I like Toro a lot. I have been here about 10 times and have enjoyed ever single meal except one. The service is usually pretty good, and the food is great. If youre a chinese food fan, the General Tsos is crunchy, garlicy, and has a great sauce. The Chow Fen noodles are also amazing, I recommend the Shrimp Chow Fen especially. The sushi is also very good, but can make a normal night out extremely pricey. The Negimaki, Shumai, and Gyoza appetizers are also amazing. I would definitely give this place a chance if you havent been yet. It has a good balance of "American Chinese" and authentic Japanese and Chinese dishes, and the selection is enough to make every picky eater happy :)

Its been great to have Toro as a convenient option in Newtown. The food has been consistently very good. We have never had a dish we didnt like, whether its chicken, beef or pork. The Pad Thai is great too. Were not big sushi fans so I cant comment there. If I had to find one thing to change, it would be the portions. They are enough for dinner, but it would be nice to have more to take home (Im sure Le Cirque would frown upon such behavior, but lets face it, its generally a good investment from the restaurants perspective, especially in these times).

Dont really understand why everyone is crowing about this place. Its average...like all the other restaurants around here. Best sushi on the east coast? Are you insane? The sushi is okay, but certainly not the best anywhere. If you want the same average Chinese then this is the place. Then again, there really arent any GREAT Chinese restaurants in Newtown. You want GREAT, go to New Haven.

Just freaking delicious, whether your eating in or getting to go or even ddlivery. No complaints. Always so great ...the hibachi is fabulous but me personally like to eat while its cooked there in front of you doesnt seem to be the same when you pick up or get delivery but much healthier restaurant to vs your type place. Worth the money. Yummy yummmy.

Geat restaurant with many different foods to try. The steamed pork dumplings are the best appetizer to get. The filet mignon stir fry is the way to go for entrees. If youre looking for sushi, the Spanish Mackerel is the tastiest fish on the menu. Also, if youre looking for a roll, then the Sandy Hook Roll is the best choice.

We have always enjoyed going to Toro Restaurant. Whether its a mixed dish, grilled fish, sushi or some other delightful dish it is always a pleasure. However today I had their tempura and I was not impressed. On the whole it is a good experience

A little pricey, but really great food. If youre looking for higher quality Chinese/Japanese cuisine Toro should be on your map. My favorite thing to do here is go in at lunch time and get sushi. Its much cheaper and just as good quality.

Love this place. Formal dining on the main level and Hibachi on the second. Hardly can tell there is a second floor. Upstairs is a side room as well for small parties. Service and food are great. Family favorite of Asian hands down.

The most rude business owners i have ever dealt with! The food is tasteless and extremely expensive. the floor was filthy when i ate their, and they were rude to my pregnant wife! So many other better places in the area!

We had a good experience. The sushi was fair however my husbands general tsos chicken was heavily battered and a little too slimy with whole pieces of peppers. It was very clean and the service was great- very nice people.

Toro is a great dining experience if you decide on Japanese/Chinese cuisine in smaller sittings. Want a great group experience. Excellent Hibachi table style dining upstairs. Fun as an intimate date or with kids/friends.

Expensive, Always consistently packed, always consistently good food. Staff frankly leaves plenty to be desired. Upstairs family friendly hibachi generally worth the time and money if neither are that important to you.

Premium food at a low cost. We stayed well past closing and the host gave us some free drinks and wished us on our way. I am a huge fan. Its hard to find this level of quality food and service for the price!!!

Good atmosphere. Had the ichiban roll, rainbow roll, and another roll I couldnt remember. Went here on a first date. Definitely a good spot to bring a date. They serve both Japanese and Chinese cuisine.

The best sushi in the Trumbull/Monroe/Newtown area. Steps above the others. Super clean restaurant, friendly waitstaff. They have a big menu, but Id stick to the sushi (and the spring rolls).

The worst Chinese food in the area. The people are rude, the place is dirty, and they are extremely over priced!! STAY FAR AWAY!!

The food came quickly and was tasty with large portions, BUT overuse of MSG made the experience unpleasant. Service is fine.

Love it. Good service, good food. Sometimes a little crowded and a wait of 30 minutes is to be had, but overall worth it.

I stared at the menu for 10 minutes before I found something I could order. Pricey for a place with no view
