Had early dinner here yesterday Tuesday. While the bartender/waitress was nice the auxiliary service was subpar. Couple things....we ordered the Bulgogi (pretty tasty but heavy on salt), seafood Cous Cous curry and we were informed it would be a 45 mins wait for the Cous Cous to be made (Made fresh.......). Dinner service commences at 5pm and we got there at 5:45pm, how come the Cous Cous wasnt prepped and ready prior to restaurant opening? Secondly, we had to get rice as a substitution, unfortunately the seafood was scanty and overcooked. I asked my friend to complain to the manager about the dish but he chose not to speak up and suffer instead. The dish was flavorful but lacked a considerable serving of seafood and Id consider this a pricey fried rice dish. Last and the most aggravating to us as we now reflect back on our experience....the food runner was lacking in enthusiasm. He would not remove the appetizer plates from the table when we were done. I had to call him and then hand the plates to him. When he served us our entrees, same thing, he would not come around and place the plates on the table, we had to literally reach out and take the plates from him as he passed them to us. He didnt have a towel in hand and was holding our food plates with his hopefully clean and sanitized hands. I must have been in a really awesome mood yesterday as I didnt complain about any of these issues. I eventually asked him how long hed been working there, 3 months, it shows! Needs more training. Well, needless to say, my friend has no intentions of revisiting Bao and Im up in the air. This dining experience couldve been a lot better given the other positive reviews on here. May be ILL come back just for the ambiance and tapas but manager next time I will speak up!

Hip, modern atmosphere. Food was not spectacular but pretty good. Service was good, but had to ask our water to be refilled. Tried the $6 menu and ordered 3 different small plates. I liked the fact that you can try several dishes at once, so you dont get stuck if theres one that doesnt taste that good. The prices were reasonable for Las Olas. Below are what we ordered and my critique: Summer Rolls - cheap. The rolls were well constructed, but the nuoc cham sauce was weak. Need a better sauce, maybe something more innovative / Thai Noodle Salad - blah, needs something to spice it up / Curry Vegetable Samosa - didnt seem too fresh, maybe it was double-fried, because it was too hard, the 5-spice, anise flavor was a bit off / Clam in Black Bean Sauce - it was ok. Sauce a bit too sweet / Crispy Calamari Salad - good, but no defining flavors / Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice - delicious / Asian Seafood Paella - delicious, but dont order if you dont want sweetness / Lychee Saketini - excellent / Pineapple Sushi Roll - delicious / Passionfruit Dessert - excellent texture, Light, fluffy, but flavor was a bit tart

I am not usually one to post reviews/comments, especially negative, and as a resident of Fort Lauderdale and the E Las Olas area I know how tough it is to operate a business here, but I can’t help myself this time. The fact is, these 2 stars are here because the seating (we sat outside on the dock) and location of this restaurant is truly amazing. Along with any average food, this would be one of the biggest gems on E Las Olas Boulevard... BUT, having been there Saturday night I can clearly say: The food is basically the worst on the strip. I am not sure if they buy readymade food from the various restaurant suppliers or if they make their food once a week and simply re-heat it when such is ordered by a customer, but if you want to drop 30plus USD per person (drinks not included) and want to eat decent food on E Las Olas Blvd I can assure you there are many many many better options. A true disappointment…

The wife and I are slowly working our way up and down Las Olas trying different restaurants. This Fathers Day my wife decided to surprise me by taking me to BAO bar and Asian kitchen. We sat down for an early dinner with a reservation at 5pm. While looking at the menu we noticed the restaurant was very clean with a warm atmosphere. The waiters and waitresses were also very welcoming and served us immediately, never hesitating to refill our drinks before we ask. We started off with a hot and sour soup, veggie dumplings and some of their soft shell crab BAO buns. All of which were delicious. Then on to the main course. I had the sea bass and my wife the curry lamb chops. Both dishes were amazing. We highly recommend BAO. The only thing I would suggest to improve would be their ice tea. It wasnt the best, but that is being over critical. BAO bar one of the best on Lad Olas so far

This one is a keeper. Weve been trying a lot of new restaurants over Groupon and Living Social deals lately. Although we try to find fine dining, and upper scale restaurants, unfortunately majority of them sucks terribly. Im glad to see that this one is just fine. We bought the deal a fe weeks ago, and weve been waiting for a nicer weather for outside dining. FInally gave it a try this weekend. Very tasty Chinese food, I should say. No need to order from their entree menu, as the starters are just as big for an average $10, which is perfectly fine for Las Olas. They also have an extensive selection of sushi or other appetizers (real appetizer size this time) for $6. We tried total of 4 dishes, all were good, and I cant wait to try some more from their, menu. Especially more fresh tempura :)

Finding the restaurant is surprisingly easier than I expected which is great, and its next to a parking garage so travel time on foot is not long. I walked into the restaurant with a friend of mine and asked the hostess for a table for 2. She then looked at us and said we would have a "really long wait" so we decided to eat at the bar. Service at the bar was really great. I was just confused as to why we were directed there and inside was literally EMPTY. On a positive note their food is really great and affordable. My only other concern would be the fact that the hostess texts non stop and she is positioned in front of the door its pretty rude.

The view is amazing and the atmosphere is good. Some of the dishes were good. However I made the mistake of ordering fried rice one day... Which was mixed with old ingredients... The chicken that came with the fried rice were 3 different varieties, one of them was definitely pre-made hard-pressed salad chicken with spices (chili pepper, oregano, and other flakes) pressed into the pieces, and those individual pieces were cold. I just hope that it wasnt from another persons left over chicken salad. The other variety of the chicken was fresh, diced in cubes, no spice flakes but also had no flavor.

We had the best food and went back a week later for super consistent deliciousness! We had the honey walnut shrimp, pork dumplings, sweet and sour lollipops, and potato croquettes. All the food was fresh, hot, and scrumptious! We also had the best pink geisha martini! The atmosphere was beautiful sitting on the dock. The kimchi popcorn was a nice touch. However, we got cotton candy after dinner the first time and not the second, which was a bummer because it was a nice end to the meal and we tipped better when we got it. Overall, best meal we have had in Fort Lauderdale!
