Ill start off by saying that im not a review person and literally have never written another review about a restaurant in my life. But at this point ill have to take time out of my day to say that this place is just awful. If you want consistency of ANY sort do not go here. And also let it be known that I did not come here once and have one bad experience and barely gave the place a chance. I have been here over 10 times over the past 5.5 months and I probably have 3 good experiences. Why keep coming you ask? Well first I live across the street so convenience helps quite a bit and second the food CAN be good so i try to make my orders simple and I sit at the bar. I have had large groups small groups lunch meetings solo dinners and even to the point where I have made it so pain stakingly easy to serve me that I sit at the bar and order a water and chicken fajitas. Essentially they have to pour me a glass of tap water and cook me a chicken breast with some peppers and serve cold condements in small jars on the side. When it takes you 50 minutes to cook and serve a chicken breast (maximum 3 oz it was tiny... oh and the whole gastro pub excuse is weak because the servings were 3x the size 4 months ago I can berely fill 2 tortillas now) and forget 2 of the sides? Thats kind of where i draw the line. Especially when i ask the dude behind the bar to check on my order and he stomps around behind my chair dropping f bombs under his breath (this happened twice). I have had wrong orders brought out at least 4 times cold food 3 times rude waiters (when i used to sit at tables which i stopped because it got too embarassing and opted strictly for the bar) 3 times and guess how many apologies?! ZERO. Not even a mention like its part of the places "mystique". I have sat down with 4 people at a table and waited 20 minutes for someone to even take a drink order before we walked out. One time i had my waiter pour himself a beer and sit and talk with his friend at the table next to me for 20 minutes after I was served and literally had to get up and go over to him to get my bill. I said "sorry to interrupt" and he said "its ok im done anyway" I have been through almost 6 months of this garbage and I am finaly boycotting this place entirely. Hopefully the next place has some proper management and customer service because as a multiple business owner myself I have no idea how they plan on staying open.

Upon walking in, I had high hopes...the atmosphere looked fun and we were greeted by a friendly hostess. Chips a salsa seem to be a staple at most Mexican restaurants so I feel that these items should be on point. The chips were very bland and the salsa was just okay. We had started with an order of guacamole and unfortunately it was pretty bland also, coupled with the same chips that were provided with the salsa, Del Pez certainly missed the mark on the basics. For dinner, we ordered Chicken Enchiladas and the Shrimp Tacos. Both entrees were comically small, it was honestly a joke. Aside from the portion size of the shrimp tacos, the taste wasnt terrible. Unfortunately there were no redeeming qualities with the chicken enchiladas. Again, tiny portion size and tasted nothing like a real enchilada...other than the shape, they were almost unrecognizable as enchiladas. Tasted more like bad chicken pot-pie rolled up in tortillas. The side of rice and beans consisted of a half cup of rice and maybe two table spoons of black beans....these items are so cheap I cant understand the need for a Mexican restaurant to be so stingy with them. Although we waited awhile for our drinks, they were pretty good so at least there was that. All in all, terribly disappointed with our experience.

Gosh I wish Wilmington could figure out how to make use of a cool space! The place looks great. Wait staff (as seems common in this type of establishment in the area) seemed like it was their first day on the job with no prior waiting experience. Our waiter told us about all of himself without us asking and then shook our hands when we were leaving - I dont really want to shake my waiters hand or think about him doing that with other patrons who had their taco fingers all up in their mouths and then came over and shared some of their yum yum with me. Nachos were okay. Taco sampler was barely edible. Guacamole was okay and salsa was fair. I expect this place to die a slow death like most other mediocre places in this city. Good thing we had a gift certificate so that we didnt feel too badly dropping $70 on a poor experience.

Fajitas and nachos are on another level! Every chip for the nachos has toppings on it so there arent any bare chips like you usually get at restaurants. The chicken you can add on top is perfectly seasoned. I would honestly say they are the best nachos Ive ever had. I also tried the chicken fajitas and really enjoyed the presentation of them. All of the toppings for them (cheese, lettuce and pico) come on the side in their own little cups which I really appreciated. The chicken for the fajitas was also done really well and not greasy like a lot of other places. I also tried the churros and really liked the sauce they gave you to dip them in. The bar staff is very attentive and there is a really nice vibe to the place in general. I will definitely be back!

The drinks are pretty good. The guacamole taste great. But!.... the portions for the food are so teeny! I was thoroughly disappointed. The tacos were soooo small and the meals dont come with sides so you have to buy the sides separately at like $4 a piece! Most Mexican restaurants include rice and beans or a vegetable with your food and they did not. The tacos are the length of your middle finger! The enchiladas are small, the rice was not done, the only nice sized plate of food was the burger and fries. But who wants to just get burger and fries at a Mexican restaurant? I wanted to love this place so much because I love Mexican food, but after paying $20 just for myself and leaving hungry; there just wasnt enough room in my heart to love it...

Great food - guacs were very good and wings were OK. Fajitas were very good, despite other people complaining that they werent sizzling (which by the way is a restaurant gimmick). Others had the shrimp and salmon tacos and had rave reviews. The sweet cornbread side was literally amazing. Try the mexican mule! Full disclosure.. other negative reviews seem to be expecting old family style mexian fare, with enormous portions, cheese and mole to compensate for lack of everything else. While i do thoroughly enjoy that from time to tome, this isnt that.. but its very, very good.

Probably the best Mexican Ive had in Delaware. Prices are comparable to Border Cafe but food is better and Im a fan of Border. The staff is very attentive to the customers and a manager has always made time to stop by the table to ensure everything was to our liking. They have a variety of guacamole that are all excellent but the one with crab mixed in is my favorite. The Taco sampler is excellent but value for quantity would be the bento box which is only available on their lunch menu. Overall Id say these guys have hit a home run!!!! Dont pass up the opportunity to eat here.
