What a pleasant surprise :) I was planning a long weekend in Napa and wanted to break up the wine tastings with some olive oil sampling. I also didnt want to fatigue my taste buds by dining only at Michelin starred restaurants #firstworldproblems #foodieproblems. Long Meadow Ranch Winery & Farmstead offered just that! Its almost like an all-in-one stop in Napa. They serve VERY reasonably priced delicious food. A hearty big breakfast for 2 people (without alcoholic beverages) was just over $40 after tax. Cheddar Biscuits with Honey Butter- I can eat this all day. I might like them more than Red Lobster Biscuits and thats saying a lot. Just to clarify, Im not a fan of Red Lobster, but I will go just for their biscuits :P Pulled pork sandwiches - Delicious smokey flavored juicy pork. The potato salad is really good too. Mac and Cheese - SUPER cheesy! Very rich and thick homestyle mac and cheese. Smoked trout rillette with espelette pepper creme fraiche - This was my favorite. The trout was surprisingly light unlike my previous experiences with smoked trout. I had asked if I could do my wine tastings while dining but they can do pours in their tasting room. They gave us a chip for BOGO free tasting which includes trying 2 of their olive oils. The tastings consist of 5 wines as well. I also noticed a jar of goats milk caramel sauce they were selling and the lady working there actually bought a jar herself just so I could sample it. WOW! I immediately bought a jar after that! The wines there were decent but it was the first stop on a 3 day excursion so I held off for now. TIP- check in for free biscuits although theyre only about $3 for 5 of them so we just paid :P TIP 2- If you dine at Farmstead, they give you a BOGO free wine tasting chip to use in their tasting room. TIP 3- check for their farmers market dates and times :)

Delicious, hearthy, fresh food! My top recommendation is the meatballs with root vegetables and tomato marmalade. It comes with 3 meatballs (kind of weird number since its hard to split), and theyre some of the most amazing meatballs Ive ever had. The root vegetables add aromatics to the dish and the tomato marmalade glaze offers a touch of acidity and sweetness to the meat. I couldnt figure it out, but the dish was packed with umami flavor. It was so delicious and satisfying! The gnocchi with ragu was amazing as well. The best part was the tomato sauce. It was so tomato-y and savory, but light at the same time. i definitely recommend adding a fried farm egg on top (even though $3 for an egg is practically highway robbery). I was slightly disappointed by the short rib, which was the cut of the day. The cut of short rib I had had a thick chunk of fat on one side, and was very lean on the other. I dont mind fat, but I like it to be more evenly distributed. The meat was cooked well and was savory and comforting. What I didnt like was the accompaniment of kale and turnip, which stuck out like a sore thumb on the plate. I didnt understand what their role was. Didnt add to flavor or texture. It was just weird. If youre looking for a comforting hearty meal with really fresh ingredients, Farmstead is a good bet! PS: Check in for free cheddar biscuits!

We arrived at 7 sharp for a 7 PM reservation. We were told that wed have to wait 15 minutes while walk ins whod arrived before us were seated. I understand that diners need to flexible and patient, especially with a place that seats this many people, but it would have helped if the hostess had seated us at the bar to wait. She didnt, so we just stood in the doorway, awkwardly. The service was otherwise pleasant. As vegetarians, perhaps we shouldnt have chosen a meat heavy restaurant like Farmstead (the wine country visitors like their cab and steak!), but a talented chef should always know how to be creative with meatless options. The only choices for us were vegetable gnocchi (over-cooked and without much flavor) and the crab Louie salad (too cold, like it was just taken out of the fridge). Since our mains were a bit middle of the road, we were looking forward to dessert and coffee (which our server praised as being very good, and from Oregon -- really? with so many great local coffee roasters). The desserts were both quite good, but the coffee definitely was not! Over roasted and acrid. Overall our experience at Farmstead was mediocre. I would say that if youre a meat eater, your experience might be a bit better.

I cant begin to describe how wonderful our experience was at Farmstead. My husband and I were celebrating our 1 year anniversary in Napa so we made reservations at Farmstead for lunch. When booking our reservations I mentioned it was our anniversary, not thinking much of it. After our waitress brought us to our table, the manager came over with 2 complimentary glasses of champagne and wished us a happy anniversary. He talked with us for a bit, asking where we were from, what wineries we were going to, etc. Saying we were from New Orleans, he told us we had to try the beignets on the menu for dessert. We were so full from our meal, we didnt end up ordering them, so he brought them out to us complimentary with a candle. It was such an amazing experience! Then, the food. OMG the food. You have to get the ham biscuits with pepper jelly. AMAZING! I am still craving more of them. My husband got the burger which was incredible also. Everything was fresh and just out of this world. I cant wait to go back one day!!!!

I was super excited to eat here last Saturday night. After making a reservation 2 weeks in advance, and arriving at 7:30 for our 7:45 reservation, we left at 8:10 because we still didnt have a table. At 7:30 the hostess said our table would be ready closer to our reservation time. I guess reservation to them means 30-45 min after the time you reserved. Whats the point of taking reservations? While waiting at the bar, the food looked ok but not spectacular. Everything in this area is organic and cage-free so I wouldnt bother waiting here. We went to the Silverado brewing company and had a steak and veggies that tasted great and looked just as good. Oh and the best part was when Open Table sent us an email saying we didnt show up for our reservation baaahahahahha!

We had just booked into The El Bonita motel down the road and this place was highly recommended to us. We walked in a immediately fell in love with the place. Large, clean, bright, trendy and buzzing with locals. We managed to get a seat outside at the back so that we could watch the wine train pass by, which was an experience in itself. The quality of food was very high and the wine even higher. Its a little pricey but you get what you pay pay. Definitely put this on your list if youre in the region and sit outside for the wine train experience. It came by around 8pm ish but check with the locals for the exact time. They raise their own cattle so the meat is very fresh.

I had lunch at Farmstead this past weekend, and it was probably the worst time to come to the restaurant. It was pouring rain outside which meant that the smaller inside seating area was packed. I was a walk in, but the hostess put us near the bar and we were offered drinks while we waited to be seated. When we were seated the food was amazing the bartender was friendly and we got the food in short period of time. The food ended up being delicious especially the asparagus. All in all I think that they handled the over -crowded dining area with extreme expertise, which made for an extremely enjoyable experience.
