Ill start with the summation: its a nice lively addition to Fourth Street and a pretty good spot for drinks and nibbles. That was my first visit. There are numerous shareable small plates for that "drinks with friends" plan, but when I returned for dinner I was a bit disappointed. Probably should have just opted for the burger, which was what brought me back (hello IG) but instead I got distracted by the Wailea Poke starter (miss my Brick & Bottle tartare!). I should have stuck with that, but instead took our servers decent recommendation to get the East West salad (an "Asian Chop" if you will) and add the poke on top. Not a bad idea - and the tuba was delicious! - but the salad seemed like it had been dressed a few hours ago, and had sat waiting for an order... We ordered the Brave Potatoes to share, and they were as tasty as Id heard but Id get the Harissa aioli on the side next time as the potatoes didnt stay crispy very long. My friend ordered the Sticky Ribs and (on suggestion) added the Fire Cracker Green Beans. Beans were tasty! And spicy FYI. But the ribs were a miss with a bit of a strange gamey aftertaste that was funky. She left the majority of them behind. So she added the Mac & Cheese with "bacon dust" and that was quite good. Creamy, al dente, and savory. Plus 2 glasses of wine, this dinner of small plates was $100. Ugh. Not sure Id come back unless it was for the burger deal: $16 including salad or fries. Or maybe Ill meet friends for just drinks and nibbles again.

We went as a group of three without a reservation, and still had to wait 45 mins for a table, even though its not that busy. They used a lot of space in the restaurant for bench seats and counter seats, instead of tables or booths, so thats a little annoying. They have more tables outside, but we didnt feel like fighting the cold sitting under heaters. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was impeccably clean. Parking in the area can be a challenge. The food was pretty good, if not a little overpriced, but the beer was the letdown. They do offer flights of beer, which is a pleasant addition most other "breweries" in the area fail to offer, but much like all the others in the area, their menu is heavy with IPAs. They are the easiest beer to brew and take the least time, so they are popular amongst upstart brewery/restaurants, but they dont taste good. No matter how you try to differentiate them (double, triple, amber, etc.) they all taste bitter. You know somethings off when you have to give the product a bitterness rating. Bitter beer is not good, full stop. Anyway, still worth giving the place a try for the food and the other beers.

I am fortunate to be a customer of the Flatiron, and now, "State Room". It is a beautiful brewery, bar and restaurant with local farmers, and organic, fresh menu offerings. From concept, to build out, subsequent execution, is impressive and well thought out. I like to enjoy a little personal time at State Room, to relax and decompress with a glass of wine, and the delicious Flat Bread Pizza with spinach, garlic, butternut squash, with olive oil and vinegar. It was so good, i ate the whole pizza! The front of the house staff are very attentive, i never feel rushed, or neglected. Congratulations, Alex & Lisa!

Good food, great service! Enjoyed the Poutine potato skins and we split 2 sandwichs, the Crispy chicken and the BLT (b for burrata cheese not bacon). The sandwichs come with choice of salad or fries, garlic fries also available for $1 more. We opted for salad on one and garlic fries on the other. All the food was good. Garlic fries arent greasy which was good. BLT was good option for beg vegetarians or you can add pork belly to it if you arent. Chicken sandwich was fried but tasty with the coleslaw on it, sauce added flavor too.

Good variety in beer styles and quantity of selection. If beer isnt your thing, theyve got cocktails and wine as well. Food is also very good, though for vegetarians the selection can be somewhat limiting. The atmosphere and music inside is awesome, but if you want some fresh air, there is outdoor seating. Whether you are gonna stay for a couple hours or are just ducking in for a couple beers, I definitely recommend.

Awesome selection of beers/cider! Great pizza, sandwiches, salads...such an upgrade from the previous place in this location (Broken Drum). Our only issue was that the poutine had beef in it, and that wasnt listed in the description, so I was bummed. Also, our server forgot one of our veggie apps. Overall, delicious food right downtown! The setting is modern, bright and the wall/ceiling garden is gorgeous.

9 house taps with at least 1 seasonal rotation and 2 guest taps. All the beers here are solid for the styles and the session IPA has become a go to for happy hour. Wife enjoys the cocktails especially the savvy one, daylight and the botanist beauty. Food has been good the couple times we have eaten here with the pizzas bring solid choices.

So good! When they had a small fire recently, my girlfriend and I both we shocked and sad. Luckily they were able to open again with a limited menu. Ambiance is great with relics of California history lining the walls, great brewed in house beers, and super tasty food. Staff is friendly and work hard to satisfy their diners.

Every time I eat here I am impressed with the food. I give the state room 4 starts because of their service, once we were forgotten on the wait list and another time received generally bad service from the server. All in all a great place to eat, love the decor and outside seating!

Very interesting selection of wine and beers. They serve half pints on most of the beers too which is a great way of tasting their beers. The ambiance and decor is a mix of warm and industrial.

Okay beers and food. Still would like to see a bit more craziness in beer selection being in the north bay and all. However, good small bites and awesome service always!

Great beer and food as we). I rate a place on their fries, for one and the chef knows his stuff. Crisp and always consistent. The Cubano Sammie is delicious.

Great beer but food left some wanting. Decent flavor but pricey and small portions. A $12 salad is half the size of what youd get elsewhere.

This is our go-to hangout for drinking beer and killing one hour while we wait for the kid to get out of dance class.

Top rate food, beer, atmosphere, and staff. Finally a go-to place in the otherwise uninspiring downtown San Rafael.

Great food and beer. The pizza enterprise was super tasty but the putine could have used more gravy.
