Went for sushi, got my 2 standard rolls and a wildcard, pretty fresh, shape and balance of cuts were off and not consistent, rolls were tasty, fresh, had subtleties, were pretty nice, spicy tuna was a little too spicy. Service was excellent, perfectly attentive, but not overly attentive. Decor was solid w character, restrooms were clean, entryway is gorgeous and welcoming on the way in and good willing on the way out. Folks (employees?) smoking on bench right by the front door was unbecoming and making my review take a hit for the worse; aesthetically unenriching to the overall experience...maybe theres a back door for the same purpose? Im less inclined to go back for sushi but intrigued by the possibilities for their lunch buffet.

Not much food choices for lunch buffet to compare to the other ones near this place for example like uraku or not even Japanese buffet like chinese hibachi style ones. Really thin slices meat for sushi and rolls and limited variety. place doesnt even have sashimi for lunch buffet which others do. Soup for buckwheat noodle was sour... I think it shouldnt taste sour at all.... So it was kind of new taste to me...i thought it was eather old or they put vinegar to keep longer period of time. It means I will never come back to this place for lunch Or dinner. I would go to other places for the same price.

All you can eat sushi, Korean food, Japanese specialties and some Chinese dishes for under $20 during lunch hours. Dinner is normal table service. This is the best lunch buffet in the region for anyone who wants top Korean dishes and sushi. The buffet is small and the limited selection caters to the authentic Korean palate with rice/bean pilaf, great kimchees, acorn, chopjae noodles and much more plus vegetable tempura, Chinese dishes for the less adventurous American diners and, maybe best of all, an impressive sushi bar selection that is replenished well.

Very good sushi, and a great price. Ichiban has a very nice lunch buffet, and has plenty of Sushi on the buffet. You have to be careful not to go directly at noon as it very busy, and the chefs have a hard time keeping up with the demand. Otherwise, the food is excellent and a very good price. Not the friendliest staff in the world, that is the reason for the 4 stars compared to the 5. However, the staff does nothing more than clean up your plates and get your drinks, so not a big deal. Make the trip for lunch, it is well worth it!

I had very high hopes for this restaurant and it was honestly a bit of a let down. The service was very hands off and didnt come to check of me, you have to call them, just like youre on an airplane, and the food didnt stun me or knock me off my feet. Also, the restaurant is branded as a Japanese one, but its a mix of many Asian cuisines with a large emphasis on Korean food. So dont come here if youre looking for just a true, authentic Japanese experience.

I lived in South Korea for about 10 years, and have had home cooked meals from my Korean mother. This place is the closest to authentic Korean BBQ and side dishes that Ive had in the states. Always delicious - and better than Yechon, Iron Age, Honey Pig, etc., This place is very comparable to some high-rated Korean restaurants you find in Annandale, VA.

The food is amazing and the staff are some of the friendliest people around. Everything we finish eating my two little girls always give them hugs and the staff asks if they would like a lollipop. Tip: cook at your table..its fun and you can cook the food how you would like ( they will help you if you need it). Get the short ribs you wont regret it!

Really great lunch buffet! Im not one to do buffets but I decided to take a chance and was completely blown away! The food is incredible and the service is just as great! I believe they do a normal, sit-down type service for dinner, but Im not sure. I wouldnt say it was busy for a weekday lunch, but it definitely wasnt slow. I highly recommend!

The food at this place is simply awesome!! Ambiance A+. And if you love sushi and sashimi, you got to try Ichibans. Definitely a best kept secret restaurant right in Gaithersburg, MD. Its at a location that one will not really pay attention to and would not think houses a place that gives you the best tasting food in Montgomery county.

Has a very reliable, but fairly expensive, lunch buffet. The layout and items are always the same, and have been for years, but the quality is very good, especially for the Korean dishes. Look for the ojinga dup bap and jae yook. The service is friendly and speedy. At dinner they have a variety of decent and usually good Korean entrees.

I occasionally come to this place with friends, colleagues or family. Liked spacious seating fresh sushi and sashimi. Strange this restaurant is not so crowded. Servers are always kind and prompt to help. Its one of the best restaurants for sushi and Korean cuisine.

Ichiban still rocks it after DECADES!! I ordered my favorite sushi Bento box and the sushi melted in my mouth and all the tempura and tasty sides were awesome! Little radishes, seaweed salad NOMZ all for $26. Worth every penny

Yummy. Huge portions. I cant remember the name of what I ate but it was a bibimbop with sashimi in it. They didnt have the lunch buffet when I went because there was a party. Ill try the buffet next time.

Good food, Great service... Pleasant ambience.... but food is slightly pricey. The place was all empty when we went there on a saturday night. i guess its because its got to do with the location.

This place is always consistent with their food. Ive never gone there and was disappointed by what I ordered. Ive also been to events where food was catered from there and they do a good job.

The sushi was good but the galbi wasnt good. It was too tough for chewing and burned. And very pricey. One time experience is enough. There are more better place with decent price.

We ate there for dinner and it was very good. The ambiance is not elegant, but the service was good and the food was very good. It wasnt too crowded and the place was clean.

The food was OK, but it wasnt generally there. The buffet was supposed to close at 2:00, but they ran out of materials at 1:50. It wasnt a very good experience.

This really is one of the best sushi lunch buffetts in montgomery county. Always fresh and the hot food is actually very good. Great atmosphere. Enjoy!

For the buffet price, it was OK. There wasnt a big selection though and the non sushi items were a mix of Americanized Chinese food and tempura.
