take out box. Very nice touch :) will be back!

Warning: Your Waistline Might Suffer. A friend and I went here for lunch. We mentioned to the waiter that we were going to split our meals. They served the meals already divided for us which was a classy service move, in my opinion. Speaking of service, it was very efficient without being over the top. Our glasses stayed full and a waiter was always within line of sight to help when needed. We couldnt decide on breakfast or a blue plate special so we shared one of each. The food was outstanding. The cornbread, the best Ive tasted outside my moms kitchen. And the snickerdoodle french toast made me want to run into the kitchen for the recipe. Fluffy eggs, fresh veggies, and good service. Ive been looking for an excuse to find myself back in Marietta just to go back to the Chicken and the Egg.

Im not generally picky at all but when I pay as much as I did I expect a little more food than what I received. I have been here 3 times, each time I have gone, something was messed up. Im usually SO easy to please and I never complain about my food. If it is wrong, I usually suck it up but the last time I couldnt. I ordered take out and my salad dressing and my syrup was missing, it is kind of hard to eat when the actual food item isnt complete. The time before that the salad I paid 10 dollars for was smaller than a side salad. The third and final straw were the fried green tomatoes - they were so salty I couldnt even eat them :( I really really want to like this place!! :( Try them, they are good and the decor is amazing but for me, the price is a little high for what you get.
