Good food, but be prepared to wait- sometimes MUCH longer than they tell you. My wife and I enjoy the food from Thai 5 and typically patronize the place once or twice a month. Weve been customers ever since they took over the space from Kombo Kitchen. The food is good, but the personnels estimates of wait times are severely lacking. The past several times that weve called in to order food, weve shown up at the time that the food was supposed to be ready ("30 minutes", "45 minutes", etc.), but have had to wait another 15 minutes, 30 minutes, or more before the food was actually ready. Most recently, we ordered our food (two entrees and an order of spring rolls) at 6:30pm and were told that it would be ready 45 minutes later. Upon our arrival at the trailer at 7:15pm, we were told "Your food is almost ready. Please wait in your car and well bring it out to you". After waiting for 25 minutes, then walking back to the window to inquire about the status of our order, we were told "Im sorry, but look at all of the orders we have" (while pointing to tickets hanging from the rack). The food was finally ready a few minutes before 8:00pm (almost 90 minutes after we ordered it- double the time that we were quoted). Upon asking why there was such a discrepancy between the estimated time and the actual time of the food being ready, we were told "Im sorry, but I wasnt the person that took your order". Because of the prices that they charge and the long wait thats required to actually get the food, youre better off patronizing other places nearby that offer better value and more timely service: Chef Thai & Sushi, Thailand Restaurant, Royal Palace, etc.

EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT! I loveeeeeeee this Thai place...I literally go weekly and highly recommend this to everyone to try...you will find yourself going back many, many times. They cook to order so expect to wait a bit or call ahead. Food preparation takes about 20-30 minutes unless they are really busy which might take a bit longer so be patient...it is definitely worth it! You order at the food truck window and can sit outside, take it to go or they even have a handful of tables inside with A/C, restroom and a TV!

Hands down my favorite Thai place in Tampa and its a plus its right near my house! I always order the Penang curry and the papaya salad (non ripened papaya, tomatos, and carrots with fish sauce). I lived in Thailand for almost a year and this place definitely comes as close as it comes to authentic. The papaya salad is always so fresh and tastes so similar to Thailands authentic dish. The service is great. The staff is super friendly. You can call ahead too, which I recommend, as they do get a lot of to go orders.

Its just ok. Big portions, but the food was just so-so. Very edible, but bland. The panang was watery, chicken was tough, rangoons had just a whisper of krab, but the papaya salad was probably the highlight of all of it. Very good! Everything is served in styrofoam to-go containers. I guess thats their gimmick: fast Thai food, but if you want great Thai food, waiting a little longer for your food is worth it.

Great Thai food! South Tampa has several good Thai places, and we can always use one more. The food Ive had so far is very good, and the staff is extremely polite. This seems to be a family owned place that has taken the effort to institute the same design and planning as a chain would. This is the kind of small business that you need to try out and to support.

Came here because of the convenience from the next door motel and really enjoyed the food but the quantity and overall experience was just not a 5/5 for the price paid for the duck box so for now 4/5 is what I can give. One nice thing is I only waited about 12 minutes at 18:00 which seems to be way lower than the rest of the reviews stated though.

Weve been going to Thai 5 for years while it was still a food truck! Chanel and the crew are super friendly and the food is authentic, theyll do legit Thai-hot if you ask :) Some of our favorites are the Pad Siew, Panang Chicken (or duck), and Pineapple Fried Rice. Thai 5 is one of two Thai places I go. Period. The other is Thai X-press in Brandon. I drive all the way from Dunedin to go here. Get their Noodles! Especially their Pad Woon Sen or their Drunken Noodles. Then dont forget to top it all with their crispy peppers.

I just discovered this place, and Id say its the best Panang curry in Tampa! Only $10 with chicken. This place looks a little sketchy from the outside, but dont be fooled. Very authentic, very nice people. Also, the banana dessert is DELICIOUS.

If you are looking for great Thai food, fast this is the place for you! The food is superb and a great take out place. For those who eat gluten free, they have a lot of options. My favorite is the amazing shrimp, medium spiced!

Incredibly good thai food at a very reasonable price. The staff are always friendly and happy and if something is already going to be spicy they will let you know. The pad thai is delicious and so is the duck fried rice.

Ordered takeout twice so far. Will be ordering more. Food was promised on time and still hot. Hot is tasty and perfect level of spice that wont leave you feeling uncomfortable. Chicken pad Thai was delicious.
