I attended Kaluz on April 16 with 8 friends. We had 8pm reservations and because of the South Florida sporadic thunderstorms we called to let them know we would be late when we realized how hard it was raining. We arrived about 8:15pm to be told that the house was full and we would be seated as soon as possible. We were seated about 9pm. Now, the food was delicious. Not one guest in my party had anything to say about the food or the prices, which matched the portions and the taste. Our gripe was for the service. When we sat down, our waiter asked if we would need separate checks. The birthday girls husband asked if they could be able to do this a group of a 9 and he said yes. (we had planned to pay in cash prior because usually most restaurants will not split a check for large parties). After our orders were taken our waiter came to our table and ask us for our order twice. He said he left off an entrée and he wanted to be sure that we all received the correct item. We were, obviously thrown by the statement, however we gave him our orders both times he asked. After we were done eating we waited for 30 minutes for them to find a birthday cake that we had previously dropped off before our 8pm reservation that was a surprise (and we had written the name on the box of the person whose name the reservation was in). When the cake came out we were ready to leave. We asked for our checks. We sat and waited another 30 minutes. Its almost 1115pm by now. The waiter came back and said that he was trying to split the checks. He then asked us THREE more times what we ordered. By now, we are ticked off beyond measure. A veteran waitress who was in our group helped the waiter by marking the seat numbers of everyone who had ordered and put couples together for him. The way she wrote it out was so simple a child could have understood. Another 20 minutes and we are still sitting. I finally get up and talk to the manager, whose name is Brian (or so he told me), and his attitude was completely rude and out of line. I asked him why the waiter offered to split the check if it wasnt able to happen. He replied telling me that the waiter was doing me a favor and that he was getting help and finally that there is a language barrier between us and the waiter and walked away as I stood there. Seeing how there were 2 doctors, a lawyer, two police officers and 3 teachers sitting at the table, I am not sure where the barrier was seeing how our waiter spoke perfect English. Then another waitress came over and finally helped the waiter and we got our checks and paid in cash and had to pay a 18% gratuity fee that was not worth it. Long story short, I would not recommend this restaurant to any one. They need new management and to help the staff learn the system or simply dont offer up things that cant happen.

Absolutely horrendous! Im appalled at the lack of care and sincerity of the manager on duty and his staff. Sadly, he didnt care enough to supply his name so hell be referred to as MOD(manager on duty). To start with, we had reservations for a large party for 3:15pm on Aug 10 at Kaluz. We had people show up at 2:00pm and they were told they could not be seated until the rest of the party was present. This is OK as any restaurant would have those same guidelines. As 3:15 comes around and the rest of the party is now present, the MOD expresses that he is full and we would basically have to find seating anywhere we could due to our party not being present when the space was available which was at 2:00pm. As a reminder, our reservation was set for 3:15 so the party not being prepared at 2:00pm should be EXPECTED! Luckily, we found seating outside. By this time, its about 20 of us with about 7 seats. We were LITERALLY sitting on top of each other. The MOD(still have not provided his name) continues to express how full the restaurant was yet he still found room to sit new people just arriving at the restaurant. If you have a party that had reservations and are now sitting at a 1:3 chair to person ratio, wouldnt you sit the surplus people in what ever seats become available BEFORE you sit the new people coming in? This clearly showed lack of care by the establishment and its employees! Unfortunately, peering through the MODs nonchalant demeanor we stayed and ordered food(still sitting on top of each other). As the waiter brought our food and placed it on the 4 by 4 table, his remarks accompanied by a laugh were, "Ill just place this(food) right here, Im assuming you guys are sharing". Clearly this waiter had no respect for us either! After about 2hrs sitting like this and barely having room for our individual meals, the MOD reluctantly gave the surplus of people seating right behind where the rest of the group was sitting. No apology, no compensation, no cares what so ever! Of course by this time, we were ready to go so his seating meant NOTHING. Might I add, it was a birthday celebration and he and his staff ruined it! Next time, I will go with my first mind and choose Grille 66. They always give OUTSTANDING service!

Upon my arrival, the first host caught sight of me and greeted me. She addressed me correctly and told me to go outside. I went outside and no one attended me and my husband for 10 minutes, more or less, despite the fact that I made reservations. So we decided to take the 7-seat table for the time being. Soon enough, a waitress or hostess came up to me and said that I could not take that table until all guest showed up. Of course, not everyone will show up on time for a wedding. She told us to go to (or wait by) the patio. We went to the patio (where the fake grass is) and from there, she never attended us again. I suppose making a reservation doesnt matter at Kaluz. We ended up sitting at the patio the WHOLE TIME. I shared my concerns with our nice waiter, who reached out to his manager and he came back to us, replying that his manager told him that, Its policy. Anyway, I decided to change my attitude about the outside host and think, This is a spacious space weve been directed to settle. Look at how less crowded it is. The environment is fitting for our guest(s). Our waiter was good; he took pictures of us at the beginning and the end. The other waiters and a greeting-by waitress were good; they talked to us politely. So I felt better and had enjoyed my time by the Intracoastal. In the end, however, when we were leaving Kaluz, there was a small group of people, less than 7, that were seated at the 7-seat table. Does that make sense at all based on what the outside hostess told us? I came there for a big event and her treatments as if I didnt matter. The valet parkers doesnt seem to know how to greet and say good-bye to people either (I guess unless I use valet parking) despite the fact that theyre at the front entrance. My husband the sort of lets-go-along-and-dont-rebel type of man, but because we have to deal with customers/clients almost everyday, I dont feel like dealing with people on negative terms on that particular day. P.S. The foods good.
