The food is always magnificent. The wine is always divine. This place has had 4 diamond ratings it seems forever. When I was last staying at Vintners Inn and ate here, it was 4 diamonds then as well, and that was 2009. They use vegetables from the garden outside and in the craft cocktails as well. They are not inexpensive by any means, but they now have a happy hour that is much more reasonable with a $5 wine selection and $2 off cocktails. Dont order the tempura. It was horribly greasy and limp. Do order the fish tacos as they are amazing with perfectly cooked and flavored fish and slaw and handmade tortillas at only $3.50 during happy hour. The oysters are 3 for $6 during happy hour as well, and incredibly fresh and tasty, if not perfectly cleaned. Happy hour on Saturday is even quite long from 3-9, so dont miss out. Three ambience is so amazing and romantic with dark woods and russet tones, big comfy pillows and mood lighting that will make you never want to leave. Its located on a vineyard and olive grove, which lends itself to the mystical romance as the evening turns to night. Just keep in mind the kitchen closes early and the bar by 10. All in all, if you want a treat (and you know you do), you must try John Ash & Co.

The view and atmosphere is nice but everything else was poor. The service was nice but extremely rushed. We attempted to take our time but even with drinks/appetizers/entrees our bill was at our table in less than 45 minutes. Our appetizer was decent but nothing extraordinary. I had the ribeye and my girlfriend had the ahi tuna. Both were terrible. The ribeye had little to no taste and was over cooked. Her ahi tuna looked like it had been sitting out for longer than we had been at the table. We had heard great things but were very disappointed. The meal wasnt good let alone worth the $100.

I had thanksgiving dinner there. Sure the building is nice and expensive looking, but for what a full course meal costs, I would have expected a whole lot more. The food was weak (Ive had better at TGI fridays and a number of "cheap" restaurant chains) and the service was crummy (Ive also had better at Fridays). I think for the money you spend you get very little in return, and we as patrons seemed more like an inconvenience than business. Maybe we didnt look rich enough......

i went back to john ash after a few years with some friends, wanting them to try the remembered extraordinary cuisine there. The service was outstanding as was the decor, but my meal was under par as were those of my companions; the Caesar salad had no bite to it nor did my pasta dish which was about the only thing for me to eat as a vegetarian not eating a lot of cheese. The presentation of the food was lovely, however. Now, I suggest working on taste. thanks for listening.

The locale could not be more pleasant - as one looks out onto the vines while sipping locally vinted wines and simply amazing food. I have a hard time calling food amazing, but this is the real deal. Ate there twice, both times service was top notch, wine amazing, food incredible. Expect to pay over $100 for a table of two... but expect an amazing experience as well. Kudos to the chefs and staff. You have delighted me.

Absolutely phenomenal all around. The service was excellent, very attentive. The ambiance was very nice. We sat in the back patio area with views of the vineyard. And to top it off, the food was amazing! My wife had calamari fritte to start and the filet for her entree. I had the foie gras trio and the pheasant. It doesnt come cheap but the experience was more than worth it. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent service and decore, with a very nice wine selection. While the food was very good, I felt that the preparation of the food was slightly off from what I would expect from the quality fo the restaurant. The lamb shank was overdone and several of the items that I got looked like an episode of Chopped - a bunch of random things that they were trying to get to work but just did not quite work.

Very expensive and very odd tasting food. A fancy place but the food quality was no where near what they charge of it. Small portions, weird combinations of tastes, and very expensive. I did not think the food was very tasty. I went twice, thinking I got a bad dish. No, It was just bad. I cant imagine anyone enjoying the watery and tasteless Scallops. So sad, the place used to have great food.

They just changed their menu. I have been there twice since that. I have had the Brick Chicken, the Diver Scallops, the ARTISAN FOIE Gras, the Olive oil POACHED AHI TUNA and the bread. The food was just awful! $150 bucks was the average bill and I just can believe how bad it is. The previous menu was good. I think this place is going down hill fast.

Trendy refined looking place. Entree was pretty mediocre. Sausage over cooked, everything else was just food. Nothing mind blowing, I dont get the hype. Sonoma county must not have much experience with super amazing restaraunts. Definately not worth the $$ or the reputation

Décor, very warm and pleasant indeed. Service, very attentive and professional especially the wine service. Food, just average, a far cry from a "Gary Denko" in SF for example.

Ive been to John Ash 3-4 times now and the staff and the food always exceeds my expectations! Always stop into the Front Room for a cocktail before dinner.

Wow! Great atmosphere, incredible food! Not for the cheap-at-heart but excellent for anniversary, b-day, celebrating what-ever and entertaining clients.

Very good food. Service was very professional. The meal was less expensive than planned but nobody was having wine so that could easily affect it.

Great service but the food is bland. Ribeye was overcooked and sea bass was tough and tasteless. At $156 for two, its about twice it should be.

Meals created straight from the farm. Authentic and fresh dishes from this recognized restaurant on the property of Vintners Inn. Yummy!

Patio eating in Santa Rosa. Revitalized. Locals have returned to this well established veteran of the constantly changing food scene.

Very expense and unusual tasting food. I did not find the combinations very tasty. The chicken dish was dry and way over cooked.

A bit disappointed as our expectations were high. Great setting, particularly if you can grab a table outside.

Duck was delicious. We sat outside facing the beautiful winery and it was a perfect night.
