Given the cost, I wasnt impressed. Food was very hit or miss. We ordered the Asian calimari appetizer which was very different and very good (as well as being enormous). Chowder was different from what I am normally used to, a little bit on the thin side but tasty. The real let down came with entrees, my entree, Ahi Tuna was cool, clearly it has been sitting for a while though it was tasty. I had asparagus risotto which clearly had asparagus tossed in as an afterthought. My wifes shrimp pasta dish was just plain bad. It featured shrimp which had been boiled and tossed with a tasteless pesto (I didnt think it was possible to make tasteless pesto, but now I know) Just plain lousy. We probably should have sent it back, but we both were tired and didnt want to hassle with it. I will say wait staff was polite and attentive. Pleasant interior decor and ambience. Overall dont recommend. Price didnt justify the food quality.

We recently went to one of the Inn restaurants in Old Lyme [there is Bee and Thistle, and Old Lyme Inn]. I had lasagna, my wife had salmon. I had 2 beers she had 2 wines. We split a dessert. The bill was $160. Tip was $25 [just over 15%] total: $185. The salmon was great, but the lasagna was terrible [I know, should have gone to Luigis in Saybrook for that]. The point is, you can get better than good or less than good meals almost anywhere. We have had mostly good meals at Otter Cover, and hard to beat the OC tue wed thurs $40 meal for 2 special that includes a bottle of wine and soup or salad with the entrée. Good food and you dont feel ripped off. The OC special for 2 = good food + good value.

Our party of four were very pleased with our dinners and service at Otter Cove. The interior is welcoming and not too loud ( we had made reservations for 6 pm and were seated quite a distance from the busy bar area). The waitress was pleasant and there were many specials listed- decent beer and wine options. Apparently there is a shortage of lobsters currently and my wife had to make a second choice. I had a huge mound of perfect whole belly clams. One of our guests exclaimed three times about how delicious her dinner was. Desert and coffee were also excellent. We never once felt rushed and enjoyed the evening.

We went in on Saturday night (8/2/14). Had calamari and seafood stew. Was good except an hour my wife later was violently ill. We narrowed it down to bad mussels which cause the food poisoning. 3 days later still sick I understand that you can get sick from bad seafood. However what disturbed me the most was when she called the manager to discuss it he flippantly said, "What do you expect me to do about it." Also told her that "Food poison takes 24 hours to happen"

Inexperienced wait staff. Poor management. For starters you need to ask for bread,because wait staff is not to offer it. Menu not clear when offering smaller portions. For example, Lisa rigatoni is meatballs and sausage.with the smaller portion we did not receive both, but we were told that thats the way it is with smaller portion . Spoke with management and was not accommodating and just said "sorry." Unacceptable! Would never go back !

A little bit out of the way, but worth the trip. We got there about an hour before close so I cant exactly speak for the vibe, but would imagine theres a pretty good energy about the place when things are hopping. We didnt have dinner but rather just a few apps:. Tuna Nachos, Firecracker Calamari, & OC Wings. All very tasty and did they go fast! If the apps are an indication of how the plates are, we cant wait to return!

We went there with a family of 10 and had a great meal and a very pleasant experience. We felt like one of the reasons that made this place so great was that it wasnt overcrowded like every other place in Westbrook, Saybrook, etc. Everyone had great food despite ordering across the gamut. Im writing this review (my first) to make sure this place remains in case we ever come back.

PERFECT! We rented the private room upstairs for a small reception and the staff could not have been more accomodating! The food was exceptional, the servers were attentive and polite, and the restaurant was modern and clean. We were thrilled and our guests raved about the food. You will not be dissapointed!! Salmon was so good!

Great staff, and the prices were satisfactory however the food was horrible. How do you screw up French fries well they manged too. Lobster roll was just terrible. My kids chicken fingers were so dried out they couldnt even eat them. Claim chowder was okay. Tuna tacos not great. Its really a shame the staff was really great.

Do not ever come here. Horrible wait staff and poor food. Go anywhere else. Very long wait and food took +1 hour for very normal order. Wait staff disappeared and near helped out. Really go anywhere else.

Great place to eat besides having to ask for bread. Burger is huge about a half a pound. Lobster roll was good but a little light on the lobster. Linguine with claims was amazing!
