I recently took a customer who was in town from Germany to this restaurant thinking the steaks, ambience and outdoor setting would be perfect. I was sorely mistaken. First our waiter seemed too busy chatting with another waiter to take our order. Secondly, the time it took to get our appetizers was very long, despite there being relatively few people in the restaurant. Third, I heard the waiters making disparaging comments about some of the other guests within earshot of those guests. Had the guests been paying attention I imagine they would have walked out. Fourth, the food was atrocious. You would think paying $40 a steak you would great terrific food. My "filet minion" cooked medium, looked exactly like charcoal or a space rock. My business partners fish was undercooked and smelled like they found it in the trash, and the sirloin steak my customer got looked like road-kill. I noticed there were a lot of stray cats around the table too, which are probably fed from guests who want to get rid of their terrible meals. Fifth and most offensively, I tipped the waiter $35 and when I got my credit card bill yesterday, he had added another $10 to his tip and the bill!!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! There is MUCH BETTER food to be had at Mortons in Miami or just about any other restaurant!!

My wife and I had dinner at the Miami Beach location on April 6th, 2008. Initially, everything - prompt seating, good service, attractive presentation of our appetizer and dinners - was great. Unfrotunately, there was confusion between two waiters as to which one was covering the table. The last part of the experience is what I remember the most; we couldnt get more drinks or our check without grabbing one of the managers. Before the last part of the experience, it would have been a 10 out of 10. While the manager was very apologetic with the difficulties we had, the last part ruined the image from the excellent earlier part, which really is unfortunate. While I usually tip north of 20%, with the issues involved, I didnt, which is also unfortunate as it was money that could have been "on the table". The view is great, the tables offering a great view, the food was great, but unfortunately the service ended up being a giant strike against the overall impression that we had - this should have been a 10 out of 10 if the service was consistently good. We would give it another try, and hope that this review helps. If I could have selected 3.5 stars, I would have, but as I have been a fan of S&W at their other locations, Ill give them the benefit of the doubt this evening...

We arrived on a saturday night to have dinner here. It really was a less than pleasant experience. Good food, not so good food presentation, bad service, long waiting time for food to be ready. We had reservations, it gets very crowded on weekends. We didnt have to wait too long. Then we ordered the food, and since the Miami Spice event was going on we were able to order a three course menu for only $39! That was great, considering that only one normal entree is more than $40. The appetizers arrived, everything was going ok, but then we started to eait for the entrees. After 15 minutes the server brought us on of out entrees, put it on the table, and then, after one minute he took away the plate, he had made a mistake, the plate was for another table, he didnt say even a word to us, he didnt apologize. After 30 minutes of finishing our appetizers, we received our entrees, way too long. The food presentation was mediocre, I was expecting something better. The steak was very good, but after being waiting for that long, the whole experience was damaged. Maybe it was a matter of a bad night for the servers, but overall our experience was unsatisfying. I think I would not go again.

Worst place we eaten in a long time. booked a table for 2 and when we got there were asked to stand aside by the rudist mate`d. when we got to our table 20 mins later, were left holding the wine list for 10 more.i then ordered a steak and asked for it to be cooked medium, it came out rare and the side of baked potato was black in the middle. The waiter apologised and brought out another one. he also took my steak away and said he would recook it. i told him that u cannot recook a steak, so he brought out another one. i spoke to the manager in the mean time and he stayed while i cut the new steak to find that this was burned on the outside and rare again in the middle. He asked if i could eat around the outside of the steak.and said he would not charge me for it. wtf ,i wouldnt have paid for it anyway. even the overpriced cocktail had such little alcohol in it u could hardly tell it was an alcoholic drink. Needless to say we didnt finish our crappy meal. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Pretentious place with a rude maitr,d with and food and overpriced. Ramsays kitchen fix needed here big time. First get rid of the maitre d at the checkout to start.

On a two days stop over in Miami with some friends, weve been searching for a nice steak house..and like S&W is called an institution we made a reservation at 9 pm. Unfortunately it became really a huge disappointment!!! The service was so bad, I mean, ok..the table wasnt ready..fine..but nobody brought as to the bar outside, the bar outside was packed, so we just stood there for nearly ten minutes till somebody mentioned us. We had a table for three, but we had to clear the table of our own, service was slow and not really helpful. We wanted to order an huge T-Bone to share with three sides. After a while the waiter came back to tell us that three things of four that we ordered are not available. Come on! And the the solutions were really poor! The waiters wine suggestion were also very disappointed, but well..The food came cold and the quality was really not as good as promised. No excuse or something.. For the check out we had to stand up to look for the waiter.. No, sorry guys, but it was a real fail! The view is really nice and because of that 2 stars, but never again. The price is justified in any way. I have a feeling S&W resting on its reputation!

I just ate at S&W for Thanksgiving and was sadly disappointed. The waitstaff really seemed like they wanted to be somewhere else: like at home watching football with their family rather than serving me. They treated me and my family poorly; giving my 18 month a glass full of water -- "saying we dont have kids cups." My Kindergartner was insulted when he wasnt given a menu -- even though he can read. And when I asked for a menu for him, the waiter looked put off. The maitred didnt know who was serving us, and there was confusion at first about who was our waiter leading to delay in serving bread, appetizers, and drinks. The food once we got it was high quality, and I give them a thumbs up for dealing with food allergies well. But if you are going to pay $100+ per person you expect more than what I got. I recommend S&W closing for Thanksgiving like their esteemed neighbor Joes on Thanksgiving, because all they did was disappoint a long-time customer.
