This weekend I went to the Rasoi Indian Kitchen restaurant and had really bad bad bad expiriance in my life. I went to Washington, DC with my friends for a day and we already plan to have dinner in Indian restaurant. I got a good deal on Groupon for Rasoi Indian kitchen and bought it. Around 6.30 in evening I called restaurant regarding reservation as Groupon mention reserved before you go. Restaurant manager picked up the call and talk nicely regarding time and said we do not take reservation and first come first service. Then I mention I have Groupon. She told me hold on for minute I need to see the reserved table and after one minute she replied me we have table available after 9.15 only. How can you answer like that as manager once you told first come first service? I told her let me word with my friends and call you back. After talk with my friends I called again to cancel my booking and one guy picked up the phone. I request him to cancel my reservation. He told me you are not reserved you want to reserve a table? I asked him you have any table free before 8 PM. He said yes than I told him I have Groupon. After long silence he talks with me and asks my name and how many people. So finally I booked table with Groupon deal. We went there around 7.50PM and went inside the restaurant. Manager (lady I spoke first on Phone) ask my name and replied I told you, your reserved time is 9.15. I am trying to explain her regarding the second call but she wants us to step outside of restaurant first. That was the big insult as loyal customer in front of everyone. First time in my life I see this kind of manager behavior to the customer. We stepped outside and she put reserved sign on all table. We were still outside the restaurant and watch all hilarious thing did by her. At last one Restaurant server came and told us to explain all things. We explain him all the Phone talk. After 15 min he came back as told us you threatened our manager so you are not allowed to be seated. You may go now. What the hell. You are out of your mind. This is the way to welcome customer. Really bed and worst experience, I had in my life. I never recommend any one to this restaurant. I also want to request Groupon to remove this kind of restaurant from your list as they not respect the customer and your deal. I decided that day I never use Groupon to buy any restaurant deal in future.

Should name it as Rude Rasoi: Today i visited Rasoi with my child wood buddy, after a long time we met, thought this is a quite and nice place to have lunch to-gather. I visited earlier this place and did not find any problems, except the same menu repeats every day in buffet. After sitting around 15 min when we are having the lunch, waiters are doing their job nicely but the manager(cum Owner) started coming now and then and keep asking are you done with this, can i ask to take this off, once i went to have some fruits she asked the waiters to take the things off from the table including the fork and knife. Again i had to ask them. She irritate us so much, then we decided not to pay the tip and write a note in the bill. Then dropped the idea of writing the note. BTW generally people do not charge tip for buffets. While coming out she start arguing why we did not pay the tip. I told her because of her behavior, we decided not to give any tip. She started yelling at us, saying you guys should have charge more and we do not know how to reward the people/waiters. I told her its not waiters, its you(management who behaved rudely). When every one start asking what is her problem then she went inside the kitchen and shouting from there. Generally in places waiters may rude, but management is always try to be nice with customers. But here i saw other way around. Waiters are nice and management is rude. Hat off to the lady owner. Btw, regarding the food, except chat, thandoori chicken and fruits nothing worth to mention. I used to visit earlier now and then, but now on i will stop going there and advise my friends and colleagues the same Last but not least after going thru other reviews i checked my check and see $30.69 for 2 buffets($11.99 each). i think i was over charged, so if you visit, cross check your check. This is for Rasoi management(Esp that lady boss), try to make the money with better ambiance and quality food, do not try to live with TIPs. If you want to live on tips better do the job where you can get more tips.

Two words to describe our experience: EXTREMELY ATROCIOUS. I went with my family of 5 to this pathetic restaurant in DC yesterday at lunch time. Ambiance was not very bad but the service was, right when we stepped inside the restaurant. The person took a while to figure out where he wants to place us although there were several empty spots around. We waited and waited just to get some water filled in our glasses. We then figured its a buffet (which I wasnt very happy about since I know that most of the restaurants serve last night stale food in next day buffet) so we went to get our first round. I started off with some salad and boiled chickpeas. I could sense a foul smell from chickpeas right away and I asked everyone else to eat that. The lettuces in the salad were also seemingly withered. Anyway, we went for a main course. Long story short - Rice were not cooked up to the mark neither was paneer; Pakoda Kadi was immensely tangy (Im sure that was also stale from last night); Naan they served took a while to come to our table and finally when we got it we felt we were eating a piece of rubber. By this time I was awfully displeased with the food quality. I saw a person next to my table having mango lassi. I thought of going for one of those (was my biggest mistake). Lassi was again extremely TANGY!! I couldnt have more than 2 sip of it.. Finally it was payment time.. The bill they came with was outrageous - $86!!! TRUST ME. Every word of this is a fact.. No exaggeration. Go to this place only if you love to eat STALE and HALF COOKED FOOD which is extremely TANGY and for which you can pay CRAZY price.

I just started working back in the downtown DC area at Int. Square. Read the reviews on Rasoi after passing the sign out front. The reviews seem pretty descent, enough for me to stop on in. When I walked in, I was greeted by a nice lady and took a seat at the bar (since it was just myself dining for the buffet) the bartender, Pete, fixed me a nice scotch on the rocks and off I went to the buffet! They had 3 salad varieties, about 5 vegetarian and 2 non-vegetarian dishes prepared as well as some potato veggie rolls and rice pudding. I tried everything they had and was not disappointed in the taste and quality. The service was beyond excellent as they described every dish to me as well as the dipping sauces and Nan. I got to meet the chef (a lovely motherly lady whom gave me a $10 coupon for my next visit) and looked around to make sure everyone in the establishment was getting the same service I was awarded. One review said you would not be able to do anything upon returning to work and it was oh so true. I-AM-STUFFED! Not because it was a buffet but because the food taste just that good, I couldn’t stop eating it. Kudos, Rasoi!
