This is as good as it gets when it comes to traditional cantonese food. I read several of the previous reviews and Im guessing that their criticism is due to the style of the food rather than the actually quality. My family is from Hong Kong (home of Cantonese style cooking) and they were absolutely impressed with how authentic it was. Ambiance: excellent - okay youre probably not going to be impressed by the pink table cloths and napkins, the ornate polished wood chairs or the lazy susans but they are the standard for this culture & style. Service: average - this restaurant is run by asians and they have a different idea of what good service is but dont take offense and be sure to make a reservation before you go - they are VERY BUSY especially on the weekends. To them, the quality of the food is more important than an attentive server so they spend more money on hiring good cooks. Food: excellent - wow ... is all I can say. If youre asian and like cantonese style food then youll probably have to come here a dozen times or more to taste everything. If youre not, they have an "American Chinese menu" and a "Cantonese Chinese menu" - I would recommend going for the cantonese latter and asking for recommendations - the server will know that youre a newbie and are familiar with what those types like.

Overrated food, dont believe all the hype for this over-priced sub-par cuisine. I really wanted to like the place because the menu was different with interesting ingredients. The sea cucumber in oyster sauce was flat, thin sauce where the flavor doesnt penetrate into the sea cucumber. The seafood and tofu casserole was overcooked, where the gigantic pieces of squid, shrimp, scallop, and conch were rubbery, although the tofu was the only highlight. The salt baked shrimp used big shrimp, but totally under-seasoned. We also had a rude waiter who was an angry gentleman just tossing the plates on the table that he didnt even apologize when tge sauce spilled all over the table. We asked hin why he was so angry as he was packing up the leftovers and he just contined to grumble. We will never come back to this place and if you want Cantonese style food, I suggest King Palace in North Miami or Hong Konv Wok n Grill in Jupiter.

Food is so so, an acceptable poor medium. Have been there with a party of 8 people more than once. The 1st time only one server was talking to us in a descent way. I thought it should be that guy only. The next time we went it seemed less clean (may be we didn`t notice the 1st time) but what was very upsetting was a lady at the cashier who was extremely aggressive and no sense of customer care. Even we tried to give her a hand in setting the table due to the crowded evening of the Chinese new year, instead of an appreciative thank you we got a mad ``don`t touch. don`t touch``. She seemed in charge and had no smile on her face like she owned the world. I will not put my foot there anymore. I`ll gave my business to more agreeable people.

The first thing to know is that Silver Pond has two menus -- one has regular American-style Chinese food (I suspect the previous reviewer who had a wonton soup and an egg roll ordered from it) and the other has real authentic Cantonese cuisine. I lived in the NYC area for many years and this is the single best Chinese restaurant Ive been to in the US outside of NY Chinatown. One of the best meals Ive ever had was a late-night Chinese wedding party here that had 14 unbelievable courses. We drive 45 minutes to eat here and have been for years. If you want to really explore Chinese food, this is the place in South Florida. I would rate the service as average -- Ive never had any problems there, but they are usually pretty busy.

I had the General Tsos with pork fried rice.. I have literally never been so disappointed in Chinese food before. I really wanted some Chinese food and went out of my way to get.. garbage. Im honestly upset I wasted $8.25 for it, to be even more honest Id love a refund. The chicken was slimy, hard to chew, and looked almost raw. The rice was subpar. It was wet/soft and had NO FLAVOR. The chicken also had no flavor despite being drenched in sauce. Im still hungry because I refuse to eat anymore of it. I dont even want to know what the pork from the pork fried rice tastes like. The service I got wasnt the best either but fortunately it wasnt as bad as the food I got.

The best thing about this place was the prices. We ordered Schezwan Chicken, General Tsos Chicken and the House fried rice. The Schezwan was luke warm and bland, even with the red pepper oil they gave us. (which just tasted like oil with no flavor or spice) The General Tsos was soggy and inedible. When the server finally came back, (Just to give the check) he didnt even question why we had a full plate that was uneaten and didnt want it to go, just took it away. I could name at least 4 Chinese restaurants in South Florida that is MUCH better. Save your time and go somewhere else.

Going there for 22 plus years.....even with different owners, the chefs deliver five star authentic Cantonese food. Never sent a dish back. Highly recommended dishes include Cantonese Beef, Lobster with Ginger and Scallion, Crispy Hong Kong Chicken, Eggplant with Garlic in Casserole, Chicken with Black Pepper, Salt and Pepper Baked Squid, Special Silver Pond Shrimp (with bbq flavored minced pork), Beef with Eggplant, Blue Crab Casserole with Vermocelli, Peking Pork Chops, and Singapore Rice Noodles. Be prepared for lines on weekends, especially during "season."

The staff is beyond rude. We made reservations for a party here. The portions that were suppose to be family style were not sufficient to feed the group. The staff snapped at us for everything we asked for. They were so rude we were uncomfortable. In the end before we got our fortune cookies a hostess said to us there "are a lot of people waiting so can you get ready to go" (btw we just spent $380 & platters were still in the table). We will not return and do NOT RECOMMEND a business who treats their customers like this. Silver Pond is a profound disappointment.

Ive been going to the Silver Pond for quite some time now. I havent had any issues with the service. Granted, theyre busy as hell every time I go, and sometimes I have to wait a little longer to get my water refilled due to me sweating from the crushed hot peppers, but its nothing to shake my head at. The food here is excellent, but pricey. Definitely worth it though for going out to every now and then. I think most of the people writing the reviews here are used to General TSO/Sweet&Sour chicken from the mall. Anyway, if you want good chinese food, go here.

Dont go there! We had very terrible experience tonight! We were a party of four and been there many times. The food and service are always not bad, we have decided to go there again tonight. However, when we asked for the check and we gave them 4 credit cards, the lady from the cashier came out and told us the following: "PLEASE DO NOT COME BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN IF YOU WANT TO PAY WITH 4 CREDIT CARDS. WE DONT WELCOME GUESTS WHO PAY WITH 2 OR MORE CREDIT CARDS" Okay, I will not go back again.
