I would recomment this place to ALL of my friends. Seriously, I had a wonderful experience, 2x so far, and I see the previous reviewer had their experience on the same month as my husband and I did, and they did nothing but complain. Cant make everyone happy, I guess, and the staff situation may have been different for them... On both visits, we were seated quickly, and had almost no wait time for our waitress to come to our table. She greeted us, made good eye contact, was very friendly and courteous, and helpful throughout as we asked her what she preferred off the menu. I picked the Chicken Adams, my husband picked the bacon wrapped filet mignon. The chicken adams was good, but I really wished Id had the filet mignon, after having a sample bite. Absolutely delicious. We were impressed enough with the first visit that we came back a second time, for my husbands birthday, and tried the birthday meal - and read the rules about the deal on-site. Nothing was hidden, it was there in the print. Buy an appetizer, and one plate for a guest. If you dine solo, I can see how this would grate on your nerves, but the staff was very understanding, and went out of their way to explain everything to us when we asked. We never assumed anything about their prices. Even on the refills of the soft drinks - if it doesnt say "free refills" we dont assume that refills are free, period. That said, the desert was to die for, and the overall experience prompted us to look into this place for our wedding reception and rehearsal dinner, which are coming up at the end of this week. We didnt read any of these reviews before going to the restaurant, and we asked just a few friends who live local to the restaurant for their opinion on The Adams Mill before giving it a shot - I think The Knot rating it so highly comes with good reason, and I have been given no reason not to think that these people would work well with us for our reception needs. The general rule of thumb is: Dont assume. Ask questions. Smile. These people have a great reputation, and dont want it smirched - and will respond courteously to every question asked, or will find someone more knowledgeable on the subject if the person being asked doesnt know what to answer with. Ill be back later with a review of the rehearsal dinner and reception.

My wife ate at this restaurant with her friend on Friday April 15 2016. She ordered Baked Stuffed Shrimp. By Saturday April 16, 2016 she was complaining of a stomach ache. On Monday April 18, 2016 she complained of excruciating abdominal pain. I brought her to Hartford Hospital Emergency Department. She was admitted to Hartford Hospital that night. She was diagnosed with food poisoning. Eight different Medial Doctors met with her at different times. They all stated that there was no doubt that she contracted food poisoning from the baked stuffed shrimp that the ate at the Adams Mill restaurant. They stated that the shrimp was contaminated with bacteria or a virus. They stated that food poisoning can cause severe difficulty because the bacteria or virus can become lodged in the small intestine. They stated that this can cause death. Medical tests at Hartford Hospital confirmed the initial diagnosis of food poisoning. She was hospitalized from April 18, 2016 to May 1, 2017. She was in excruciating pain and given powerful pain medication. She suffered for two days after stopping the opiate pain medications . She was hospitalized again from May 7, 2016 to May14, 2016 at Saint Francis Hospital because of complications from an Endoscopy at Hartford Hospital. The total bills that I owe the hospitals total $38,000. My daughter and I watched her suffer every night at Hartford Hospital. I have never written a review about any business. I have not contacted Adams Mill about this incident. I will be meeting with Adams Mill management in person soon. I wanted everyone to be aware of this incident before they eat any food from Adams Mill.

Reviews of businesses are incredibly important and, hopefully, useful to anyone looking to visit an establishment or utilize a service that is needed. A review was written of our restaurant recently that I should have responded to sooner but held off in hopes that the person who wrote the review would contact us. This review was the one who claimed his wife had gotten food poisoning. Those that work in the food service business know that any time a customer has gotten food poisoning the health department immediately steps in. We have not heard from the health department, nor this customer, since the apparent occasion. It leaves us baffled as to why someone would post a review that serious and not contact us if this was as serious as he posted. We are not in the business to disappoint guests and its incredibly devastating to wonder if you have made someone ill. This person has not contacted us and with a supposedly, $38,000 hospital bill I cant imagine why he hasnt. This review was posted one year after the apparent situation. Please be careful when reading or posting reviews. Many businesses rely on reviews of their customers for not only compliments, but also for improvements.

We just had an engagement party for my son and his fiance this past weekend at Adams Mill. The food was great and the service was wonderful. We were in the alcove, not the party room or banquet room and got a bit loud and rambunctious at times, but were allowed to enjoy ourselves! The guest all enjoyed themselves and my son and his fiance were overwhelmed with joy. The bill was divided between my ex-husband and myself. They were happy to accommodate us and provided the division (it wasnt equal--he paid for the self-service wine station) and even added the suggested gratuity so I didnt have to figure anything out after a long night. Personally, I had the salmon and it was delicious. The cheese and veggie appetizer was full of wonderful varieties of cheeses and plenty of fresh veggies. The dessert was amazing! PS there is a trail head for the Hockanum River Trail system just to the left of the building. Go early, take a little walk, then have dinner. My son and fiance had a photo shoot there!

Been here twice for funeral receptions. Ok place. Hate the off brand cola products - cheap brands automatically loses 1 star. Owner was rude about adding another table for larger party. We were denied a 60+ guest for Friday. Guest asked for a virgin fruit daiquiri, bartender refused because "it takes to long to make". Place seemed very strict about having shots at the tables. Owner and staff yelled at guest attempting to make 2 lines at the buffet table. They only wanted one line, so much for time productivity. As for the food, ceasar dressing was terrible, the pasta was awesome, the patato scallops were great. They had some kind of Chicken and rice platter, the chicken was ok and not enough rice. Overall, not a place i would goto again unless forced to by a family members party location.

We used to like this place. We went there a few hours ago, went upstairs and stopped one of the kids setting up and asked if we should just take a seat. He told us to go downstairs and wait to be seated. We went downstairs. After an eternity the other kid said that we could just go upstairs and be seated. So, we did. We sat there, the kid who told us to go away passed us 2 or 3 times and a team of 5 stood at the computer behind my wife doing everything but notice us. We sat there for a full 15 minutes before leaving, taking our lives in our hands on their sheet-of-ice parking lot. Bottom line? Nobody over 15 works there anymore and they couldnt care less about customers. They actually avert their eyes when customers try to be noticed.
