DO NOT GO. My wife and I go to vail every year for our anniversary, and every year we eat dinner at The Mountain Standard. This year, we had the unexpected gift of food poisoning from The Mountain Standard and spent our anniversary vomiting into the toilet of our hotel room. We had to return to Denver the following morning so I sent an email to Mike Padrick, the dining room manager to warn him that they are serving food that is making people sick and that they had ruined our anniversary. No response, so I sent an email to the kitchen manager, no response, but then the next day Mike responded. His response was that next time we were in Vail we should stop by for a drink and app on him for the "inconvenience". We spent $200 on a dinner that made us sick and he wanted us to come back by for a drink? I have never heard of a restaurant treating its customers so badly and it seems like nobody there cares. I dont think this review will have an effect on the establishment or Mike, but at least I can let all those on Yelp to skip this place, go to La Tour, Ive never been sick eating there.

Had a DELICIOUS dinner here. The octopus appetizer was yummy. It came with garnishes that provided a nice balance to the sauce. I had never had lamb before and our waitress convinced me to try it. She even assured me that if I didnt like it, they would help get me something I would like. It was PHENOMENAL. It was cooked perfectly, had nice seasoning and had a great side of sweet peppers. The Rocky Mountain trout had a delicious sauce and was complimented by the mushrooms and dried veggies. Overall the service was great and all the dishes I tasted were delicious. My group got to sit in the outdoor section which had a nice view of the creek. I would definitely return to try other things.

After making a reservation 2 days in advance since the place is packed, got a table near the door. Very noisy, bar seems to be very busy. Ordered the pork shank. Very small portion arrived at my table and it was room temp. The fascia (white film between the muscle layers) was cold. Serving dish was cold. Sent it back after having to wave down waitress. They did warm it up. Donovan, the manager did come over to express his concern. HOWEVER, the man in the adjoining table had the identical experience and had to have his returned. Dont know who was manning the pass, but they didnt have a clue how to serve hot food in warmed plates. For the $100, it wasnt worth it

This was, hands down, the best dinner weve had in CO to date. We showed up without a reservation, and seated ourselves at the bar - luckily there were 2 open seats. The bartender, Keith, suggested a few different beers from the menu - we ended up going with the saison. He was also super knowledgeable in the food menu. We ended up getting the grilled octopus with black eyes peas. It was delicious!! Keith had also recommended the pork shank for an entrée. My boyfriend got the pork shank, I got the trout - neither of us were disappointed. Overall great experience, great ambiance, and knowledgeable, attentive staff.

I recently visited Mountain Standard while on vacation in Vail and it was DELICIOUS! The location is so convinient as it is right in Vail Village and it is gorgeous. The Gore Creek flows by right outside and we enjoyed our food on the patio with the beautiful scenery beside us. As great as the service and decor were, the food was even better! I had the pork chop and it was literally the most delicious thing I have ever eaten. It was SOOO tender and juicy and cooked to perfection. It was perfectly seasoned and the sides of corn and okra were delicious too! I will definitely be returning next time Im in town.

Mountain standard has always been a place in which my spouse and I thoroughly enjoy eating. Now this review has nothing to do with their food or in house service even. Earlier today I made a phone call to inquire more information regarding a few things at Mountain standard. After asking my questions, instead of politely asking me to hold while the hostess investigated the answer, I was hung up on. I called back multiple times after, and no answer. To clarify, their food is absolutely amazing, but if you dont enjoy the job you have, please dont make other peoples lives miserable.

Wonderful cool place in Vail. I sat at the Bar!! Bartender Chris Phillips... was the greatest guy... I ordered the shrimp and grits appetizer.. and had a couple of glasses of wine... he was not real busy with customers and he visited with me. I love the atmosphere here, It is not crazy loud and modern. My food was fabulous.. I wanted one piece of bread to sop up the rest left in the bowl... thats what this southern does.. you need to try this place. The first time I came here was two years ago.. and I had the turkey sandwich... which was very good.

What a great find. Sit next to the kitchen and watch them cook on an Argentine grill and rotisserie both fueled with oak. The smokey flavor is just perfect, not overbearing. Service was on point. Dont bypass the chicken. I never order chicken when dining out but our server convinced me I should. It was amazing. I had just eaten at a restaurant in NOLA where the chef won the James Beard best chef award for the SE. Our meal at Mountain Standard was just as good if not better. Awards will come their way soon if they havent already.

Good food, rude management, and poor service. I was blown away at how little effort management and our server put forth to accommodate our party. Our server rarely came back to the table and the manager made zero effort to improve what was easily my most unpleasant dining experience in vail. This restaurant rarely has repeat customers, so they are not concerned with ensuring a positive dining experience for their guests. In short, dont eat here.

We found this restaurant after multiple friends and family members recommended it. I must say they were onto something. When we got there (girlfriend and I) the place was full so we sat at the bar while a table was ready. Matt, at the bar was really nice and welcoming, we chose to have our meal there. The food was amazing and well presented. We had Matt on the drinks with the octopus and prime stake tartare, Alaskan Cod and hangar steak.

Had a fabulous lunch yesterday! We decided to share a bunch of appetizers because we just couldnt decide. Had the fried oysters, 3 little pigs, bruschetta and the pea and radish salad. EVERYTHING was outstanding. Kids had great meals as well - they love the homemade NA sodas. very creative and special. My only negative is that we ate so much we didnt save room for dessert - which I heard is great!

One of our favorite places to eat and drink in Vail. Its casual but has great decor, food, drinks, and service. There is a nice outdoor seating area, but we prefer sitting at the bar. They make a mean cocktail. Everything on the menu is delicious. Perfect for groups or for a casual date. Its often crowded, but never too much of a wait, especially if youre willing to grab a seat at the bar.
