Really bad service from the very start. The hostess did not greet us, threw the menus down on the table, stood in the way so we could not sit down and when she finally walked away was loud and carousing with a server. The server had a condescending attitude toward us from the moment we sat down. I asked for non-dairy (milk) French toast and she said "no" with waiving hand gestures. I then asked if they had eggs to go with their non-dairy Challah bread and she said, The "chefs" cant do that. At that time we decided to leave. One of the owners followed us out and wanted to make us happy. I mentioned that we read their favorable NY Times review commending them for their farm to table approach and ability to accommodate dietary restrictions. He said they use pre-made batter for the French Toast and could not accommodate because of all of the orders in the queue and it would take too long to make the non-milk French Toast. I did mention that we have been to many places that could make French Toast without dairy. Sort of odd that a "farm to table restaurant" could not do this. Unfortunately, we didnt have an opportunity to evaluate the food for ourselves but based on the "service" we will never go back.

The seats are not comfortable. Really not. We liked coming here when it first opened. The last two experiences were not good and I doubt we will be back. A very important thing for me when I go out is the staff. The door person was chewing gum last night - and he is one of those people that does it with his mouth open. UGH. bad start. Then the waitress must have gotten the impression we were hard of hearing; she was literally yelling at us. And, we did not go to the restaurant to eat with her; she came over and tried to engage us so many times. Plus, and this may seem picky but if you go there you will know what I mean, when they first built the place out the builder had no clue what the height should be of the seat relative to the floor and the seat relative to the table. They spent some money trying to fix it several months after they opened but we got a table last night that was just not comfortable.

Blue Plate Kitchen was recommended to us by some friends so we figured we would try it. We found it to be a pretty decent place to grab breakfast on the weekends with our daughter. That was until we found out about one minor oversight on their menu that apparently the management doesnt feel the need to disclose to customers. They use bacon fat to fry their potatoes and other breakfast items. Kind of a big deal for those who dont eat meat or those with religious preferences that do not allow certain types of meat. When we brought this up to management, the response was almost comical. They said, "You can order vegetarian potatoes". How about mention that somewhere on the menu so customers have the option? Nope. They just assume everyone eats bacon. Sorry to say we will not be returning. Hopefully this review gets to management and they realize the severity of this oversight.

Came in for happy hour to get a snack and relax after the workday. The bar tender is sweet but very distracted with preparations for the evening which I understand. I ordered two sets of quesadillas and the Pico de Gallo(salsa) and Totrilla chips. The food is yummy but there are some discrepancies in orders. The first set of quesadillas came with three pieces and the second had two. The salsa portion was very small. I had a good number of chips left over after the meal. For the price I payed I think that this was a reasonable experience but would advice the kitchen to have a better portion ratio and to have consistency in their orders.

Love the breakfast and lunch here at Blue Plate. I have tried this restaurant a handful of times, and all times, I would give the food two thumbs up! Since opening, the service has improved and the food keeps getting better - very consistent and very delicious! Having a sit-down, diner-feel restaurant that serves breakfast in an area where another restaurant of this like is not available is a huge plus! The location is absolutely perfect and I have hardly walked out having a terrible experience. Great owners, great food, and great atmosphere. I highly recommend giving Blue Plate Kitchen a few tries!

This is the second time Ive visited the Blue Plate Kitchen in about two months. The first time was brunch on a weekday. The second time was breakfast (8:30am) on a Sat. The food is always good, but the service has been terrible both times. For brunch, we were immediately seated but it took an hour for us to get latkes and eggs. This morning We were only given menus after waiting for ten minutes at our table, my coffee and water glass were never refilled, and I had no spoon with which to stir my coffee. I will not be returning. Very frustrating.

DONT MISS BREAKFAST AND HAPPY HOUR Breakfast on the weekend is busy and yes... sometimes there is a wait and for a good reason. Iti s to die for. Omelettes with great ingredients and delicious french toast. My friend had potato pancakes which were excellent. I recently stopped in for Happy Hour and was amazed at the 3$ Sliders that were offered along with great deals on crafted beers and wines. Best Happy Hour Value around. It great to have real food at Bishops Corner which is overwhelmingly chain restaurants. Glad this is in my neighborhood!

Its always nice when you go to place and you are treated so well that you are compelled to share your experience. This is one of those places where this happens. Every item on their robust menu is what you want to have and you feel you want to try them all. Usually Ill take an entrée home for a late night snack. The staff are dedicated to making your experience fun and pleasant. Try Blue Plate Kitchen and youll see Im not wrong.

Food is always fresh here. You can find a variety a food here, from the traditional to the slightly eclectic, with varying levels of success. This tends to be a little bit more hearty or comfort food from our experience. We find the meat dishes to always be pretty good. Prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly the restaurant is very clean. They also offer a pretty good breakfast, with a decent selection and quick service.

On December 28th 2015, I heard so much about this place. I was extremely disappointed. apparently they are not used to being busy and were unable to take the pressure like a breakfast place in West Hartford. Food was about as good as the unorganized kitchen and attitude staff. I will take my money elsewhere waste of my time. not to mention it took me approximately an hour to eat bad eggs ..
