My family and I decided to have a nice Valentines Day brunch, and while our food was great, and our server went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, one of the hostesses became so confrontational and volatile we almost left before our meal started. We called in 5 minutes before we arrived to see how long the wait was and we were told 20-25 minutes by the hostess. We walked in and when I went to put our name down on the list, I asked again how long it would be and the same hostess said it was now a 30-45 minute wait. I told her that I just called and spoke with her right before we walked in and asked if something had changed. She replied to me with "No, do you want to eat here or not?" and a dirty look. I said yes and she never asked for our name. 10 minutes later I went back to the hostess station and asked if she put us down and I find out she never even reserved a slot for us. I asked her to please put our name on the list, and asked her to please not be so rude to us. A manager approached us a few minutes later and apologized for this girls behavior, and made it sound like it was a reoccurring problem. I dont know why this person is still working there if her poor attitude is this bad. The worst part was even after we received an apology from management, the hostess continued to make long dirty looks at me from her station, when she walked past while we waited for our table, and even while I was eating my meal. It was very uncomfortable and I dont plan to return to GGG until they have a staff that understands customer service.

Our first and last visit to the cafe was disappointing to say the least. I would have given the cafe 2 stars for ambience, but after having to work our way through the maze of chairs to our table, it gets 1 star. We ordered the beet salad with blackened salmon, the Friday fish and chips, (I hope they dont serve it any other day of the week) and the carnitas taco. All dish with pathetic and far from gourmet. I guess the gourmet word for blackened is burnt. The only this that could have saved this meal was to scape of the burnt portion and ask for lemon which never came because our waitress forgot and spent her time folding napkins. The salad portion consisted of 4 beets and maybe a half cup of lettuce. A stretch of the term salad. The fish and chips had greasy stale fries, oily flavorless cabbage, (I guess this was the cold slaw), two pieces of what appeared to be fish but on further investigation was just a thick over fired crust with dried out fish skin on the inside. At the end of our "lunch" and when our "waitress" was finished folding the napkins and looked up at her tables, we finally got the opportunity to let our waitress know about the meal. She said shed take "a couple of bucks off". Real gourmet style I must say. The pork carnitas looked like ground up baby food in a corn shell. Thats all I can say about that. Other than it didnt resemble anything I have ever seen ordered that had the word carnitas in it. Shame of you...... 3 strikes..... your out!

I decided to order my daughters 1st birthday cake from here so I wrote a very detailed email with pictures, specifically asking if they had any input please let me know. I asked for a rose swirl design on the cake but when I picked it up (the day of my daughters birthday) the cake was incomplete, the rose design was only done on the sides and not fully on the top of the cake. Almost as if the baker got lazy and did not finish the design throughout only adding three rose swirls on top. The filling I asked for was vanilla buttercream and she decided to improvise her own idea with a strawberry filling. Though it was a hit and tasted great it is not what I asked for and a simple phone call to suggest such the idea would have been appreciated, what if my daughter has a strawberry allergy...? Because it was the day of my daughters birthday I accepted the cake with no complaints otherwise, I would have asked for it to be redone. I was very disappointed presentation wise because it was her 1st birthday and I wanted the cake to be to be perfect for my daughter and the pictures.

Short answer: It was fantastic - definitely get the Eggs Benedict for Sunday brunch. Long answer: When I first moved to Colorado Springs, I was disappointed in the lack of creative food options...until I stumbled upon this place. A friend I recently made took me here one Sunday morning, and ive been craving it every Sunday since. To all of those complaining about how small it is, thats a shame. Sometimes the best places take some effort to get to your table - which in this case, I didnt even find it difficult to maneuver through the chairs. One of the best food places in San Francisco only has seating for 5, and everyone else has to stand - but that never bothered anyone. As far as the staff goes: Not once have I been disappointed in the quality of service. With all of that being said, this is still one of my favorite places to dine in Colorado Springs. If you want simple food, go to a fast food or chain restaurant. This is culinary art at its finest - and its not even that expensive.

I had the Farmers Classic with a multi-grain pancake, bacon, hash browns, and easy over eggs. The food was a bit expensive, but well worth it. The hash browns were mixed with onions and the pancake had nuts and bananas on top. Everything was fresh and made with care. The waitress was very friendly and on top of keeping my coffee refilled. Garden of the Gods Gourmet puts a lot of thought in their food and it shows. I have made this my official Sunday breakfast stop. I cannot wait until I visit again to try more menu items. My fiance had the Mountain Man Hash and loved it. The portion was large and we ended up taking half home. The water served with breakfast could have been colder, but it was not room temperature. The atmosphere was quiet, laid back, bright, and well suited for the morning crowd. The decor is modern, unique, and fits the theme of the restaurant: homey, fresh, local. I also used them to cater my wedding last year. The customer service was great and the food was perfect.

Garden of the Gods Gourmet Cafe catered our informal, fun wedding celebration. We ordered the citrus smoked salmon and herb seared tender beef and it turned out perfectly! This was the start to a meal we created with friends’ and family’s help - many different salads, breads, and cheeses rounded out the meal. Delicious! We received so many compliments. The servers were on-time and friendly when dropping off the food and plates, and helpful making sure all the boxes were located where they needed to go. We also ordered three (affordable) cakes from their bakery. The taste testing is quite fun, and not easy! So many good flavors to choose from. We got the almond cake, the lemon poppyseed with lemon custard inside, and the mocha chocolate cake. They were beautiful. Everyone loved all the cakes!
