Last night was the first time for my boyfriend & I to eat at Miyako since we were in the area. Weve been to several Japanese restaurants & buffets, but unfortunately, this was definitely the worst one. The restaurant itself is set up real nice which was great when we first arrived but the experience went downhill from there. The hostesses & the rest of the waitresses were practically rushing everyone to finish their food & leave so the next batch could sit in. I understand the business of it & trying to get everyone in under a certain time frame but they were making several people very uncomfortable, including myself. I overheard 2 different ladies complaining that they were not done eating nor ready to leave but waitresses kept insisting on giving them the check. The other lady was in the middle of paying, meanwhile THREE waitresses are hovering over her table waiting for it & once they finished, they literally snatched it before they even left the table. The hostess watches you eat from afar & stares at you for a little while then signals her staff to give people their checks. The food was mediocre.. the sushi was definitely sketchy. We absolutely LOVE sushi but we had to skip out on it after only eating a couple pieces. They were poorly made and tasted pretty weird as well. Sure enough, immediately after, on our car ride back to WPB, we both caught really bad stomach aches & mine is still carrying on til today. I hate giving bad reviews but this was really disappointing. We definitely wont be going back ever. I highly recommend Santos in Coconut Creek or Saitos as well.

This review is being written not because of bad food, but because of one of THE Worst customer experiences Ive had. I went here on a Monday night, for the third time. My party got their food and sat down. On my way to get sauce, I slipped and fell in a huge puddle vomit which was NOT cleaned up. Since I was covered in some one elses throw up, I got a shirt and pants to wear. The manager told us to "call their insurance" to get re imbursed. Since the restaurant wouldnt file an accident report, It has gone so far as to wait for police to come and file a report, as well as an ambulance for my now beat up knee. Ive worked in this business for about 15 years, and NEVER ONCE saw a restaurant that a) doesnt help a guest after theyve fallen, b) doesnt clean up vomit from the floor, c) refused to reimburse a customer $30 for clean clothing (we pay at least $25pp to eat here) On top of this, the staff was Not helpful or concerned. Its sad because the food is good, but I will never be returning!!!!! They just want to churn out customers with no compassion at ALL. TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT

This place is pretty good. $11.95 for lunch buffet. They have a large selection of sushi rolls which many include tuna. the rolls also are not thick with rice like you may find at other buffets. On the nigiri menu they have a decent selection which includes tuna, escolar and many of the other classics. This is the only buffet I know of in Pompano you can find escolar. The hot foods are good and so is the hibachi. The atmosphere inside was pleasant. There of course were some negatives; The chopsticks they have are by far the worst ones you will ever use. They are the type that never break apart properly and are almost guaranteed to give you a splinter. Also the staff always seem to be watching you especially management like you are going to steal something. It is kind of uncomfortable. Lastly they do not devein any of the shrimp which on some bites came with a kind of bad taste but if you know about eating shrimp that is not deveined you know its maybe 1/10. Overall the food was good and for having a decent selection of tuna sushi and escolar nigiri they get a bump up from 3 star.

The Fort Lauderdale area has quite a few Japanese buffets. We have tried four of them over the recent years. Miyako is head-and-shoulders above the others. The sushi is always fresh and inventive. And the Oriental hot buffet has constantly changing items on it. They also do a wonderful Hibachi Grill. In addition there are many wonderful cold Japanese salads of varying kinds of seaweed and conch, and squid. There is also a section which includes freshly shucked oysters, peel your own shrimp, & crab legs. They also offer several kinds of sashimi and rolls that are made with cucumber strips instead of Nori, and no rice! There are usually three soups that are available that include egg drop, hot and sour, and miso. As most of these buffets do, they offer tiny portions of very pretty little desserts which I avoid. I stick to the fresh cut fruit. We enjoy bringing friends to Miyako, because their response is always "I didnt think a Japanese Buffet could be this good."

All of the food I ate was excellent. There is a HUGE selection of sushi to choose from. The hibachi is also excellent. The cook makes it exactly how you like it, and was super sweet in the process! I was so stuffed by the time I left! The pricing is very reasonable, especially for lunch! One thing you need to know going here is do NOT just fill up plates of random food to try then discard. They charge $5 a plate of uneaten food. I took very small portions to try and if I didnt like it, at least it didnt fill the plate. After we finished eating, we wanted a few minutes to finish our drinks and digest. We literally had 3 or 4 different waitresses come over and try to take our glasses away, and stalk us waiting for us to leave. I understand you want to clean the table to seat more people, but I just ate, I paid, and I am not rushing out the door. It was kind of intrusive and rude. Beyond that, I would go back just for sushi and hibachi!

We randomly stumbled in one day, close to closing without realizing it. We werent turned away and everyone had a happy face. And oh man! Im so glad we did! Best sushi buffet down here, weve eaten at all of them. This is hands down the cleanest, friendliest, best tasting and widest variety of sushi. Hibachi is off the hook too with VERY fresh ingredients. They even go around and replace grabbers for sushi, so they arent overly dirty like some places. Great price! I would even pay more to eat there. I love how the desserts are set up too. Perfect little rich bites of goodness. I may be small, but I know good food when I eat it. :)

This place isnt the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant that you could find. However for a buffet especially a Japanese buffet, this place is well designed. Ample seating, the choices for sushi was plenty. I had reservations about eating buffet sushi. This place has removed my initial concerns. The food was to me quite fresh and had that authentic sushi taste you would get from going to an above average sushi restaurant. They also had a habachi grill, salad bar which honestly could use a revamp and desert. But for the price you really cant beat it. Check this place out... Hopefully you wont be disappointed.
