Many of the reviews here are either inaccurate or outdated. Granted, we walked in the doors at roughly 8:45pm and yes, we got dirty looks, not a single smile. We did order a vanilla latte and a cookie, so it wasnt like we wasted their time. I make vanilla lattes (hot) for my wife every morning so I wanted to see what theirs were like. They roast their own, so they must know something about coffee. Since it was a hot night, I changed my mind and made it a cold. The owner "seemed to" have acknowledged, but the drink came out hot anyway. No matter, Im sure the flavor/quality would be the same whether hot or cold. To sum up the coffee quality, my wife said, "Even 7-11 coffee is better than this!". They DO use syrups. The back bar, which is about 15 feet wide is loaded with Torani bottles, probably around 30-40 bottles. You cant tell me thats for decor. That would be free advertising for Torani. Even with vanilla syrup, there was no coffee taste, just the vanilla. It was not super sweet, which truly meant there was no coffee taste at all. I dont know how anyone can say the coffee is good or decent. For anyone who thinks so, I have some advice - "Go to 7-11. Quality is the same and its cheaper." As bad as Starbucks coffee is, Starbucks wins hands down. I did not taste the cookie, since we bought it for my 4 year old, who was hungry. Again, it was late but as my daughter was biting into the cookie, I felt bad because it looked very rubbery. Can you imagine a 4 year old, having a single bite of a giant chocolate chip cookie and calling it quits? If it wasnt because it was old, she gave up probably because of taste, like they would with spinach. I am also looking for a roaster, and I know there are a few in San Fransisco that are really good, but Id rather not go all the way up to SF to get beans, so what better than a local roaster? It seems about half their roast shelf was empty... I mean, one side was empty, and the other side was full, which would mean they dont have too much variety, or they over speced the shop when they started. Nevertheless, I asked the owner to show me her medium roasts. She pointed out all the "light roasts", and ended with their "house blend". From my experience, house blend tends to be more on the dark roasts. Alrighty then, I dont think I am going to try any of their roasts. Last but not least, without a single word, they started turning off all the lights. We were not the only customers in the shop either. We were sitting in the car and at exactly 9:05pm, the owners were out the door. A question I have, not related to service is - WHEN do they roast? I friend of mine use to roast for a SJ roasting company. He said they switched to roasting at night because roasting creates huge black clouds and the fire department would knock on their doors almost every day to make sure everything was ok. I dont have any facts but I dont think they roast in-house. The bottom line, everything about this shop "sucks". Thats the first, and possibly last time Ill be there, but I could only imagine the owners are tired and "bitter" because business is not good (maybe) and on top of a weak economy, and it goes full-circle. I think if they want to do better, they need to improve on their customer service and/or hire a GOOD barista to man the bar. It doesnt matter how good the barista is, the owner/manager needs to be better!

This is a great place to come for a coffee, study, relax and just take it easy. They have a lot of space that is setup beautifully with sofas, high chairs and bookshelves. Its usually not too crowded and you can always find a space to sit. Also, its by far more relaxed and quiet than most other "hip" coffee places in town. They roast is excellent. Certainly more on the darker and slightly bitter side, but very tasty when mixed with milk. Its almost like a traditional Italian roast. They roast the coffee themselves and put some serious effort into it. They also have varies pastries and little bites. Overall I really like how they set up their place. This has huge potential.

I have been here several times for meetings and its always the same. The coffee is nothing special and the people running it shouldve bought a gas station instead of a coffee shop. Heres why- you have to get a key on a big stick to use the restroom, there is 3 dollar minimum to use a debit card (which is against the agreement they signed to offer their customers the use of debit/credit cards from Visa/MM) and they get all huffy if you buy something small and want to use their "free" wireless internet. Dont waste your time going there, these people are not passionate about coffee- just trying to make buck and its very obvious by the attitudes of the service you receive.

Coffee was good, but the people who run it (I think they are owners) are not nice. Going up to the counter to order a drink will get you a look like you are interrupting her free time by making her open up the register to put your money inside it. Also they are obsessive about cleaning. I left my cup on the table next to me for a few minutes because there wasnt space on mine and she came and threw it away. I was the only one in the whole store so it was obviously my cup. Then she got mad at me for asking what happened to my coffee. Basically the woman who runs this place will not be nice to you, but the atmosphere and coffee were good.

We have our scout adult leader meetings at this Coffee Factory, and I buy bulk coffee from them regularly. They have a good Probat roaster, and the coffee is always fresh. I like it better than Starbucks or Peets, and suspect this has in part to do with the roaster they use. The owners are always helpful and friendly, and they give you every 10th pound free if you buy in bulk. The sweet rolls and bagels are fresh. The chai lattes and mochas are good. The shop is open, airy and clean, with plenty of space and they do have Wi Fi.

Although the place has free (with purchase) wireless internet, be prepared to receive dirty looks from the proprietors if you use it for more than an hour or so without purchasing another item. If they dont like people working there on their wireless internet, then they shouldnt offer it. Chairs and tables are not optimal for extended laptop periods. Ive had their iced tea mostly, which is decent. Their pastry selection is not overwhelming. Head over to Belanos, which is a short block away, for friendly, cozy coffee.

Throwback to when the coffee shop was not the trendy place to be, but was a place to have a nice conversation or get a little work done out of the office. In a sentence, coffee and light snacks without the pretension and crowds that the large chain coffee shops embody. Nicely nestled in the back of the strip mall, the location is protected from the street noise and is staffed by friendly workers.
