Aloha means hello and good bye and sadly Ill be doing the later. I was highly disappointed this time around. My first experience was pretty good. I tend to stay away from the BBQ and seafood plates because most places do that pretty well. Last time I went with the BBQ plate and was impressed with the flavors, portions. Good meats, rice, salad and the veggies were freshly blanched. To me its about the other things. The chicken katsu, the loco moco, spam musubi, etc. I chose the later 2 and was specific in my order to have my eggs over easy. My biggest complaint about Loco Moco is that the egg is fried or over hard. Simply put I like the mixture of gravy and yolk throughout my rice. Over hard like I didnt even tell them. The plate was hefty in the bag so Im thinking a good amount of rice (2 scoops usually does it). I was wrong, 2 scoops and a ton of cabbage, wilted and soggy, no crispness or flavor to them at all. Macaroni salad was very good though. I like quite a bit of gravy to go along with my expected 2 large scoops of rice. This was not the case My extra gravy request was not done. And the gravy was minimal at best and bland. The rice was good, not extremely hot and steamy, possibly undercooked a little. So now Im looking at 2 mistakes. Hopefully the beef patties were good. So goes this entire experience. It was more meat loaf than beef patty, the seasoning left a sweet note that I was not expecting. They looked more like the burger patties you get from elementary school lunches. Not that I mind those, they actually tasted alright from what I recall. I would have preferred those. So of the 6 ingredients on my plate, 1 was exceptional and the rest were failures. Spam musubi actually had a decent rice to meat to wrapper proportions, most places overload with rice. Good old spam, cant mess that 1 up too much. Pricing was normal. Pictures on the menu looked really good. Decent lunch crowd and decent reviews. Perhaps its my time spent on the Islands, perhaps its my time around Islanders or Oceansides density of good island food that spoils me. Not all Hawaiian food is the same, not all L&Ls are the same and when I speak in general about Island food I mean all kinds. Sadly like Mexican food farther from the border I think the Islander food does the same from Oceanside, it gets worse.

First of all this place is a rip off of Onos Hawaiian BBQ. I work across the street from the district and thats what they were called before they changed there name to Aloha BBQ. Hmm I wonder what happened? Since Im the party planner at work (which consist of 200 employees just at corp) Ive used Aloha BBQ a few times spending anywhere from $50 - $1000 each time. Theyve been decent for what they cost even though they dont deliver and they add cabbage to ever dish to make it look fuller, but today was the worst experience Ive ever had. Yesterday I ordered a "small" catering tray of teri chicken, bbq beef, and rice which the menu says serves 10 - 12. I had 20 people I had to feed for a pot luck so I choose the small trays thinking that would be enough. I pick it up today only to notice on the counter (which was facing the cashier) a small sticker that said "small catering tray feed 5 - 7." So I asked the cashier what that was about and she says "oh the person that took your order didnt mention that? Its a misprint...) Uh... no if the person who took my order mentioned that we wouldnt be having this conversation... Long story short the poor cashier got the manager who was hesitant to give me a discount even though i had to spend an extra $20 out of my pocket cause the person who took my order couldnt mention to me that the menu was misprinted. Mean while an older lady walks in with all this bling and an expensive purse (the owner/managers mom) and the manager goes to her to explain the situation. She doesnt even glance my way yet acknowledges my existence and walks to kitchen. How is that for costumer service. I have spent hundreds of dollars there, and has had to pick up my own catering for them to not even discount a $20 tray cause they f***ed up for something that cost them less than 5 bucks. Sorry Aloha BBQ you have lost my business forever.

What is a business What is a customer What is value Well im assuming a customer is seeking a service and when I go to out to eat I expect value Value encompasses everything from service price quantity and quality I have no clue what other yelpers are talking about but this is Big Anh here and you know I speak truth. Other yelpers complain about no flavor, theres even extra sauce for you to pour on, and its delicious katsu sauce although not as thick as other places. If anything, its too much flavor and might be to salty for other people. Portions - HUGE portions I cannot finish it in one sitting and Im a pretty big guy Pretty cheap under 10 dollars Quick Definitely comparable to going to Hmart and buying marinated meat to cook. Whats the catch. The reason why the meat is so marinated because its cheap quality. However I like the fact that the chicken was skinless. The short rib is the lowest quality but I think the marinade makes up for it. If you had cheap ribs before you know how it tastes, as well as the meat. The meat probably came from the chuck portions!

Today i waited 30 minutes for a to go order, as I could see they were busy. When I asked the cashier to check on my order, he finally informed me that it would be a lot longer. I told him I was on a lunch break and would need a refund so I could get back to work. He waved me over for a refund with no apology. As I got to the register, I told him he should inform the guests the wait could be up to an hour to get your meal and "is that OK?" His reply to me was "that should be obvious!" Now while it is obvious the place was busy, I have never waited 1 hour for a single to go meal. Please train your cashiers to be polite and aware that many lunch guests have a time limit for lunch so be proactive of informing long wait times. I left your restaurant feeling incompetent and hungry with no time to get a lunch from somewhere else.

Very horrible service. We came in 20 minutes before closing, they take our order, take our money and upon giving us our food tell us that we cant eat in the restaurant and ask us to take our 5 year old daughter and eat outside. (All chairs and tables are folded up) meanwhile others are sitting in the restaurant eating comfortably and havent been told anything. We asked why we were the only ones being asked to eat outside and they say because the customers were here before us (which was a lie).We asked for our money back and we were refunded with no apology, they took the food back and walked away. Im sure if we were of another race we wouldnt have been treated like that, we wouldve received the same respect everyone else in the restaurant received. We will never step foot back in there again.
