We love the food at Doc Cheys Noodle House, on Highland. We decided to give this Doc Cheys Dragon Bowl a try for lunch. Boy did we regret that decision. This location obviously doesnt cook everything here fresh to order. At the other one, you can actually watch the chef preparing your food fresh to order, right in the open kitchen. Some training for the staff here might come in really handy. We ordered the Samosa Spring Rolls, and the Scallion Pancakes. The spring rolls were incredibly tiny. They were mostly wrapper, hardly any filling. The pancakes came to out table burnt. We sent them back, but the new ones were just mediocre.I poured some of the "Tropical Mango" tea as my drink. I put those words in quotes, because there is nothing tropical, nor mango tasting about that tea. We both agreed that it tastes like sweet cinnamon candy. Gross. I ordered the choose your own Noodle Bowl with ramen noodles, chicken, broccoli, carrots, and the Japanese rice topping Furikake. The veggies & chicken were cooked nicely, but non of it was actually fresh and hot. My beau ordered the ramen soup with chicken. He said the meat was dried out (yes, even in the soup!) and he found the broth pretty flavorless. Like my dish, his food was not hot/fresh either. We were both incredibly disappointed with everything about this place. We will only take our Karma Card to Doc Cheys Noodle House location on Highland, from now on.

Tonight I ordered the Japanese bowl with rice, chicken, cauliflower and brussel sprouts & some appetizers. I thought that roasted cauliflower and roasted brussel sprouts would be hot - at the very least warm. It was all room temperature. When I asked the waiter told me that that was how it was supposed to be. I informed him that it was not how it was supposed to be and I wanted it heated but not in a microwave. He informed me that they no longer have woks at this location. It was so crazy that I could not believe that Doc Cheys does not have a wok in which to heat the food. I cannot begin to express how dissatisfied with what is happening at this location. I really dont like that the alcoholic beverages appear under the heading BOOZE - this does not reflect a dining experience I am looking for. If I am going to spend $30-40 for a meal with my wife it needs to be a quality dining experience. The food is over sauced, room temperature, and assembled rather than cooked. Normally I wouldnt care enough to write a review but this was so disappointing that I hope the owners will read this and take some action to remedy the decline in the quality of food they are preparing.

service was horrible and rude. we came in and a waiter (looks like some kind of manager) kept us waiting forever while he was doing some non-related works such as cleaning tables, adding ice to some machine, taking bills and bringing food for others. When other waiters were trying to take us to seat and took order from us, this "manager" guy stopped them and saying he wanted us to wait and didnt tell us why. So I went to ask the "manager" guy why we cant get seated. He said:"didnt I tell you to wait? cant you just wait?" I said:"why I have to wait?", he said:"because there was no seat, what is your problem?" That wasnt entirely true. We were the only customers waiting there at that time and there were quite a few empty tables. I said:"I dont like it coz you kept me waiting and didnt tell me why". And this guy says:"do I need to tell you why?". I know it was busy at that time. but it is no good to keep us waiting while there is empty table and available waiters, and even worse, stop other waiters from serving us without tell us why. horrible experience with the service, will never visit again.

I gave it the three strikes try. The first time, the broccoli was inedible. Burned beyond being able to eat it. I chalked it up to the newness of the restaurant at the time. The next time I came in, I made an order with the options listed but the counter staff said the combination couldnt be made. I changed the order. When the order came out, it was different from either orders. The third time I came in, I ate by myself.I had an appetizer, beverage, and a nearly full bowl of food. I went to the lavatory, came out & all the food was gone as if Id left, but at least the staff replaced all of it. Docs had better food combinations and the service was better by miles. All the staff seems novice all the time, which might be true. The food is okay, though, and with the proliferation of pizza and burgers, its the best healthy option in the village.

So I loved the original Doc Cheys. The environment has not changed - it is a great order-and-sit restaurant with an open and inviting feel that is perfect for lunch or dinner if you are in the Emory area. The Dragon Bowl part is going to have to grow on me. Dragon bowl is a bit "Chipotle" style, allowing you to pick combinations of rice/noodles, meat, and seasoning/flavor styles. There are now some food choices that will make you happy about eating healthy (brown and purple rice with quinoa, for example). Compared to the original though, the menu appears limited and portions seem to be smaller as well. I will say that although it has lost some of its original charm - the flavor is still there and the food is still good. Thats what really matters!

Plenty of food options for meat eaters and non meat eaters. Nearly every entree has the option of beef, tofu, chicken or shrimp. The prices are very reasonable and they have a few local beers. You can dine in order to go and service is pretty quick. My personal favorite is the Mongolian Beef as an entree and potsticks as an appetizer. Theres seating inside and out. This location does have a parking lot buy on the weekend you might have to park in the neighborhood across the street due to the other businesses being busy as well.

I visited dragon bowl today with a friend. They carried our food around for 10 min trying to figure out who it belonged to. After they asked us was it our food, my friend realized they gave her beef instead of tofu [were both vegan] and attempted to give me cold food]. I asked for it to be remade and they attempted to bring me the same food and picked out the beef from my friends food, but still no tofu. It seemed as if they had a problem with remaking our food. I cant imagine coming here again. I am highly disappointed.

DAYUM its good. Eat here at least once a week. Veggies are fresh and well-prepared (kale salad is amazeballs), ramen base is where its at, and their sauces take everything to the next level. Choose the sweet pickle garnish for added ecstasy. Even the Massaman curry--a departure from their build-a-bowl formula--is exceptional. They recently started serving the thai coconut chicken soup from the original doc cheys menu again. Splurge for the panko shrimp as your protein if its offered.

I really enjoyed the BiBimBap, delicious. The Shanghai Dumplings are very tasty. My son loved the Ramen Soup, saying "You brought me real ramen, not the fake grocery store stuff". Today I tried the Curry Of The Day & it was good but the curry sauce was too sweet & not spicy enough to balance the sweetness. You may choose to build your own bowl. This isnt haute cuisine, but it is tasty, relatively healthy, filling and quick.
