A friend of mine and I just finished dining at this restaurant. We were excited for the opportunity to eat authentic malaysian food, however our visit was far from what we expected. We waited approximately 45 minutes for the appetizer and an hour for the entree with only one other table seated in the entire restaurant at 7:00 PM on a Sunday. We were a little worrisome because of the lack of patrons present on a Sunday night, but nevertheless we continued our dining experience. Upon approaching our table, the waitress (maybe 17 or 18 years old) immediately stated it was her first night on the job and thus we cut her a lot of slack, but apparently the owner did not. As we were awaiting our dinner, we witnessed the owner scold her new employee on several occasions in front of the two tables in the restaurant. The other patrons, my friend, and myself grew increasingly concerned for the new waitresses well being as the owner grew angrier and angrier with her performance. It was almost unbearable to watch, and ruined our entire dinner. I asked to speak with the owner about our concern as the young waitress looked almost trapped, and about to break down. When I asked the owner why this was happening to the waitress I was told "its none of your business" in a very loud, stern voice. I told her we were simply trying to enjoy our dinner and could not. This is when we screamed loudly that she would call the police. It was apparent she had no regard for her image in front of the other patrons, now approximately five tables seated. This was worrisome as she seemed extremely mentally unstable. We left, and never to return. I fear for new employees of this business.

Its rare I have to write a horrible review for a location, but the counter help is rude. I had to drop some paperwork off at four star realty next-door, but theyre closed on Sundays and I really had to use the restroom. I went in and asked politely to use the facilities and was told to buy something first before they would even let me go, even though I acknowledged I would purchase a coffee. My small black coffee was $3.25, and when asked why it was so expensive her rude reply was "thats how much we charge here." And then walked away. Fortunately there are much better businesses in the area that are worth supporting than this one. If youre going to overcharge the locals to pee, at least do it with a smile on your face.

Grocery and a place to eat together works well with us. The food is inexpensive and have amazing variety. Few things we tried were really awesome. Samosa, Chloe Batu, Ra Malia, Parathion. Its a good place for a quick snack and the best part is they have same meal price for lunch and dinner. Its an all day combo they serve. However we aint too sure of the hygiene. I once saw some fly in the sweet section.

waitstaffs are pleasant. We arrived an hour before closing time, ordering roti canai with curry, nasi lemak, curry puffs, laksa with prawns, satay beef and chicken. Food wasnt bad tasting, but unfortunately nothing to rave about either. Food was far from authentic unless you are not familiar with Asian (particularly singapore and Malaysian)cuisine.

Old South Pearl can be contrived, pricey and underwhelming. Not Makan! The food is affordable, delicious, beautifully presented, and wonderfully exotically flavorful. The surroundings are simple and perfect. The service is efficient and friendly. I LOVE THIS PLACE and will be back very soon. I want to try everything they make.

Dont go here if your hungry. Food was OK but not much flavor. Watered down white version of maylasian food lol. We ordered curry and beef stew. Beef was better. Order chkn satay as an appetizer 4 small pieces not worth the price. Overall it wasnt bad but I wouldnt come back.

Love the food, lived in Australia for years and the Asian food there was amazing. This is the closest weve got to it in Colorado. The flat noodles and laksa are wonderful. Everything freshly made, wish I lived in Denver and could eat here more often.

Deliciousness!! Nice modern hidden restaurant. Went with my boyfriend for lunch and we had the lamb murtabak! (Reminiscent of a meat filled French crepe.) Comes with two curry dipping sauces. So good, will definitely be coming back for it again!

Having lived in Malaysia for 6 years myself, I can say this cafe is as authentic as you can get. The decor, the food, the atmosphere and even the music screams "Malaysian hawker cafe", and I felt like I was teleported back to Penang.

Simple, elegant, divinely tasty Malaysian food made with love. Affordable too. Great spot for for a date or get-together with friends. Small enough place that it never gets too loud either, unlike so many places these days.

Food is always deliciously consistent, the coconut rice is the way to go! I would avoid the Nasi Lemak, unless youre really in the mood for a plate of sardines and peanuts. But the roti is amazing, as well as the Kari Ayam!

Friendly staff, decent food. Mine was great, others were slightly overcooked but relatively authentic spices. Im not sure theres a better Malay food option in the area. Very clean. Lots of options on the menu. Ill be back!

Overall, I had a great experience. I had the poriah appetizer which was tasty but a bit overpriced. I also had the Mee Siam dish which was great - a bit similar to pad Thai. I would come back again!

Denvers only Malaysian restaurant. If youre in the mood for asian cuisine and want to try something different come check it out. I recommend first timers try the roti and the beef rendang.

Really good food. The service is a little slow, but they just opened so that is understandable. We had a nice dinner. I recommend the Mee Siam, very tasty.

This is the most authentic Malaysian I have found since eating from a food cart on a plastic chair 3 blocks from bukit bintang. the laksa == WIN.

Their Beef Rendang is a joke, it taste like a Beef Stew instead. Try Jaya Asian Grill or Thai Satay for the authenticity of Beef Rendang

Great Malaysian experience. Try the Laksa and Curry Puffs. The Milk tea is great, we had it warm.
