Avellinos in Decatur is my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Thats coming from someone whos lived here for over three years and whose favorite thing to spend money on is food. I go out to eat at least weekly, and Ive visited most of the well-known restaurants in metro Atlanta. Is it the kind of food you get at a $40/plate restaurant that you go to maybe once or twice a year? No. Is it the best in its category? I think so, yes. Lord knows there is no shortage of pizza places to go to in Atlanta, from authentic Neapolitan to greasy American. But Avellinos has its own unique and wonderful taste. You can count on three things during every visit: great food, fair prices, and friendly and attentive servers (who will come to recognize and address you by name when you show up as frequently as I do). Not to mention consistent specials on certain days of the week and a cozy location right on College Avenue with pleasant outdoor seating. If you havent been here yet, set a night to go for dinner, and I promise you wont be disappointed! Make room for the bruschetta, and save room for the cannoli. A final note to people who love hot/spicy food: Ive searched all over and love trying the hottest things available everywhere I go, but the Il Diavolo pie is unequivocally the hottest thing in Atlanta. It truly blurs the line between pleasure and pain, even for masochistic connoisseurs. If you think you can handle it, try it once to say you did, and then convert to my favorite for your subsequent visits - the Mt. Vesuvius with extra habaneros.

We love Avellinos and have been regular customers since they opened. I have tried just about everything on the menu and all of it has been good. Their marinara sauce is one of their secret weapons, they make it in house and its always delicious on pizzas or pastas. They also make a great thin pizza crust that has just the right amount of crispyness. Our regular rotation includes both pizzas and different pasta dishes, and you cant go wrong with either one. Ive also had a lot of luck with their daily specials, they sometimes seem fairly tame but have always been tasty. For dine in, they have a good wine selection and several good beers on draft, so if you can get a seat you can have a leisurely dinner with drinks for a nice casual evening out. The only downside of the place is that they only have a few tables, so unless the weather is suitable for eating outside it can be hard to get seated.

An amazing food experience. I was in the mood for pizza and my wife said she noticed there was a pizza place down the street. But this isnt some hole in the wall pizza joint, which wouldve been fine. The restaurant uses an incredible variety of fresh and local ingredients and has a fine selection of wines. (Not that Im an aficionado or anything. I just enjoy a nice glass of Pinot.) I devoured a pizza topped with pineapple and smoked pancetta. Outstanding. Great portions, too. Also our server, Charlie, explained the menu in great detail and was an attentive, appreciative server. The entire wait staff looked like they were on the ball. The atmosphere was upscale but unpretentious. Were sold. Definitely plan more visits to this place. Oh, and they have a TV and a bar area. Cool beans.

Friendly staff, attentive waitress, clean restrooms, cozy atmosphere, no problem parking. We started with a Greek salad. Nice dressing, fresh greens, so far so good... My wife and I each ordered different pizzas so I got to try them both. Fresh toppings, thin crust, not soggy and slightly charred just the way I like it. Our only negative and the reason for 4 stars not 5, the pizzas are served on cafeteria type plastic trays (no plate unless you ask) that made us both wonder if they were cleaned after each use. Last but not least, they offered an interesting selection of draught beer. I finally got to try Jailhouse Mugshot IPA, a tasty offering. Overall a pleasant experience and a great place to eat!

Awesome Italian restaurant in Decatur. I go about once every two or three weeks - dig the atmosphere and love the food. The eggplant parm is perfect, you get a nice plate of fried eggplant with cheese along with spaghetti and marinara, a nice buttery breadstick, and a salad. Have also had the eggplant parm sub, margarita pizza, and cheese tortellini, and its all good. Waitstaff is very friendly and prices are very reasonable.

This one is our place of choice. I would consider it a bit on the expensive side, but I love the pie especially when ordered extra crispy. The SPO is my favorite and dont forget to end the meal with a cannoli. If youre doing takeout, head next door to Ale Yeah! and pick up your favorite beer.

got two calzones delivered the other night. they were greasy, were stuffed with waaaayyy too much mozzarella, and i had stomach cramps for a week afterward! zucca or even johnnys wouldve been a much better choice. save your money and your stomach! dont go to avellinos.

Always an outstanding pizza. The garlic knots are my favorite in Atlanta. Staff is friendly offers great suggestions. The lasagna is really a piece of work - fresh and like Mama makes. I would go out of my way to hit the place. Its worth the trip every time

Mediocre pizza at exorbitant prices. Barely any toppings. Crust was decent, at best. A medium is barely personal size. Dont be deceived by the slice count. Too many other options to consider this place again.
