I was eager to try Shu, after having read the reviews. I enjoy every type of food, from all over the world, but Shu was a waste of time and money. We had the tingling chicken. It was in a green sauce with an herbal taste, similar to mint. Odd, and not enjoyable. We had the crispy shredded beef, which consisted of barely perceptible slender strings of beef in a ton of breading, fried. The dish couldnt have had even an ounce of meat in it. High calorie garbage. Also had scallion pancakes - not much scallion, mostly fried thin flour pancakes. Again, cheap starch. After that, chicken with Hoisin sauce - a ton of oil - literally in a clear lake of oil. Hoisin sauce was weak, barely perceptible. Lastly, beef in coconut. Again, tons of breading, also fried, and fried shredded coconut. The meal wasnt helped by the fact that midway through it, our water acquired a very strange taste - I think that the pitcher had soap in it. We had to ask for fresh water glasses and fresh water. And believe me, we had been very pleasant to the waitpeople, and had not made any complaints. What we ordered, plus a 15% tip, came to $75. Expensive for what we had, and what we had wasnt very good. Dont believe the hype. This place is not worth a visit. A waste of time, money, and calories.

We love this place, best Sichuan restaurant in area. Great food every dish was very good. Nice sit down type with clean rooms and restrooms. Edited 7/11/2016 We just took friends from Sichuan here and they really loved the place. They wanted home food after a few days in the USA and found this place to be very good. We re-tried some of our favorites and got a few new dishes and I felt the food was even a little bit better than before. I felt their slightly spicy green chili peppers were wonderful, almost like Korean twist peppers. The dishes were extremely good.

Hands down the very best Chinese food you will find in Connecticut. It is actually better than most restaurants I have been to in NYC. Totally authentic and totally delicious. We have never been disappointed in a dish here and we have been here a lot. My favorite is the tomato egg soup. The taste of the broth, omg, so good. This is not the place to go if you are looking for egg foo young or general tsos chicken. But if you want real cooking I highly recommend this restaurant!

The only authentic Chinese cuisine in the area, maybe the state. The food is representative of the Szechuan region. Come with an open mind and do not expect egg rolls, fortune cookies, General Tsos, or any other Americanized Chinese food. The smell and taste compares with what Ive experienced in China and is delicious. Ive been to Shu many times and off hand can not think of a dish I didnt like there.

Went to dinner tonight with my fiancé and had a wonderful experience. We enjoyed hot and sour soup, Shu hot and spicy potato, Chengdu dumplings, Mongolian Beef and chicken love mien. This was the best Chinese Szechuan cuisine weve ever eaten. Great service, very clean inside, and well priced. Thank you for the great experience. Highly recommend, well worth the drive out of the city

Authentic dishes with fantastic flavor. Shu offers a diverse selection of real Sichuan cuisine unlike any other in the area. Have yet to try a dish here that I truly disliked. The only downsides are that they are quite expensive and the service, while usually good, can be inconsistent and rushed at times. Overall I would recommend Shu, especially their dan dan mein!

Authentic Chinese restaurant with really spicy foods. If an entree is marked spicy, its spicy! We ordered a variety of entrees but I had the vegetable Lo Mein. Great portion size and taste for $9. Staff are very friendly. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza with other Asian businesses including a grocery store and Vietnamese restaurant.

Great Chengdu Experience. The menu is off the chart. The chefs are from Chengdu so you can expect a great foodie experience. The service was exceptional. The dining room was very clean. Prices are very good. Once you have had this style of food, the knock-off Chinese-American stops are no more.

Had a Chinese exchange student from Beijing. We have been searching for authentic Chinese food since she came to the US. Even went to a place in China town in NYC. This is the only place she finally said YES this is Chinese food! Very nice food great atmosphere and prices are very reasonable!

We ordered a soup to share and a couple of appetizers. The wontons were quite spicy, but extremely flavorful and delicious. They mix the food and serve it to you as well, which is nice. Staff was excellent and prices were amazing. Probably the best Chinese food weve ever tasted.

Most authentic food ever! Their service is so nice, and they go out of the way to adjust the dishes to your liking. Very tasty fish and shrimp dishes! It is very convenient to shop at A-Dong Supermarket and then go to this restaurant to eat.

This is the best, most authentic, Chinese restaurant in Hartford County. I have been to China multiple times and when I say this place is authentic... I mean this place is authentic. Great, extensive menu. This is real food. Highly recommended.

Love this place, have been coming here since 2 and half years. Very traditional Chinese food, the Dan Dan mein, Qong Qing chicken, Yibin pickled fried rice and even kung pao tastes good. Just love this place

还是不错的,可以吃到比较地道的川味,虽然味道距离国内还有些距离,还是点赞的。

I just held my husbands surprise birthday here and the staff did an excellent job helping to prepare the menu and provide excellent service. The string beans and cuttlefish are my favorites.

Truly authentic Schechuanese cuisine! Owner is a cooking school teacher from Chengdu. Ask for specialties! Service could be a little more enthusiastic but at least they are very efficient.

My favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is real Chinese food! The service is friendly and hospitable. Worth to mention, they are always very busy during weekend. So reservation is better.

Excellent appetizers. Great entrees. I had the pickled pork belly and the sautéed egg plant. Eggplant was flavorful and tender. One star out for grumpy waitress.

Way better than some of those fancy Chinese restaurants in NYC. It tastes like real Chinese Sichuan food, nothing like American-chinese Frankenstein.

Food may be good, but the service attitude is beyond bad. If they are continuing to be like this, then theyd be out of businesses soon.

The peppercorn was just way too much for me. However, if you are a hardcore authentic taste kinda person, this cuisine is for you.

As authentic as Chinese cuisine will get most anywhere in the US. Clean and nice atmosphere. Great service. Very good.
