Having lived here three years not, I can attest to the fact that service at this Perkins is consistently appalling. For one thing, servers do not check back for drink refills. They zoom around the floor, cutting off customers as they have to maneuver to avoid a collision. The food is usually okay but on a recent visit it was disgusting. The order was simple: an omelet with hash browns and toast, and a water. The omelet was warm, not hot. The hash browns were cold and worse that what you might get at a "greasy spoon". The butter-like liquid was so saturated that half of my napkin was soaked when I tried to sop up the excess. The toast was worst of all... it was not the least bit warm. The "butter" was so heaped on each piece that I scooped more than a teaspoon of the stuff off; I flung it across the table and seat! Even then, the stuff was glopped on so much that when I spreading it across the pieces of crusty bread, it remained as solid... not a bit of it melted. I surely did not leave a tip for SERVER 58 STEPHANIE. The cashiers here are generally an unfriendly sort. On this occasion, I submitted a coupon - 15% off the total bill. After she clipped the coupon on the restaurants copy, the discounted amount was less an a dollar credit. I questioned the cashier and she snapped back that the discount did not apply to other discounts, such as from the senior menu. I got nasty back, and assured her I would never be back. I also assured her I that my survey for the visit would be representative of the quality of the food and degree of service. I get better service at KFC, Burger King and Steak n Shake, and the meals are consistently hot. On a recent visit to Daytona Beach (25 miles away), I stopped at Bob Evans... the service was excellent, the waitress friendly, the clientele pleasant and the food was right-on with my drink refilled without asking. Again, there was no tip for SERVER 58 STEPHANIE.

Vegetarians stay away! I am totally in agreement with Gary on this. They asked for feedback, and my rating was positive, but I added the comment that I want more vegan options. To which the women at the cashier replied I could always just make stuff up not on the menu.. As if I am a moron and didnt just eat there and do exactly that because as a vegan they left me no choice. I used to eat at Perkins regularly, but times have changed and Perkins hasnt. Why do they ask for feedback if they are going to make dismissive comments when we give it to them? I dont think it is unreasonable either, this day and age, Dennys has a veggie burger right on the menu, I have to wonder if there is some kind of anti-vegan bigotry going on that keeps this place stubbornly resisting taking such steps to make us feel welcome. They call themselves a "Family Restaurant" and treat vegetarians as second class. Eat there with your vegetarian friends, and we will be too nice to say anything about it, but in the back of our minds we are wondering if the "family" here is actually just a euphemism for intolerance, as it seems to be among certain political movements. I eat out all the time, and I have never written a negative review about any other restaurant. This is the first, because they made me feel like I really dont count. I do not know if it was the food or the treatment, but I left there with a belly ache.

Although the food is acceptable, service is consistently short of expectations. Service comes at the point of ordering and at receiving the check. Servers dont check back. Drinks are re-filled only if you can flag down the designated server for your table; its of little help when the server at the end of the meal asks if you want a drink to-go. 10% tips are perhaps deserved, but nothing more. With good service I gladly deliver a 20% tip. Not here. Cashiers arent necessarily friendly... and the card machine at check-out is so skanky that its frightful to think it may be indicative of the level of cleanliness in the kitchen area. Unfortunately, there are so few mid-priced family restaurants in De Land.

I recently went to the Perkins in DeLand for dinner with friends. The location was very clean, the waitress was courteous and efficient. As our dinner was served, the manager came to speak with us because my friends are regular patrons. He was friendly and outgoing and remembered details about them. I had a minor problem with my dinner and he was very quick to offer me another meal immediately. I was full of veggies so declined his offer. When it was time to go, my friends received their check but I didnt. So I ask the manager and he said my dinner was free because of the issue I had. Very unexpected and gracious of him. And the food was excellent. Return trips are scheduled.

Poorly run. No food quality standards what so ever. Long wait. The food we ordered came out wrong. Poorly managed. We almost got up and left but this was our only option. Food was soaked in grease with no seasoning very bland. The manager was a joke. He has zero managing skills. The service you cant complain about our waiter seemed very busy and struggling to keep up. More than 3 tables were left dirty and uncleaned. Will not be returning to this location. The whole place smells like a nursing home.

Service lousy small piece of pie for $3.39. Took over 45 mins to order, eat a slice of pie and a cup of tea. Waitress brought tea cup no hot water. Waitress did she would be back after taking another tables order. Delivered more food still no waitress. Shift leader took order for drinks, she forgot what it was. Hot decaf tea slice Apple pie

I ordered my drink and my food. I asked for a glass of water that Im still waiting for. The waitress never came back to check up on my grandfather and I. However she was very excited that someone had left her a $5.00 tip because her "charm" was finally working. The food was okay.. The service really ruined it for me.

Food passable, service is friendly, but this particular Perkins completely sold out. Its no better than a Dennys. Menu has been stripped. Its about 78 degrees and smells like old people. It took about 15 min to take our order and about 40 min to get our food, which was wrong. At least the bakery was good.

The evening staff here is very nice. The night manager, Andy, in particular is phenomenal. While in school I frequented this Perkins on almost a weekly basis. The late night deals that they have are great for the poor college students budget as well as their schedule.

The food is always delicious! and they come up with new stuff every so often. the place could get packed on weekends after church and the place has an overall odd smell to it that my kids always point out but the food is excellent and everyone is absolutely friendly.

My grandma and I wanted a good lunch, and we had to wait a hour plus time because they say they lost our ticket. After getting our food it was cold. Really. I will not eat here again. I dont believe they like colored people here either. Sorry for being black..
