This place was recommended by my buddy. I owe him a slap. Restaurant is in an old mill which was cool. Nice rustic look. My girlfriend and I ate there last night (8/26/14). Bar area looks ok... may be fun in winter because they have a giant fireplace with couches. The dining room is upstairs. We sat downstairs in the bar area. I had lobster bisque soup, mussels, and the beef pot pie. My gf had shrimp scampi. The scampi came with a salad. They literally quarter a head of iceberg lettuce and put it on a plate. They cover the single giant chunk of lettuce with ranch dressing and serve it with some chopped up tomatoes and croutons. WTF??? This is wrong on so many levels. Only Ranch? You cant even cut the salad up? I wish I had a picture to post just go for a beer and order the salad... hysterical... then find someplace else to eat. Lobster bisque was ok, but not over 8 bucks ok. A couple chunks of lobster. Shrimp scampi was ok. Mussels were good! Pot pie looked good, but taste was nothing special. The beef was tough and bland. Service was average. Someone else here nailed it when they said 3 star food at 5 star prices. If this stuff cost half of what they charged it would be a fair deal. I wish I had my 70 bucks back. Wont eat here again. By the way, the "waterfall" was a municipal storm drain that discharged next to a dam which allowed the water to cascade (a generous description) down about 6 feet of rock. Maybe my buddy needs two slaps.

I have to say I have been to this restaurant since it was the Chart House 30 yrs ago.. Thankfully they stopped the ala carte menu, everything cost extra. I got better when it became the Brush mill. , I like either a petite fillet or a NY strip, both cooked on a wood fired grill. The prior owners broke apart and suddenly the service went bad. To go on a night when its empty and we are obviously done and left to wait in an empty dining room is irritating and a bit eerie. Maybe the ghosts of men and children who worked in this factory remain still. Dining is on a second floor sadly with no handicap access. The only way up is an old set of steep steps You can eat off a bar menu in the lounge but I like a comfortable table and chairs. Dinners begin with an iceberg quarter, chipped delicious tomatoes and a house dressing thats delicious and your only choice. Dinners also came with a choice of starch and a side vegetable. The bread is homemade and if its a special occasion you might get sung to and get a free dessert, their signature mud pie. It is less than 5 minutes from my house but the bad service just kept repeating. I give 5 stars for the food, the service 2. A nice place for a special event or to cozy up in front of the fire in comfy couches and chairs and enjoy good company. A lovely covered bridge with a waterfall leads you in to this historical building. I hope theyve straightened out their service.

What a horrible place. It sounded really nice. We decided to make reservations for a very special birthday dinner. When we got there the waterfall was dry: an unfortunate result of the summer heat I suppose. The staff didnt have a table ready for us when we arrived even though we made the reservation well ahead of time and arrived exactly when planned. We had to wait for them to prepare a table. Thats certainly not how dinner reservations are supposed to work. Also, the bathroom was absolutely disgusting. It was the kind of setup I would expect at a truck stop, not a "nice" restaurant. When we were finally seated, our view was overlooking three or four drunk men wearing dirty Tshirts, seated outside, smoking cigarettes and being loud and crass. I expected a waterfall view. The atmosphere was worse than I could have imagined. When I finally got a look at the menu, the prices really surprised me. The food is radically expensive. Both my date and I tried to order the prime rib (which is apparently the signature dish here) only to be informed that the kitchen had none. At this point, I handed the waitress my menu and asked for the check for our drinks and appetizer. This restaurant should have closed years ago. You can honestly get a better dining experience at mcdonalds.

My meal came out luke warm at best. Our waitress was apologetic and offered to have the chef warm my meal. I ordered a steak, so warming it would have it cooked more than I desired. If my meal had come to the table hot, it would have been cooked perfectly. This was a second chance for the Brushmill and they failed miserably. The last time we were here it was just as bad. They attempted to cook my steak twice, both times I sent it back. My parents ordered the prime rib and it was very clear that the prime rib was not cooked today and it was served without au jus. For the cost of these meals they should be perfect. Every time. So this evening the Brushmill left me with a half eaten meals that cost me over $150 Very disappointing. The food quality at this restaurant has declined with each visit as for the past 10+ years weve been coming after seeing a show at the Goodspeed (3 times per year). Save your money.

3 star food with 5 star prices. Tried to have a small wedding reception and my guests were greeted by an old man with a coctail in hand asking: "who is paying for this" even though we planned this months ahead of time. In the middle of dinner a lady came in to the room and wanted to know who was paying, very, very unprofessional. Its really great to eat with a waterfall soundtrack and the waitstaff was attendant and professional. No beers on tap and all the protien was overcooked. Veggies were perfect but the soups were so concentrated and overseasoned that I stopped eating it. Good canidate for Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmares. Outdated menu, no value for money, management outdated, building and setting beautiful.

Dinner of swordfish was very dry as was everthing else on the plate. Clam casino had a small unpurged clam with what looked like baby pablem mush on it over soaked in butter. Garden and fruit salad was good. Service was overly slow, but we ate outside overlooking the waterfall by ourselves. D+ food with B+ prices. Next time well go to Pattaconk down the road.

My new favorite restaurant. Service exceptional, food absolutely fabulous, cocktails not cheap on the liquor! You walk in the door and you can smell the wonderful age to the mill. I would highly recommend this restaurant. 3.6 stars, is not a fair rating for this wonderful dining establishment!

Terrible customer service. I ordered a gift card 2 weeks ago and still have not received it. They charged me an extra $6 because they "only send it certified since a lot of people werent receiving them". Hmmm... I also didnt get it in time for the party. I will never call them again!!!

Have always had a good meal except this last visit, my sons strip steak was awful the rest of our meals 3 others were ok. It does happen to have the best ranch dressing wedge salad I have had. The restraunt is an old chart House that is stuck squarely in 1979.
